This was our honeymoon. Bali Tropic greeted us with friendly smiles from the staff and a welcome cocktail. The hotel administration was warned by the travel agency that we were newlyweds, but for some reason this did not affect the room. : ) In addition to the two-story bungalows, the hotel has one three-story building with an elevator and rooms along the corridor. It was in this "most romantic" building that we were given a room, the windows of which overlooked... the laundry room. But they brought a cake with the inscription "happy honeymoon")))) After a little explanation, the number on the trail. day changed, gave the second floor of a bungalow. The room itself was a little older than the previous one, but we still stayed in it, because it’s more pleasant to live in a bungalow. ) The hotel area is very beautiful, the Balinese employees pick the grass day and night and plant something... Everything is very clean and green. Every evening there was live music in the lobby, but we rarely sat in the hotel - we got acquainted with the life of Bali on our own. (Bali Collection, Club 66, Spa and much more). We only had breakfasts (the food on them is ordinary European (omelettes, rice, meat, ham, cheese, vegetables, fruits, sweets), everything is delicious and changes periodically. We had lunch and dinner all the time in different places, we especially liked the Japanese restaurant and the restaurant "Coconut" which are about 20 minutes walk from the hotel on the right side. ) By the way, there is also a small supermarket "Area market" with a huge selection of souvenirs, local dresses and all sorts of things. There are no lower prices anywhere. Do not look. Kuta is much more expensive. Checked. ) The cheapest souvenirs in Aria Market. And there is no need to bargain, because the price is already fixed and very low. We advise everyone to dine at Jimbaran Beach. People from all over the world meet the sunset there at tables on the sand. The most delicious seafood at the best prices is also there. It seems to me that there is no more amazing place in Bali : ) We also did not use the services of Russian guides, since the prices there are unreasonably high. We were driven by a Balinese taxi driver for $ 40 a day. We liked it very much: Kintamani volcano, bird park, monkey park and butterfly park . (Birds sit on your hands, monkeys jump on your knees and study you with their small hands, and butterflies flutter and sit on your head. : )) By the way, the hotel was mostly Germans who got drunk free alcohol and loudly sang their German songs. )) The only unpleasant moment arose only at the very end at the airport. They did not want to put us on the plane next to each other, explaining this by the lack of seats. Another Russian couple had to face the same. Foreigners have no such problems. As it turned out later, the Russians simply plug holes in the plane and put them in one by one. After 30 minutes of nervous conversations, they nevertheless found places for us in some unknown way. Probably the Germans were seated... : ) In general, the rest will be remembered only by positive moments, Bali is a paradise where you want to return again and again, and in the end just stay there once and for all . . Thank you all)
Rooms - bungalow 2 floors, 2 entrances, total 8 rooms in the house. The territory is all landscaped, a real garden of Eden, with streams. This creates a sense of romance and sparseness.
The staff is polite, only at the reception one feels some wariness (confirmed by the fact that the people from the reception did not allow the hotel umbrella to be taken out on a tour on the only rainy day).
Food (breakfast) - nothing special. You can eat, but the choice is not very rich, far from Egypt. However, it didn't bother us. Didn't try dinner or lunch.
The pool is ordinary, but with sharp corners between the children's and adult sections. The tides are very strong. You won’t see the ocean with waves from the hotel’s beach, rather a paddling pool - but it’s not scary to swim with children there. The tour operator gave, among other things, a map of low tides. Each day the maximum time shifts by 1 hour, i. e. 25 hour cycle.
Cleaning daily.
Towels are not folded into swans even with a tip, but everything is changed, cleaned.
For those who like to hang out right in the hotel - not suitable. For a romantic getaway, honeymoons are just the thing.
Very important - opposite the hotel there is a MiniMart store - IT HAS FREE WIFI!! ! Not fast, but a freebie. Before going to bed, they came there with a laptop, bought beer (you don’t have to buy anything), and sat surrounded by local geeks : ) You don’t have to go to the store, there is a small area on the territory of the hotel where Wi-Fi breaks through - but the connection is very bad. In the hotel itself, Wi-Fi costs 5 bucks per hour, they did not take it.
The SIM card was provided by the tour operator upon arrival, there are 5k rupees (15 rubles) on the account, this is not so little - enough for a dozen SMS to Russia! You need to call to Russia through a certain code, the tour operator will give a piece of paper, then talking is cheaper. Replenishment cards are sold at every corner with a 10% mark-up, if you try, you can find them at face value.
They usually try to sell tourists the maximum face value - 50 or 100k rupees (150.300 rubles), but in general there are still cards for 5k, 10k, 20 (or 25).
Everything about the hotel.
I'll tell you a little about shopping, because little is written about it.
