Date of arrival: from 09 to 23 April 2008.
Rested together with my husband from the "Capital Tour", the agency "Paloma West" (Moscow). Vouchers, by the way, were purchased in absentia, through the manager Daria Kozmina (a very responsive girl). That is, it is quite possible to issue all documents from another city by fax or e-mail to a visa-free country, and then receive them at the airport.
There are no complaints about the flight, all conditions were created for it to pass unnoticed. Luckily, we generally flew there on the second floor of a Boeing, and back in business class.
The hotel in Bali was chosen by Ramada Bintang Bali. There are no complaints about it: it is clean, cleaned every day, towels are changed every day, breakfasts are quite (although where are they varied? ), the territory is small but cozy, there is a SPA, tennis (for a fee), a decent pool with a waterfall, two jacuzzis with cold and hot water. But when choosing a hotel, be careful: THERE IS NO OCEAN THERE! Having left on the day of arrival on the coast, we found a bunch of garbage and a completely unequipped beach with not very clean sand. As they answered us: “Why do you need the ocean? You have such a beautiful pool! ” (no comment). Although we still found a way out. Half an hour walk turned out to be the municipal beach, where we went. Kuta is famous for its big waves, so at first it was difficult to figure out how we should swim. But the decision came by itself: I had to master surfing )) It's an exciting thing )) But you can rarely see kids splashing near the shore, although this is a dubious pleasure: it's hard to shovel sand out of swimming trunks )) Although jumping into the waves made us quite happy)) The only minus on municipal beaches - merchants. It's something. Then we just stopped paying attention to them.
Nusa Dua is usually chosen for relaxing on a calm coast, but hotels there are more expensive. We were on the territory of a hotel in Nusa Dua, but we did not like the sea: a lot of algae and some kind of lifeless sea. In general, Nusa Dua is famous for its low tides, so it’s up to you to choose: either boring Nusa Dua with a calm coast or Kutu is cheaper, but there are no problems with cafes. By the way, I really liked the food. Approximately 600 rubles. for two we got dinners (a hot dish and a glass of cocktail), in general, it’s quite normal. Be sure to visit the Italian restaurant Ifiori. Service is just class! Clean, great view, the waiters skipping run to serve at one glance. You will receive a 15% discount coupon for your next visit. We were twice in a Japanese restaurant, they even cooked in front of us, super! ! (where is there sushi and rolls, if not on the Indian Ocean? ) In general, wherever you go, it's great everywhere, no matter how modest it may seem from the outside. Portions are most often huge (except for Italian restaurants). For all the time I didn’t like only one pizzeria and a cafe widely advertised on the Internet with a Russian-speaking waiter Madi (they have a disgusting lobster).
The tour is weak. The guide offered the only sightseeing tour: a temple on the water, a jewelry workshop, a woodworking workshop, lunch on a volcano and a hot spring (beautiful, I put wallpaper on my desktop). On the way back we stopped at a cafe where they prepared dishes from snakes. A cocktail of blood and bile of a snake with the addition of wine seemed to us a little expensive ($25), but we tried a python! (you will lick your fingers, although you had to dig into the bones).
We went rafting, diving, elephant safaris, visited the spa (I highly recommend Juli`s Spa on Kartika Plaza Street: for 3 hours of baldezha they gave only 240.000 rupees ($ 26) per person). Although the prices in decent salons are much higher. However, the upside is that from any coast they will provide you with a free transfer.
By the way, be sure to take a brochure about Bali in Russian upon arrival at the airport, it was very useful to us. So we went to Turtle Island and diving (on a call, we were picked up from the hotel without any problems, taken to Nusa Dua to the diving center and returned back).
In general, ordering excursions from a guide is very unprofitable, so it’s better to take a car and drive anywhere and everywhere really sensible. Although there is nowhere to go there. We went to the monkey forest for $ 10 per person (for some, this is terrible, because, when they see food, the monkeys start jumping on your back, fighting among themselves . . in general, the spectacle is not for the faint of heart . . although, to be honest, food is generally forbidden to take there . . we were protected by a lady with a stick, who then forcibly dragged us to her boutique (this is like a form of encouragement for services )), an orchid park (well, you can see) and a crocodile farm (there are few people there, crocodiles are all pretending to be dead . . only at the performance we realized that they are actually alive ).
