Geographic records are relative. If in order to get to the highest point on the Earth, you need to be an extra-class climber, then in order to get to the lowest point on the planet, you just need to come to Israel. Here, at a depth of 417 meters below sea level, is one of the most wonderful pearls of world nature - the Dead Sea.

The Dead Sea is a pool located in the center of the Syro-African Rift, its length is 45 km, its maximum width is 15. But it is also the most salty pool in the world - the salt concentration here reaches 340 grams per liter (ten times higher than in Mediterranean Sea), as a result of which it is possible to swim in it without making the slightest effort in order to remain on the surface; all that remains is to enjoy the gentle sun and the breeze coming from the desert. However, no living organism can exist in these waters - hence the name.

And yet the Dead Sea is the sea of life. Thanks to the numerous minerals dissolved in the water, the healing oxygen and bromine vapor in the air, the extraordinary mud at the bottom of the sea, hot sulfur springs, the sun's rays that pass through a natural filter - an additional four hundred-meter layer of air and therefore do not burn - thanks to all this, the Dead Sea has become to a health resort. Tourists come here from all over the world, not only to relax and indulge in the numerous spas, but also to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and get acquainted with a variety of attractions. And there are many natural phenomena here: salt “sculptures” that have grown on the shores of a serene sea, the remains of primitive settlements found on the slopes of hills, springs flowing at the foot of rocks and shy mountain goats that, seeing people, run away along dry riverbeds.

Around the sea there is a developed tourism industry. Here you can go hiking or ride camels, jeeps or bicycles, or go snapling - descending from the rocks on a rope. You are called and wonderful natural places - Ein Gedi oasis, Einot Tzukim, Nahal Arugot and Nahal David, historical sights - Masada, Qumran caves, where the famous Dead Sea scrolls were found, you can see cozy hyraxes, which in Israel are called "rock rabbits" , agile lizards, mountain goats we have already mentioned, unusual vegetation and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the desert.