There is a bus to the Hardis store - they constantly bought fruits, beer, juices there. Souvenirs can also be taken there, the prices are average. There are clothes, but quite consumer goods.
The bus to Bali Collection also comes to the hotel. For lovers of stores such as European or Mega, the SOGO store will like the assortment of clothes there. There are a lot of high-quality and inexpensive (by Russian standards) clothes, most of the brands are little known here. Those that are known - cost 1.5 times cheaper than ours. And the assortment is much more interesting. For example, shortened (! ) Speedo fins for 1200 rubles (no one has seen such fins in Russia, even in the type of "branded" speedo in Europe), full-size for about the same money, a thin Puma T-shirt - 750-800 rubles (in Russia from 1700 stand), converse shoes from 1800 rubles.
Hawaiians, which are nowhere in Russia. For women's clothing - the same situation, a lot of bright summer things. Plus, there are a lot of shops near SOGO, there are both outright junk and fakes like D&G, as well as great brands. Especially a lot of clothes for surfers - Volcom, RipCurl, SurferGirl (very stylish and positive! ), DC, Quicksilver. On the territory of Bali Collection there is also a large CocoMarket store - there is a high-quality clothing department, local production, the assortment is not the widest, but the prices are low with high quality. (DO NOT confuse with a large local junk shop in about the same building! ) In the same coco market - souvenirs. Feel free to take them there - they already have a price tag, no need to bargain, there is no feeling that you are being bred. The assortment of souvenirs is the same as in numerous shops for tourists, including those with supposedly completely handmade. There is even a sandal.
We did not explore other stores, for a small set of swimsuits, clothes and gifts, a cocomarket and sogo were enough.
Restaurants. In the bali collection area - delicious and the most expensive prices. More precisely, the prices are normal, but the drinks are slightly more expensive than average. Plus, they charge 21% for taxes and services, there is a suspicion that this is added only to Russians. So not an option. If you go from the hotel as you exit - to the right, you can walk to many cafes. You can do the same way by taxi. And there, in the low season, vying to call. They often offer discounts of up to 20%. And if they don’t offer it, you can bargain for it, put pressure on the barker by eating in another place with a 20% discount. But again, prices may turn out to be higher - somewhere they regularly add 15-21%, somewhere drinks are slightly more expensive than average.
As a result, we tried several cafes, but most of all we liked Dewi Shri opposite the Peninsula Hotel - they gave us a 20% discount and did not add any% on top (we paid them voluntarily - in the form of a tip, but this was already our initiative), at the same time, drinks were cheaper than average (fresh - 18k rupees (about 60 rubles), pinocolada - 35k rupees (100 rubles), the most expensive tequila sunrise cocktail - 58k rupees (180 rubles)) and the food was very tasty. We called them almost daily by phone, they came to the hotel for us, after the meal they took us back. The only thing is that no one there speaks Russian, English Ownley. As for the rest, we recommend it, especially since they were going to make repairs right after the new year. If you will - say hello from Russian honeymoons from Bali Tropics : )
Restaurants in sightseeing places (volcanoes, temples, a bird park, etc. ) - I didn’t like it anywhere, food for a triple, drinks are not very good, prices are like those of Bali Collection cafes.
Be sure to visit Jimbaran on the coast - there are a number of cafes specializing in fresh seafood. Meet the sunset in any cafe. Prices are high (compared to our Dewi Shri with discount and no taxes), but beautiful! The sun looks great, and the airport is nearby, the planes take off beautifully. Behind the line of cafes, closer to the airport, there is a seafood market - you can buy all the freshness and cook right there, it turns out quite budget. But we didn't try.
About excursions. There are many things to see in Bali. We did not go with a tour operator, but met a local taxi driver (or rather, he is with us), and after a couple of days we agreed that he would ride us for several days, bargained for a very good price. Let's just say that you can, just by talking well in English with taxi drivers, agree for $ 45 a day, there are even those who know Russian.
We managed, by buying several days of skiing at once and the gift of persuasion, to agree even cheaper : ) True, for this we were regularly brought to tourist shops, but no one was offended when we didn’t buy anything there, but just look at the work of pearls and trees are really interesting. Tickets everywhere on the tour. places cost a penny, the most expensive - local dances ($ 8), elephant riding (15 minutes - $ 40), bird park ($ 25), did not go to the zoo. Separately, I will mention the largest temple - Pura Besakih. Here, calm and polite, in general, the Balinese are not like themselves, they rush like Arabs in Egypt with demands to use their guide services. There are much more of them there than tourists - that's why they get them, they won't let you watch in peace. The rest of the places (temples, monkey forests, rice terraces, GWK park, botanical garden) - I liked it, no one climbed. More precisely, tourists from Jakarta climbed in the GWK park - they asked to take a picture with them : )
Those who wish can ride a scooter
. To the right of the hotel there is a car rental, where you can arrange to bring a scooter. We were stupid, we rented a scooter in the distance - almost a Bali collection, also in a car rental. But they handed it over right at the hotel - they called, the man came to us and took it away, he didn’t even check the equipment and gasoline. The price of $ 5 is considered normal, but this is if you find and bargain. We took for 1 day - $ 8, we did not try to bargain because it was purely for a test drive. The movement is left-handed, hard to get used to, we personally decided not to strain and drive a car with a driver. Taxi to Kuta - 80k rupees (250 rubles), to bali collection - 15k (50 rubles).
