When choosing this hotel, the main criteria were: location, price (approx. 60 E per day per room) and good reviews (mostly).
The hotel is conveniently located on one side: 5-10 minutes walk from the bus station, opposite the railway station, almost near the bridge, but in such a squiggle that we were looking for it for a long time. They didn’t think of printing a larger scheme at home. Our work was complicated by the fact that the numbering of houses in Venice is the same for the whole city, and the rooms are not always located nearby. But this is only on the day of arrival. Further, the proximity to the station only pleased us: in Venice, there are basically two types of signs: “Per Rialto” - to the Rialto Bridge, and “Alla ferovia” - to the railway station. So we walked confidently to San Marco following the signs, home also according to the signs - the main thing was to get to the station, and there we will be found! And again, with the complete absence of land transport, poor fellow tourists rushed around the city with suitcases in their hands, but for us, these carrying were reduced to a minimum - we left Treviso airport by bus (we bought a ticket back and forth, it was cheaper) to the bus station in Venice, and there is a hotel nearby, the same thing back - a minimum of body movements.
The proximity to the station was also convenient in that there were nearby: a vaporetto stop, gondoliers (we were offered the lowest price for a walk here), kiosks, shops.
About the hotel itself - a family hotel, in an old building, with a very unpresentable facade. For the first time, we even passed it without noticing, but then I looked back and saw a sign - but is this our institution? We were a little confused by the fact that Albergo is actually a hotel, so there were a lot of signs with this word.
However, surprisingly, everything inside was not so sad - there were no worn carpets and leaky chairs. Small lobby, friendly staff. Small sofa, a couple of chairs. Storage room. Free wi-fi in the lobby.
The hotel is made funny - as if stretched up. Our room was on the third floor, overlooking the courtyard. There are no rooms on the first floor - only a "dining room", a hall, a room for things.
Everything in the room is quite modest, but functional - a bed, two lockers (on the sides), hangers at the entrance, several sockets, a table. There was no TV, no fridge, no kettle and no iron (we had our own kettle, a travel kettle, and it really helped us out – we drank tea in the evenings). The absence of a refrigerator was a little disappointing - despite the fact that it was March outside, it was quite hot, and the purchased cheese had to be eaten completely. The bathroom is quite spacious, clean, nothing broken, the shower did not leak (which pleased me: I never met a perfectly working shower in any Ukrainian hotel, regardless of the price), soap, caps. Towels were changed.
Breakfasts are quite varied, but without meat and eggs. All sorts of pastries (homemade croissants!!! , buns, biscuits) and snacks with accessories - chocolate butter, jam, honey, butter. Tea, coffee, cappuccino to choose from.
The contingent is average Europeans (both elderly and young), we did not meet ours. Naturally, the Russian language was absent in the everyday life of the staff.
The staff is very pleasant, very friendly. The cleaning lady sang Italian songs as she cleaned up. In the morning during breakfast, delivering coffee, the girl also sang, beautifully. It was nice and very colorful! At the reception with us, 4 people changed in 5 days, some spoke English, some with difficulty. We agreed as much as we could. : -))
Logistics - well, I already wrote about the proximity to the vaporetto stop, the train station and the bus station, walking to San Marco is no more than half an hour. We tried to walk along different roads, anyway, thanks to the signs, we didn’t get lost. : -) We also went back by different roads, but this is mainly because we got lost. But thanks to the signs, they were still there. : -)) But we saw a lot of lanes and streets not trampled down by tourists. Sometimes, having wandered into some apparently private courtyard to “take pictures”, we met other tourists there. Poor Venetians, and it was off-season by their standards!
Products - two fairly large Bills were found empirically, do not ask for the address, I will not tell : -)). The choice is very good, the prices are quite happy. So basically they ate like this: breakfast at the hotel, lunch in the city - preferably, each time in a new place, during the day: ice cream-ice cream-ice cream, in the evening - at home, with cheese, cookies, sweets and sandwiches for tea. One day we decided to have dinner in a cafe, the outdoor tables were not lit, we sat inside, and then we were charged one Euro each for room service! The money is not big, but there was a "surprise", to be honest. We forgot about this rule.
Ice cream, I think, should not be praised, everyone knows - but in the city you can find places where it is quite inexpensive, and you can get three balls for the price of two, but in another place. Very tasty and satisfying, we used to taste so much that we didn’t even have lunch.
