Zagreb, 10 ticks
Before ticking the boxes: the main rule in Zagreb is not to think about it, there is a lot of time for sightseeing, but few sights, just relax.
1. In the morning, find the funicular and go up to Gorniy grad. Do not be surprised that, for example, at 10 am you will be the only passenger. Coming out of the funicular, do not run away, see enough of the city, sit on a bench with the poet Matos, spot a cafe on the hillside, it is not necessary to go down to it, but go deeper into the city. Admire the multi-colored tiles on the roof of St. Mark's Cathedral, see the Parliament, find the windows in the houses entwined with ivy, go to the observation deck with a view of the Dolniy grad, the Capitol and the fortress wall. Look into the distance and see the mountains. Go down a few steps into the arch and find a cafe, be glad that you didn’t go down the first one, and drink coffee. Return to the observation deck and go down the streets through the arch to Radicha Street and remember Prague.
2. Go along the Krvavi Most alley to Tkaldzhicha street with many street cafes, sit down in one of them and order wine or beer, and if you want to be like the locals, then coffee, cigarettes and a newspaper. If you get here on a day off, be prepared that by 12 all the places of the cafe will be occupied, the local tradition is to get out with the whole family or company to the city, and also come to the capital from the surrounding cities. Walk down the street, smile at a naked lady in the window or take a picture with her, an iron lady. It’s better to look into all the nooks and alleys-stairs, it’s better during the day and not alone, but it’s more interesting to look at night. Stairs lead to residential buildings, which are located on a parallel street one level higher. Looking at them, understand that here Zagreb is very reminiscent of Budapest. Exit to the square to the fortress wall.
3. Look at the medieval tower and say that here Zagreb resembles Tallinn. Look into the Cathedral, then sit down on a bench and look around.
4. Get to Vlaska Street and watch the city next to the writer August Shenoa.
5. Visit the central square of Jeladzic, visit Vinodol on Tesla street for lunch or dinner. Order tomato or beef soup, meat: splash, cevapcici and wine.
6. Remember the mysterious word Mimar, which was found in guidebooks and maps, go in search of this art gallery. Along the way, get acquainted with the repertoire of the National Theater and, perhaps, make plans for the evening.
7. Walk along the alleys of the botanical garden, meet tourists at the fountains near the Regent Hotel, if you did not meet tourists in the restaurant, then these may be the first tourists you meet for the day. To greet Tomislav on the square near the station, walk in the shade of plane trees, remembering Odessa, admire the magnificent pavilions, thinking about Vienna, and unwittingly find yourself again in the central square.
8. Walk along the streets adjacent to the central square, where shops will remind you of Helsinki, and cafes of Prague, sit down in one of them, order coffee or something stronger, for example, slivovitz or herbal tea.
9. Find a river on the map and decide that it is worth visiting the embankment. The wrong decision, it is better to take a taxi or find the right transport and go to Lake Bundek. See the swans, come closer and be surprised that there are pebbles on the shore of the lake. Sit in a cafe and relax.
10. Find time and transport to go to the sea, to the coast a little more than 100, the nearest resort is Opatija, a modestly fashionable town. Catch the resemblance to the Karlovy Vary resort, count the number of five-star hotels, take a walk in the park, breathe in the sea. Leaving Opatija, Want to visit Rijeki, which is visible on the horizon, or drop by the island without vowels Krk, which is within easy reach.