For party people - in Kuta there is a Legian area, there are many clubs. Judging by the reviews, the most lethal is Bounty. Unfortunately, we did not make it to the club on this trip.
Separately - about the tour operator, whose name does not matter, because the problem is common to everyone.
The representative girl claimed that cafes to the right of the hotel are expensive, where they take you for free - expensive, but to the left along the path along the beach - excellent and inexpensive, restaurants near Bali Collection are also excellent and inexpensive, you must always pay 20% on top and everywhere. In general, everything turned out to be absolutely the opposite - in its places everything is more expensive than the average, and even with taxes, and in other places where it is "impossible" - inexpensively, not everywhere they take 20% (or take less than 10-15%), more and many cafes will give you a ride for free. The work of representatives of the tour operator is to direct the flow of tourists to the "right" places. Keep in mind.
About the rainy season. In the south of Bali, it rained 1 time in 12 days. Cloudy but very light, even dark glasses were worn. In the north of the island - it rained more often, but also not every day. Strong and usually not protracted.
That's all in a nutshell, I hope our experience will be useful to someone : )
The hotel itself is wonderful. Quiet and cozy. Music every evening near the lobby bar is live. In general, we really liked it. This is a hotel for a couple who already have travel experience. You will entertain yourself there. But, no one imposes their service, as in Turkey. The only downside is the ocean. Everything is true - he is almost not there, or rather he is there in the distance.
And one more thing: for English-speaking tourists, everything is much cheaper! Learn the language. Russian speakers are very fond of breeding there. Bargain if your knowledge of the language allows.
We flew by Transaero plane for 12 hours, but lying down, as there were not enough people. But there was a set of passengers back and we were just sitting, and water flowed down the aisle from the washstands and the flight attendants jumped over scattered rags like frogs from bump to bump.
Bali was met with such stuffiness that it was never possible to get used to it. Although, I admit that it seemed that way after you leave the air-conditioned room. In the room, it worked properly, so we sometimes got cold, but did not turn it off under any circumstances. We lived at the Bali Tropic Hotel - a small hotel consisting of 2-storey bungalows with 100 rooms. Everything is clean, comfortable, surrounded by greenery.
People who are vacationing in the tropics for the first time are amazed by the lush vegetation everywhere, the flowers that are everywhere here and with which they adorn everything that is possible. In particular, and you, as soon as you leave their airport building. Everywhere you smile, and sincerely. And although I had suspicions that they see us only as newly arrived wallets (they are), they stopped bothering me when I saw that the Balinese were just as friendly to each other.
I will briefly confirm what has already been written about Bali: that it is worth driving around by taxi (from the main Nusa Dua vacation area to the Kuta party center $ 6-7 according to the meter (take blue taxis with a meter); food in restaurants is cheap and from the belly (although what a belly! ) you can eat for $20-30; that you have to bargain in the markets, standing your ground and dividing the price you have been told by 4, or even by 5. So, we managed to buy mangoes instead of the named $2 per kg (20.000 ) for 8000 rupees Acquaintances, having bought 5 kg of different fruits for $ 4 and spreading this charm on the floor in the room, could not come to their senses for a long time.
We used private transport to travel around the island. At the same time, we were lucky to meet a wonderful guide named Gede, who happened to work for a travel company (in my opinion, and continues to work) and who knows all the routes and those places that are really worth visiting. He was the only one we didn't bargain with in Bali, his prices were so real. Bribing his politeness and willingness to help without unnecessary fawning, with a sense of dignity. For those who know English, we report his phone number: 08.706 7.977. In a year, he promised to learn Russian as well as his English and Japanese. We were all the more pleased with the trip with Gede, because the Russian host companies arranged a real juicer from their compatriots. "Bounty Bali", giving us a list of their excursions and prices for them, almost brought us out of a state of readiness to relax. Where we drove with Gede through temples and parks for $40 for two for 11 hours, "B. B" asked for $120 per person. True, we bought entrance tickets to temples and parks separately and they are not cheap everywhere, but the calculations showed the purest fraud of travel agencies. And the representative of the "Navigator" Katya completely yelled at the intelligent Muscovites who arrived, who decided to refuse their services (the women were stopped in time from paying for the tour by seasoned tourists), and, saying that they are OBLIGED to use only the services of their company and having selected all the prospectuses, she left. The tetechs were brought to their senses and instead of "Navigator" they were given a lot of advice on hiring local guides. Also with a trip to Java. We flew there (which we will never regret! ) for $230, our companions for $200, and Russian companies offered tours for $320-425. At the same time, for some reason, they claimed that planes fly to Java only on Wednesdays , although they fly there immeasurably every day, and even the prices change from day to day.
