Italian travels
We recently visited Italy - a country that attracts hundreds of tourists and us as well.
The first Italian city we visited was Padua, home to one of the oldest universities in Europe - the University of Padua, opened in 1222. Galileo himself once taught at this university. We came to an hour when university graduates were being sent, so to speak, to life, and their traditional humorous parody scenes took place in the central streets. Oh, have fun!
Florence immediately impressed with its sophistication. Especially the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. As we did not try to cover it with a camera, only part of it could fit. So grand is the perfect cathedral. Many monuments in Florence are associated with Dante Alighieri - a prominent poet of the Renaissance and his "Divine Comedy". One of the most famous museums is the Dante House.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa was remembered from school desks.
Finally, we have seen this miracle of physics with the constant intervention of human hands. Although it seemed much taller, but this sloping building always pleases the eye of tourists.
And from ROME - this is ROME! Wherever you go, no matter which street you turn to, you will meet Michelangelo, Botticelli or Bonini. Impressed by its majesty (and crowds of tourists), the Colosseum - the largest amphitheater in ancient Rome. This place is so grand - really worth seeing. Unfortunately, due to the significant influx of tourists had to admire the Colosseum only from the outside.
Finally, the Vatican. We did not see the Pope this time, but his window near the building near Peter's Square shone brightly. Sistine Chapel with famous frescoes by Michelangelo, Peter's Cathedral, Peter's Square ...and a tour of Rome in the evening.
We also visited San Marino. This was the main place where tourists bought souvenirs.
The prices and the number of "Russian-speaking" sellers were pleasantly pleased there.
I would also like to mention a tour of Pompeii - the city that froze with the eruption of Vesuvius and thanks to which today hundreds of tourists can wander its streets - forum, municipality, two-way streets, indoor food market Macellum, in the center of which was a pool for live fish , brothel, Big and Small theaters of the city, baths ...so much is preserved. It seems that the city is frozen in anticipation of tourists.
Finally, we visited Venice - friendly sailors-gondoliers were happy to ride us on their gondola boats. Around the sea of souvenirs - Murano glassware and especially Venetian masks. Venice is a friendly place for everyone.
A few words about Italian cuisine.
The traditional dish in Italy is pizza Margarita (pizza consists only of dough, tomatoes, mozzarella and basil), and it is prepared in front of your eyes, and different types of pasta.
We were honestly confused by the different types of pasta. Pasta in Italy is stuffed and marinated, they are here from red, green to black. “Bon appetit! ”- as the Italians say.
Traditional lemon liqueur - limoncello - is sold in the windows of local shops. And we arranged a number of tastings during the trip, which contributed to the active purchase of such liqueurs; )
See you, Italy!
