Travel notes. 02.05. 2013
We left the hotel at 10.20. Slowly she plunged things into the car. And in general today is a leisurely day: two lakes - Garda and Maggiore, ships, islands, romance! ! ! ! ! They changed their plans a bit: they decided to cancel the boat trip on Lake Garda. Because we plan to get to the Borromean Islands (Lake Maggiore) today after arriving in Stresa.
We reached Sirmione very quickly - almost nearby, only 5 km. So at 10.30 we were already in town. Parked. A couple of photos of the incredible color of the water surface and - step by step march to the old town!
Ice cream stalls and fruit trays - prices are reasonable, 2-3 euros. For the child - fun!
We enter the old town through the drawbridge. Here is the entrance to the towers of the ancient castle of the Scaligers of the thirteenth century. Huge fish and ducks swim in the clear water of the lake, from which the castle walls literally "grew". There are many of them.
Let's move on. Past hanging flower pots of flowers (tautology!
) areas of restaurants pass to the water. A light wave splashes against the shore. I dip my hand in clear water - it is soft, not yet warm, but very clean. .
Then - city streets, restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops, ice cream trays - my weakness! I'm buying: there are simply no forces to resist temptation!
At the entrance to the Terme de Sirmione wellness center, the road forks: to the left - to the grottoes of Catullus, to the right - to the park of Maria Callas. Beautiful park, green alleys of young trees keep cool on a hot day. The road leads directly to the lake.
White handsome swans importantly swim past, bending their graceful necks. They swim very close to the shore, hoping to get food from the hands of the people. But something scared them. A sharp wave of wide wings - and the birds flew away, leaving only splashes on the water. A few seconds ...and they were out of sight.
Swans, fat ducks and fish floating in the clear water - all this is a mandatory attribute of Italian lakes. We will have to observe this picture more than once.
Sirmione is a typical resort town. I'm here for the first time, so it's time to buy a "memorial sign" from here. Therefore, a small (purely symbolic! ) Shopping.
A magnet from Lago di Garda? - Definitely.

Souvenir shops everywhere. But we will not buy the next book today. The Internet is already running. And guides too.
But you need to buy Spagettometro. To know exactly - how much spaghetti to dip in water for cooking for 1.2, 3 and 4 people. The pleasure costs 7 €.
But I really like Italian ceramic tableware. I go to the store - and the impression is that I need everything here. I buy only spaghetti meters, but I photograph EVERYTHING!
I want to sit for a moment in this wonderful town to drink a cup of Italian espresso. Accepted

The time to leave - 12.00 has already struck (we have a schedule! - from which we will periodically deviate). Let's go! - It was not here!
Greetings from the Italian authorities - a fine of € 25 for overdue parking. Okay ...Don't worry, we'll pay!
The half-hour departure schedule was somewhat disrupted. But Sirmione is worth it.
We left de facto at 12.30. Stresa is 211 km away.
On the way we stopped at a supermarket in the suburbs of Milan. Products: ham, cheese, tortellini, strawberries, yogurt .....In Stresa arrived at the estimated time - 15.50.
Chaira (Chiara) was waiting for us. Our apartment is high.
Turquoise splashes: blankets, table lamp, key sticker - very gentle and cute!
Croissants, jam, coffee, tea, cream are prepared for us for breakfast.
After a late lunch with a white Italian Chardonnay, we finally went for a walk to the Borromean Islands.
This was our tactical mistake, as regular ships were already finishing their navigation at that time. The last ship arrives at 18:55.
So we had to rent a private boat. This pleasure cost us 75 €. It (satisfied) included: a cruise around Isola Madre and disembarkation on Isola Peskatori, Isola Bella. About 20 minutes each.
The islands were deserted in the evening. Still, the season has not started yet.
Very picturesque islands with souvenir shops, restaurants and more. But everything is closed. There are no tourists. Only us.
In some ways, we were lucky. It was quiet and deserted. And we drank a cup of espresso at Isola Peskatori.
And even "swam" in the local lavatory. Adventures! ! ! ! ! The tide, apparently.
However, we did not get to the park on Isola Bella. And the museum on Isola Madre has already closed at 17.00. Sorry, I'll have to go back.

The evening islands said goodbye to us until the next visit.
We did not manage to pass the local locomotive. The child was upset. But she was promised the Aquarium in Genoa and the tears immediately disappeared.
For dinner we had tortellini again, this time with greens. White Italian wine. Quiet evening, immersed in the night resort town, amazing fresh humid air.
At 23 o'clock they gradually went to sleep. Even a child fell asleep without a fairy tale.
Tomorrow we have new countries on the plan. New impressions.