Speaking of prices. The dollar exchange rate sometimes changed during the day. Only we sold dollars for 10.980 rupees, as in the same point an hour later it was 10.080. It should be borne in mind that exchangers allegedly do not accept banknotes with the letters C and D in their numbers, and we were warned about this in Moscow. But we never managed to notice that our banknotes were closely examined during the exchange. We changed money in the exchange offices of the Kuta district, in the Discovery store, which everyone will definitely find out about upon arrival, since the store is really big and good. The rate at the hotel was quite flimsy.
A little more about excursions. There are not so many places worth seeing, or maybe just many temples are not accessible to tourists or are not very impressive. That is, if you jump on excursions, unless you prefer sitting in the pool with beer or whiskey, which is also a vacation in itself, you run the risk of seeing everything very quickly and joining those soaking in the pool or the sea in the remaining days. Many companies break up excursions into small pieces and what we saw for a full day and for $ 40, I can offer you as separate excursions, spreading them into 3-4 excursions: separately crocodiles in the mud, separately turtles in the mud, and monkeys in separately, although in the Uluwata temple, where you will be taken to watch the Kechak dance, you will get to know them more than closely, left without glasses or pendants. Well, you don’t need a guide at the zoo and parks of birds and reptiles, everything is clear there.
Many who were in Thailand before traveling to Bali tend to think that Thailand is better, more interesting, but "busy"; massages in Bali are definitely worse, especially $10 on the beach (1 hour of hard strokes) and $35 in the salon (2 hours of strokes). It probably is, but Bali is a good place and worth a visit. Moreover, it is worth doing this in the coming years, while our ubiquitous compatriots have not yet ruined all the locals with their money and the Balinese are still smiling.
That's probably all
So, about the hotel. Very friendly staff, at check-in they are treated to a welcome cocktail. A trifle, but nice! Settled in a wonderful room from which you could see and hear the ocean. Our windows overlooked the side where the locals lived. So they greeted us every day! The room itself was very chic, despite the fact that it is 4 *! Marble floors, wood carvings everywhere. NOT A SINGLE piece of plastic! Your own air conditioning, a balcony with wooden furniture, in a word - beauty! And most importantly - a huge four-poster bed!! ! Slept on it wonderfully))))))
Again, the staff were top notch. Since we don’t really know English, it was initially a little difficult to communicate, but they wanted to understand us there (unlike the Singaporeans) and we quickly found a common language. Rooms cleaned every day, bottled water delivered every day. Everything is on top.
Kitchen. We only had breakfast. Quite varied and delicious. Lots of fruits. And their pancakes... I still remember! Yummy! It is better to have lunch and dinner outside the hotel. And cheaper, and get variety. By the way, Bali and Singapore have very tasty wines!
The territory of the hotel. Everything is clean, tidy, chipmunks are running around on palm trees! Impressed. We spent half a day walking and taking pictures! And also a private beach, free umbrellas, sunbeds, towels. Those who tried to get to our beach from other hotels were correctly asked to return to their territory.
A small digression. Another important point is the ebb and flow! We were a little shocked: we come, but there is NO ocean! Explore the map as much as possible! And then you will swim in the pool, which is also very cool, but still...
So, let me draw the line! We were very satisfied! Rating 5+!!!
You will not regret!
I can add to the account of the service. In the room for free and every day 3 bottles of water (1 per guest), kettle, tea, coffee and sugar. All this was added as it was used. Every day they changed towels, linen, and added bath accessories, if they ran out. The room also had bathrobes, slippers, and umbrellas. The air conditioner is separate, modern, there is a remote control, it is adjustable at your discretion. For a child, the bed was a folding, extra. I don’t remember about TV, we watched something, but here’s what... There is a mini bar, there is gas. Water and cookies (again, I doubt it... ) In the morning, the food was not as plentiful as in Turkey, but you won’t stay hungry, child ate too. At lunch, we ate fruit, and dined wherever we could, there are many places. The hotel did not take food - a little expensive and a long wait.
