In the lower (coastal) part of the city, there are mainly Taormina hotels. From the cheapest to the very expensive. There are no attractions here.
But there is a beach and the sea. Crystal clear and... very cold water. And this is after a week of 40-degree heat, which stood before our arrival and at the very "crown" of summer.
The bottom is rocky. They say that there is excellent snorkeling around the island of Isola Bella, but it was not possible to check because of the cold water, although they took a mask with them.
Sun loungers with umbrellas 15-20 euros per person. There is a small section of the public free beach.
In general, the beach and the sea were not impressed.
HOTEL ISOLA BELLA, 3*.
The first hotel at the entrance to the city from the east. 4 floors, most rooms with sea view.
It has its own fairly large swimming pool - partly overlooking the sea. The pool water is moderately chlorinated and warm.
Taking a room in a Taormina hotel without a sea view is a "crime".
A room with a sea view for three per night cost us around 140 euros, an excellent breakfast is included.
Many thanks to the hotel for providing a room with a huge terrace (see video), where we had a great evening with rose wine (6 euros per bottle) and with amazing views of the bay and the island.
I recommend, but not for "big" people. The width of the shower stall is just one of my elbows... and this is 48 cm)))
Bus stops going up to Taormina and back - right outside the hotel. Three times a day, the hotel provides a free transfer to the equipped sandy beach in a nearby bay - sun loungers and an umbrella there for 5-6 euros per person.
After 10 p. m. , there was complete silence in our area due to the lack of entertainment facilities nearby.
The railway that runs below the hotel is absolutely not critical. Trains run very infrequently and quietly.
The highway is very narrow and there are practically no sidewalks. Care must be taken when driving on the highway.
Before going down to the beach and before the first mini-market, you need to walk 200 meters, a little further to the funicular.