In general, we did not feel Bali, because the guide turned out to be weak in Russian. The Balinese, despite their seemingly friendly appearance, are actually quite vicious. Behind the eyes they can openly laugh and say all sorts of nasty things. Once in a shop, a husband almost got into a fight with one of these (he behaved completely unceremoniously). Annoyingly spread out everywhere, offerings are a source of dirt, huge red cockroaches even in large supermarkets and rats.
Of the souvenirs, wooden figures are impressive, we brought both ourselves and as a gift. While they seem to feel good (there is a lot of humidity, they were afraid that they would dry out). But look carefully: there are a lot of fakes on the street trade!
You need to bring dollars to Bali, the exchange rate of the rupee is 1 $ = 9000 rupees. In street exchangers they often deceive: the rate is set high, but then a commission is taken from somewhere. It is better to change in large exchangers (we changed in Kodak). The rate of 9100-9125 rupees per dollar is considered good. Be careful - they do not accept old banknotes (before 2001), because at one time there were a lot of fakes. Or accept, but at a very unfavorable rate. However, they like to give change in old bucks, even at the airport, so pay attention to this. We left such banknotes for duty free (in Bali, by the way, it is cheaper than in Singapore, but there is less choice. By the way, there is a store in Bali where you can buy duty free goods. The guide issued a discount coupon. )
After a 14-day stay in Bali and a 2-hour flight, we ended up in Singapore, a miracle state. On the way, they broke the wheel of a suitcase bought the day before in Bali, so you won’t believe it, they repaired it for us ! ! For a Russian person, this is generally something out of the ordinary ! ! Due to long explanations in poor English, we were late for the transfer to the hotel, we got by taxi. Believe it or not, we got paid for it! Just some miracles! We stayed at the Park Royal Hotel. Very much even anything, though and it is compact. There is an outdoor pool on the 4th floor. We left the hotel at 19.00, at 12.00 we were asked to vacate the rooms, but at the same time we could use all the hotel services before departure, including the pool.
Guide Olga on the survey was just great! She is the best among the guides (at least everyone knows her, respects her and tries to learn from her). They listened to her with their mouths open. Skyscrapers are amazing! There was not much to see on Sentosa Island: the museum is ridiculous, the laser show is unfinished. We visited the zoo on our own (excellent, but you get tired: it takes a lot of time to get around everything), of course, we rode the new Singapur Flyer (ferris wheel 165m). Closed cabins for 28 people with air conditioning and a TV, but expected more: the height was not felt, although the pictures are cool. We climbed to the 70th floor of the highest hotel in a few seconds - impressive! It’s like in space: your ears are pawned and breakfast threatens to pop out)) The night zoo is not very good: if you look at someone somewhere under the moon or a lantern, it’s good)) I was only impressed by the leopard trail - it’s scary, even though we didn’t see anyone But it’s better to visit during the day. I really liked the metro - cooler than in Moscow. They even have closed platforms. The carriages are very clean, as in general in Singapore. You can walk in the deepest night without any fear: it is very calm there. We came without hind legs around 3 am and fell into a dead sleep.
A good exchange rate for the Singapore dollar is 1.35 against the US dollar. It is not always profitable to change in hotels. Although where. There are money changers in every big store.
The food is disgusting. Or we just got into Chinese cafes. There was simply no time to look for European food, although I have no doubt that it is. And in Chinese it is very noisy, everything is either very spicy or very sweet. We remained hungry, although we are not considered fussy.
Both Bali and Singapore are very hot - always over 30°C. In Singapore, although there was no sun, things did not change. In closed establishments, they do not spare money for air conditioning. And the rooms are just cold. But you get used to it.
Singapore is a thing, I immediately wanted to emigrate there! )))
