The usual very mediocre hotel, C grade. Air-conditioning of all rooms is loudly said, everything is C grade.
We took all inclusive. The food at lunch and dinner is good, which can not be said about breakfast. 14 days are the same, without a choice and very scarce (however, Europe. The beach is still far away. You can find a hotel nearby right on the beach and at better prices and you only need to take breakfast and dinner. Although the wine in the hotel is wonderful, especially champagne and drink as much as you like!
No animations, you entertain yourself and basically shopping.
Mid-August is the holiday season for Italians. Do not drive at this time! This holiday with the "gypsies". There are a lot of children, all in huge families, everyone screams, makes noise and runs around. A full hotel of Italians.
Aeroflot charter flight to Catania, a good big new plane, they are fed with hot food, everything is as it should be - I flew back on a Vinjet flight (I had to return a day earlier), this is a low-cost airline, I had the opportunity to compare. Of course, the difference is in favor of Aeroflot.
The transfer takes about an hour - from Catania to Letojanni about 50 km. Then, while traveling by car, I found out that the Catania-Taormina highway (it is nearby) is paid, one and a half euros. From Taormina to Messina they take about two, but it is much better to take this road than to drive along the coast for free - a huge time saver.
The Olimpo Hotel is the topmost building. You can get down to the sea with the help of two elevators, it takes about ten minutes. While driving, enjoy the magnificent panorama. The windows of the room overlooked the sea. The room itself is new, very spacious and comfortable, much larger than in many "fours" that I have seen. Cleaned up every day.
Separately, it must be said about the staff. A lovely boy at the reception named Roberto helped me all the time, answered stupid questions, translated texts into Italian, and once, when I was half an hour late for dinner, he called the restaurant and they fed me a cold dinner. I even took a picture of him as a keepsake - Roberto, not dinner.
Meals were all inclusive: wine and soft drinks were included in the price, which is very convenient and, again, atypical for Italy. Dinner dishes are varied: fish and meat, pizza and pasta, amazing desserts. Breakfast is like everywhere else - scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal, fruit. Coffee on the outdoor terrace overlooking the sea - highly recommended, as well as the hotel in general)
