Everyone has already written about the hotel itself - a large area, everything is green (but I wouldn’t say that it’s very well-groomed, because withered flowers and trees are lying around); breakfasts are dull - that's for sure (especially paid attention to a can of coffee. It seems that it is the same age as the hotel)))) so dirty! They just pour coffee into it without changing the jar).

It seems that it is the same age as the hotel)))) so dirty! They just pour coffee into it without changing the jar). The only plus is the beach - wide, clean, almost deserted.
But I would like to tell you what awaits you if you are forced to celebrate the new year or Christmas there. Our ticket came with the obligatory purchase of New year gala evening. I tried to find out in the travel agency what is included there, but no one could tell me anything. They said it was at the discretion of the hotel. We paid $66 per person. This is good money for India. Somewhere 3 days before the event, the reception posted a menu of what awaits us (snacks, salads, hot dishes, fruits). Attention - only food. Alcohol is not included in this price, neither water, nor juices, nor even tea! ! !
We were offered to buy alcohol from them (champagne 1500 rupees; old monk rum, which we bought in the store for 175 rupees - they cost 500 rupees). We were unpleasantly surprised, because for such money I think that alcohol and drinks should have been included in the price. The evening starts at 20.30. We arrived at 21:00. And they observed the following picture: empty tables with bored faces of people. Several people bought alcohol and sat with these bottles, while the rest just had napkins. No fruit, no snacks, nothing! Another hour passed. I asked the manager, are you going to feed us at all? At 10.30 pm everyone was served a plate with french fries, a small piece of fried fish and 2 pieces of cauliflower in batter! ! ! ! Half an hour later they announced that we could pour ourselves some soup. All announcements were made in English, although mostly only Russians live there. This, too, probably does not decorate them. They could make the main announcements in Russian, if only Russians live there.
Who understood, he ran to pour himself soup, the rest also then realized what they had to do.
After we ate French fries and washed it down with soup, it was already somehow more fun to listen to the "master of ceremonies" of our evening. He sang songs in English and periodically included songs in Russian (such as "Katyusha came ashore ... " and the like) and wanted us to dance hungry to these songs. Those who wished appeared only after eating the soup)))) At 23.30 they announced that they finally had a buffet ready! Everything that was promised was there. But how was it served and at what time!! ! ! ! Complete disappointment. Naturally, people drank, but did not eat. As a result, there was an incident - swimming in the pool) After the waiter was dropped into the pool, and he grabbed the garlands hanging by the pool. They turned off all the music, quickly turned everything off, without any explanation or apologies. Nothing, just defiantly cut off the evening and that's it! !
Therefore, think carefully whether it is worth going to such a hotel on New Year's holidays!
I really liked the beach. Therefore, I recommended taking a hotel in the neighboring village of Cavelossim (which is not 5 minutes walk, as they wrote here, but 40-60 minutes along the coast). It has all the infrastructure (shops, pharmacies, restaurants). The beach is noisier, but you can step aside and you are alone.

My wife and I are not in GOA for the first time. Excursions in large numbers were in previous trips. Badami, Hampi, Arjuna, Arambol, classic spice plantation trip, Dudhsagar waterfall in the jungle. Now I want to share my impression not from the exotic. The place where the Colonia J. M. hotel is located, in comparison with the northern regions of GOA, is rather secluded and is chosen by respectable European couples.

Now I want to share my impression not from the exotic. The place where the Colonia J. M. hotel is located, in comparison with the northern regions of GOA, is rather secluded and is chosen by respectable European couples. There are no annoying invitations to "look at my store", pleasant walks along the sea along the endless beach of fine starchy sand to Varka on the one hand and Cavelosim on the other. For us, the massage sessions were an amazing discovery, which we finally decided to experience for ourselves.
Now I understand why the locals come here for the Christmas holidays. They are charged with 10. . 15 sessions per year. We got 10. Now I feel differently (I'm 67), I lost 10 years without a doubt, I remembered the forgotten pleasant activities. It should only be borne in mind that this is a delicate matter and it is not permissible to trust its beach specialists. Easier, as we did: on the territory of C. J. M. there is a center for Ayurvedic and health massage. It is led by the charming Serija, originally from Kerala. By tradition and for reasons of ethics, massage therapists are divided - women massage women, men - men. All massage therapists are certified and have a medical education. Next year, my wife and I will again go to the same place - one massage of this trip is worth it.

