The place where you want to stay longer
Charming Montalcino. A cozy Italian town with a population of only five thousand people. It is immersed in picturesque landscapes, as if painted. The red soil of Tuscany is colored by bright green stripes of vineyards and silver-green "checkerboard fields" of olive trees.
Among winemakers and connoisseurs of wine, Montalcino is known primarily as the birthplace of the famous "Brunello", an unusually aromatic 5-year-old wine, known since the 15th century. Other objects of tourist interest here are the imposing medieval fortress, whose towers offer an even more inspiring view of the surroundings, churches with magnificent frescoes of the Sienese school and... another wine - a young "Rosso di Montalcino". Among the local "chips" are excursions to wineries, of which there are as many as three hundred in the region, and a jazz festival.
In this city, you will definitely be offered to visit a wine tasting. Be sure to go! And climb onto the roof of the fortress, the view is amazing. There are several centuries-old oaks in the fortress garden. Take a couple of acorns with you as a keepsake : -)
