To the warm sea in the spring rain. Liguria.
6. Travel notes - 05.05. 2013
We left Como at 08.20, saying goodbye to Eva and Calypso.
In the morning, from the kitchen window, you could see a piece of the lake with the same name (with the name of the town) as well as a funicular for climbing to the viewing platform. A mutual decision was made - not to go up the funicular, so as not to spoil the impression of the previous day.
Also the night before it turned out that a one-time Internet connection in Vaduz "gobbled up" all the money on the Italian card account: and this means that the Internet is no longer available to us, despite the rest of the traffic. That is, the checkins are over.
Well, or as an option, you can throw a few euros into the account (feed/refresh) of the mobile operator. An attempt to replenish the account via the Internet was NOT successful. We asked Eva - everything simple is ingeniously simple! - pay through an ATM. Where? - Yes, on the first floor of my house. In the bank. This problem was solved in the morning before leaving. True, the minimum payment amount that was available was 15 euros. Okay, let's go.
A new day has brought new adventures and reminded some of us that sclerosis cannot be cured. But you can forget about it.
So we forgot something with Eve: each a little. I am a cosmetic set bought on the eve of the trip, Alina is a towel purchased on Lake Garda, which was expensive as a memory. We exchanged regrets, wrote an e-mail to Eva, who in return promised to save our "precious forgotten things". I did not want to return for them from the road, because we had already driven 30 kilometers in the direction of Genoa.
We arrived in the capital of the maritime republic of Genoa at 10.30, smartly parked in the underground parking. As it turned out later, almost on the ball. And we went to explore the city. Our plans changed dramatically during the trip. Also, a visit to the Aquarium was canceled along the way. It's unfortunate, but the circumstances. . .
We walked quite a bit through the streets of Genoa, as the rain began to drip. In the hope that this would not be for long, we wandered into a pizzeria in the square not far from the Cathedral of San Lorenzo.
It was raining. All stronger and stronger. Eating Genoese pizza, we congratulated each other on the Bright Resurrection of Christ!!
It was already clear that this time we would not be able to see Genoa normally. And we decided to leave in the direction of Rapallo, hoping that by the evening the rain would stop.
Having settled in the Riviera hotel, they dispersed to their rooms (the room was two-room, with a sea view and a terrace). The hotel itself is located on the first line, that is, right on the waterfront.
The rain did its job: I wanted to sleep. Which we did for a couple of hours, postponing the inspection of the surroundings for the evening.
The evening promenade along the Rapallo embankment was not particularly impressive: the season had not yet begun, it was not crowded. We found the place of departure of the boats to Portofino, found out the timetable and prices (to Portofino - 11 euros, to San Fruttuoso - 16 euros, both ways). But I looked at another schedule, in the direction of the Cinque Terre. Disappointed: the cruise to the Cinque Terre leaves on Sundays, that is - it was today. Sadness.
The evening brought not entirely pleasant news: a side mirror was broken on the car. And we won't be able to move on without it. So you need to look for the nearest service center. Thanks to the Internet - the information was found.
The night was coming. Another Italian night. The schedule has changed for tomorrow. Well....circumstances.
Other ideas came overnight. No wonder they say: the morning is wiser than the evening.