The conditions in the hotel are, frankly, sporty, noisy window air conditioning, a rattling fan, a bathroom like in a Soviet pioneer camp, super modest breakfasts, but...... the chic location of the hotel compensates for all the shortcomings. There are a couple of small shops next door to the ocean where you can buy everything you need as well as local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

On the shore there are several cafes where it is tasty and not expensive, we liked the cafe at Kasim. Qasim offered great fish, crab, shrimp, etc. every day. On Fridays, party right on the beach with fireworks, a real DJ and a sea of romance, on the last dinner, the owner of the cafe presented a bottle of rum in the original bottle, a trifle but nice.

I returned from the "colony" three days ago. I have never seen a more disgusting place in the whole wide world. And it's not even about the stars, but about the attitude towards people. We arrived at the first hour of the night. The Indian led us to the room.....Horror. The door to the balcony is broken and broken in half, dirt, earth-colored linen.

There is no air conditioner-refrigerator. I give him 5 dollars, I ask him to give a normal number. As a result, he took me to several numbers, but he did not give me a normal one. As a result, in a dead room for an aging and rattling refrigerator, I paid a dollar a day extra. Instead of an air conditioner, there was a roaring overhead fan. In the cafe for breakfast dry bread (toast), salted butter and two kinds of jams. And the same thing throughout the entire race. Do not ask for napkins. Juice will be poured into a 150-gram glass for you, but they will not bring it. If you want, take it... And next to it are the same deuces with normal rooms, well-groomed territory and attentive staff. My advice to seekers: bypass this resort with the proud name "colony" on the tenth road.

The hotel pulls on a solid troika, the staff is good, kind, friendly. Beach SUPER!! ! I went with my wife, we decided to relax with an asterisk on the beach, so we didn’t ride around India, I liked everything, who needs parties and discos, you need to go to northern GOA, and in the south it’s just “relax on the beach”, some write about all kinds of living creatures in the room, we were only ants, we only slept in the room and took a shower, the rest of the time we were on the beach or in the necks (cafes) or in the pool at the hotel.

If you need to buy something, clothes, jewelry (take from Abdula next to the sheik on the way to the beach, silver and precious stones are 3 times cheaper than in Russia, but don’t take bad gold in India), etc. everything is near the hotel, just bargain almost twice if they ask for 1000 rupees - say that you will take for 400-500 rupees, etc. Of course, you will not regret the massage at Cherry on the beach next to the "Cool Breeze" shake!! ! Have a nice holiday!! !

In the hotel Colonia José Menina lived from 22.01. 11. to 5.02. 11 For its star rating, the hotel is decent, everything you need is there: shower, sink, TV, refrigerator, wardrobe, mirror, fan. There is also air conditioning, but very old, it buzzes more than it does any good. Living creatures (cockroaches, bedbugs) were not noticed, except for mosquitoes.

