Excursion to Croatian Dubrovnik from Montenegro
This review is especially for those who are interested in a trip to Dubrovnik from Montenegro in 2013. Since Croatia joined the European Union in July of this year, excursions from sister country Montenegro have drastically decreased. now only those who have a multivisa are allowed there. We traveled from the Pilon tour operator, they recruit small groups of 8-10 people, local travel agencies do not do this tour at all due to low demand. When we were on the border with Croatia, Serbian border guards dropped off an elderly couple who were sure they had a Schengen visa, but the visa turned out to be overdue. Our guide ordered a taxi for them (60 euros to Podgorica) and returned the cost of the tour, apparently they took pity on the pensioners. Why no one checked the availability and validity of the visa when they took money for the tour is a mystery to me.
So, the bus picks up all the tourists to Budva and heads towards Tivat, from there - a ferry crossing to the other side of the bay and about an hour to the border with Croatia. At the border, you can stand from 20 minutes to 2 hours, buses go along a separate corridor. We were "lucky" to get stuck for an hour - there were 2 double-decker buses ahead. Strict Serbian guys do not let buses into other corridors, even if they are free.
From the border to Dubrovnik another 30 minutes, stop for a photo break at the entrance to the city and here we are in Dubrovnik!
A 1.5-hour city tour is led by a former Odessa guide Katarina. The story from her mouth, generously flavored with jokes, jokes, is perceived easily even in the midday heat. She will tell you where to eat deliciously (she highly recommends the Nava restaurant, where they cook seafood in front of you and everything is unrealistically delicious, lunch cost us about 20 euros), where to exchange euros for Croatian kunas (both currencies are accepted in Croatia), what to buy at the local bazaar and how to get on the lift or go to the pleasure boats.
Further independent program 3 hours. During this time we managed to eat, buy souvenirs, went up to the lift (but did not have time to go upstairs) and take a boat trip for 11 euros to the island of Lokrum. I highly recommend the island to exotic lovers - the island itself is beautiful, palm trees, flowers, conifers, and olive groves grow there, but the peacocks are the highlight of the island. They are everywhere - under your feet, over your head. It is important to take care of small chicks and are absolutely not afraid of tourists. There you can relax, swim, and just lie in the shade...
The way back along the same route, and if you're lucky, you will be delivered to Budva at 18-00.
Have a good trip!
