When Khajuraho is pronounced, everyone who knows this word immediately associates it with the Kamasutra. This is due to the fact that the sculptures on the walls of the temples of this Indian town, according to one version, illustrate the contents of a well-known book.

Yes... But I'm not talking about that. That's right, information for seed : -)

There is in India, in the state of Tamil Nadu, a small town called Kumbakonam (population about 200 thousand people). The city is a religious center and there are several ancient temples in it, each of which is worthy of an independent story.

I will now tell you about the largest temple of Kumbakonam - Sarangapani.

In order not to bore the reader with a set of information from Google and Wikipedia, I will not list all the tactical and technical data of this temple, I will mention only the most significant ones, from my point of view.

The construction of the temple dates back to the 13th century. The height of the gopura of the temple reaches 45 meters. Gopura is decorated with many figurines that vividly illustrate scenes from the life of the gods. The temple itself is dedicated to Vishnu and in the passage inside the gopura you can see a sculpture of Krishna (Vishnu's avatar) playing the flute.

Despite the fact that the temple is almost the largest building in the city, it is rather difficult to photograph it in all its glory. This is due to the fact that it is surrounded by many 2-3 storey buildings with narrow streets. But to come close and consider - of course you can, because this is the entrance to the temple.

When approaching the temple, I was struck by the thought of how it is possible to make a facade repair of this building? Considering the number of small details and the number of colors used to paint them, it is quite obvious that this will not work out quickly. And a palette of 256 colors will not be enough. Moreover, you can’t hang a construction cradle, because. external walls at an angle. But, apparently, over the 8 centuries of the existence of the temple, people somehow learned how to repair it!

Yes, by the way, what does Khajurahu, mentioned at the beginning of the story, along with the Kamasutra, have to do with it? The fact is that the Indian gods knew a lot about earthly joys : -) All earthly pleasures were completely not alien to them. So, the lower rows of sculptures on the gopura of the temple are clearly erotic in nature and, in comparison with the sculptures in Khajuraho, although not so frank, but more elegantly executed and, most importantly, very colorful.

All this can be seen in the attached photos. If somewhere some plots are duplicated, then do not blame me - it just means that I liked these scenes more than others (or rather, Indian beauties with their candy-pie shapes).

Here is such a historical and erotic attraction!