There is also air conditioning, but very old, it buzzes more than it does any good. Living creatures (cockroaches, bedbugs) were not noticed, except for mosquitoes. Be sure to take fumigators with you if you want to sleep peacefully at night. The rooms are cleaned only if you leave the key at the reception. Nothing was missing, nothing was stolen. Everything is fine . Everything is modest, without frills and frills, in Spartan style. The reviews of people who want to get the luxury and service of 5* hotels for a minimum of money in 2 * are surprising. The territory of the hotel is large, the plants are like in our Botanical Garden, a nice swimming pool. Sea! The waters of the Indian Ocean are a fairy tale. Especially in the mornings: calm lazy waves, flocks of small fish, crabs hiding in the sand, flocks of birds running along the water's edge in search of small crustaceans. This is something worth flying thousands of kilometers for. Clear water, kilometers of clean, deserted beaches and cloudless skies. We went on an excursion to Hampi and Little Tibet. I won’t write much about them, there is a whole site of reviews. I will say one thing - you need to see it with your own eyes at least once in your life, feel the energy of those places, touch the antiquities (temples) with your hands. And the sunrises and sunsets in the mountains - words cannot express the beauty that fascinates dozens of people who came to see off or meet the Luminary. And not only people. Monkeys next to people also do not take their eyes off the sun. An amazing sight. In Little Tibet, we had a cursory excursion, as we had on the eve of the arrival of the Dalai Lama. Everything was washed, rubbed, painted. Just like with us before the arrival of dignitaries. I’ll tell you right away about the road to Hampi - serpentine. Therefore, people suffering from seasickness should think before going on an excursion. I did not take this into account, as a result - blevantin. Went to the hotel only for breakfast (toast, tea, coffee, juices, jams). We dined and dined only at "Mishet". Dined a couple of times in Cavelossim in beach shacks. Why at Mishet? Like constancy and get used to the menu. You know what is delicious, what is not very (I don’t like sweet and sour sauces). Not expensive, for 500 - 600 rupees you can eat very tightly together with beer and juices. (600 rupees - 400 rubles). The food is prepared quickly, served quickly, never got poisoned by anything, never cheated, everything is like in a pharmacy. Tipping - (10-20 rupees) at your discretion. Shopping. We went to Anjuna, (the market there on Wednesdays) by taxi from the hotel. We went two couples - 1200 rupees with a stop at three shops along the way (taxi driver's condition). He waited for us for 4 hours while we roamed around the market. The market is our Russian flea market with an Indian twist: local consumer goods of low and medium quality. I bought a sundress, so it shed from the cold water, the water was all the colors of the rainbow. Silver jewelry is rough. Products that in my opinion have value are not cheap. Inferior in price very reluctantly. I liked shopping in d. Cavelossim, this is a couple of kilometers from the hotel to the left along the beach. Who are interested in leather jackets (good jackets), go to shop number 12. In Anjuna, we did not find leather on the market. And in this store, either buy ready-made jackets, (large selection), or you will be measured and sewn in 2-3 days. They did it to me. I liked the jewelry store, next to the leather store, on the right - called “JEWEL COLLECTION”. I bought a silver teapot there, liter (memory of India). The silver turned out to be really high quality silver. There is confidence in this store. The choice of jewelry is large, the products themselves are more fine and elegant work, stones - to choose from, for every taste. Too bad there was no black opal at that time. I did not buy silver in Anjuna, the work is rude, and there is no trust. The market is the market. Further to the right is a scarf shop. Cashmere balls with silk, with a unique pattern and different colors. I bought 4 scarves and I regret that it is not enough. A good gift, and literally warms the soul, at -20, as it is now in St. Petersburg - a fairy tale. Good Indian rum "Old Monk" - seven years old is sold in both glass and plastic containers. Same price . Cheaper than 120 rupees will not be found anywhere. Plastic - for export abroad, do not fight. Tea was taken at the market in Margao. I liked black tea “Mango”. In general, in Russia you can now buy better quality tea than in India at such a price of -800 -1200 rupees per 1 kg. If you go to Margao - stop at the first crossroads - from the hotel to the left. In Margao itself, near the municipal park. Drive 40 minutes. In a nutshell, that's all. Maybe someone will come in handy. In general, I liked everything, both India and the Indians - as people. I didn't get Goan syndrome. There are many other beautiful places on the planet where you want to visit. And I still bought a ring with black opal for myself! On the last evening before the flight, for the remaining rupees in the jewelry store at the crossroads towards Mishet. It turned out to be a good store, and very close to the hotel! Bargaining is always and everywhere appropriate! Even with travel agents. The larger the group for an excursion from the hotel, the more you need a discount. Good luck to everyone and have a good rest!

And this year we went on New Year's holidays from 4 to 17 January. This time our flight was delayed by 1.5 hours! So the holidays are off to a good start.
Arriving early in the morning, we crowded at the Goan airport, got our luggage and sat on the buses. Roads in India is another story! There are simply no traffic rules! Everyone is going as best they can, it's better not to look! And Pts is not familiar that the movement in the other direction.
The weather is awesome, the average temperature is 32-35, but because of the constant breeze, there is no heat, not a drop of rain, the sea is about 26 degrees!
The hotel corresponds to its 2 *, no extra frills. Everything worked and a TV with 40 channels (there are no Russians though) and hot water and a fan and condo. Cleaned every day, although it depended on whether you leave the keys at the reception or not, respectively, removed or not. The kanesh bed linen leaves much to be desired (grayish tint), but it is clear that it has been washed. During this year, a lot of things have been repaired, which pleased! We lived in almost the same room as that year, only on the first floor, number one on one, with only one balcony, because. in place of the second is a porch. The territory is all well-groomed, beautiful flowers grow, the papaya next to our room a year before the window of the second floor waved, but was lower than the first one!
The hotel only had breakfast (tea, coffee, buns, toast, jam, butter, milk, juice), dined in beach cafes, were in almost all! Most of all I liked in "Chikita" (a HUGE hello to the owner - Sebastian), though it's not very close, but it's worth it! It is located next to the beach of the hotel "Ramada". On our beach, they mostly went to the shek to Tony (this is the very first one, if you look from the sea), Tony, Thomas and Abdul - also a huge hello.
In short, we liked everything very much, it was not in vain that we went here for the second time! And more than once we are going to go, especially since we now have a lot of friends there! In general, we advise everyone!! !
