This hotel is perfect in every way. The only relative minus is the high price of accommodation, but at the same time, the impression of the hotel is “not a pity for a penny”.
The choice in favor of Croatia was made because, unlike Turkey and Montenegro, Croatia required PCR for entry, this gave a small chance that there would be no sick people on the plane from Kyiv.
I want to say that I personally really liked traveling in this format - everything is clean, beautiful, there are few people, no one climbs on their heads either at the airport or on the beach. I'm afraid that next time it won't be like this - judging by the reviews, the Croatian coast in August is quite crowded at normal times.
The hotel is located in the middle between two towns - Brela on one side and Baska Voda on the other, and stands on one of the most beautiful European beaches. In fact, there are three beaches near the hotel - very small pebbles with paid sunbeds and umbrellas, larger pebbles - there are hotel free sunbeds and beautiful large umbrellas, and the third, where there are large pebbles without sunbeds, but with inflatable slides in the sea. At about 11 o'clock, a local uncle arrives on a motorboat-fruit shop, brings local inexpensive figs and watermelons and the entire range of summer fruits from the supermarket at prices about three times higher than in Kiev.
A little above the beach, at the beginning of the stairs to the hotel, there is a small restaurant, also belonging to Berulia. It has very good cuisine, snow-white starched napkins, prices are normal, slightly higher than in Brela.
The staircase leads past the pools and the terrace of the restaurant to the entrance to the hotel and has about 100 steps. It will be difficult for the elderly, unhealthy, people with disabilities to overcome them. There is another road around the hotel on the roadway, but I would still recommend choosing a more flat hotel.
The hotel has recently undergone a complete refurbishment. Croatia is full of "Soviet" hotels, and photographs of Berulia raised fears that she was one of them. But the operator claimed that everything was fresh and new, and so it turned out. Modern repair, plumbing, appliances work without interruption. We booked a superior room with sea view and it was the best decision. Stunning sunsets, sea, opposite islands, pine trees. We fell in love with Croatia! The rooms have large balconies with glass railings.
The superior rooms are quite spacious, with a double bed, a fold-out full-size bed, an armchair with a small table and a small dining table with chairs. Safe, mini-bar, bathrobes - everything, as everywhere in hotels of this level. They cleaned very high quality, served unobtrusively, for all the time they only saw the maid once. Perhaps this is due to the anti-covid measures that have been taken at the hotel. Among them, the main one is the small occupancy of the hotel, in my opinion, about half of the rooms were empty. More than one family or one person was asked not to enter the elevator. Most of the time they walked up the stairs. Masks were handed out at the reception and in the restaurant, they were asked to put them on indoors, except for rooms and the restaurant, sanitizers are everywhere. All staff wear masks at all times, including on the open terraces of restaurants, near pools, etc.
WiFi is free and it catches well everywhere, including reaching the beach.
The restaurant deserves the highest praise, the cuisine is excellent, the service is impeccable. Absolutely everything was prepared qualitatively and tasty. A showcase with hot meat dishes, a showcase with hot fish dishes, another with appetizers, a separate wok, separate salads. Roasting not suitable? Wait a minute, let's do just the way you like it. Small table with small desserts : ) No huge puffy biscuits with synthetic cream, as is often the case in hotels. Everything is neat, small, with a soul, as the table is empty, they bring more and more desserts.
We had breakfast and dinner paid for, we went to a restaurant above the beach for lunch.
Every evening there was some kind of event on the terrace of the bar. Most often, artists sang, but there were also entertainments like a fire show.
Brela and Baska Voda are connected by a small footpath along the beach, it is very pleasant to walk along it in the evening, closer to the towns it passes by bars and cafes.
The locals are very friendly and cultured, nice, neat and calm. No rudeness, no obsession, no rubbish. The embankment looks like it is vacuumed every morning. And maybe it is : )
I would very much like to come back to Croatia, travel to different places, around the islands, but also definitely come back to Berulia again.
Z. Y. Accounts are confusing. A handful of our checks were not claimed at the reception, but another handful was counted, we could not identify these expenses. According to our calculations, the hotel took a little less than we signed the bills. But it could be the other way around, so check your bills.
While writing a review, prices for the summer of 2021 appeared. Did the operator set the price higher than last year by 600 euros? The hotel website, on the contrary, offers discounts.
48 kunas), they immediately took 2 beach towels (100 kunas deposit, take it away at check-out, change it in the gym), sunbeds on the beach 25 kunas 1 sunbed, umbrella 25 kunas per day, went for a massage (9.00-13.00, 30 min = 150 kuns ), went on excursions to Dubrovnik (410 kn per person), Krka + Sibenik waterfalls (450 kn per person). I liked everything very much, especially Dubrovnik and our guide Iridescent (IBCI company), very cheerful and interesting, many thanks to her!
Rooms: Having visited three rooms in the Berulia Beach building, I can confidently say that all rooms are the same, but the best in size and view from balcony 157 (I really hope that the problem with "pets" was solved).
The room has two beds (can be used as one large, but two mattresses, or two separate 90 cm can be moved apart), a small non-flat TV (from Russian only Euronews, the rest in German and Croatian), mini-bar, safe, wardrobe (9 hangers), 2 bedside tables, dressing table with mirror, full-length mirror, 1 chair, table, air conditioning. The bathroom is standard, shower, hair dryer. There is no iron in the room, but we took a travel iron (very helpful). Everything is clean and tidy. Furniture is good, mattresses and pillows are comfortable.
Meals: We took breakfast (7-10) and dinner (19-21). We had enough of everything, in the afternoon we went for a walk and had a snack. Food buffet. The choice of dishes varied, it pleased. For breakfast, all drinks are free, for dinner, all drinks (and water) are paid. We always ordered 1 liter of mineral water 26 kunas (they gave 30, and took a bottle with us), a couple of times we took juice 22 kunas (payment by check).
Waiter service (sit where the guys serve, they are friendlier).
Beach: small, small pebbles, but there are always places, there are sunbeds near the water, you can lie on bedding near the wall, it’s convenient to enter the sea 3 meters, then a strip of very large stones begins, then everything is fine again (we took aqua shoes with us). The water is amazing! No matter how far each pebble at the bottom swims, you can see it!
There were no special entertainments for children, except for evening mini-discos with animators, in the restaurant near the central building there is live music and songs almost every day, there is also a cafe closer to the sea. There is mini-golf, table tennis, gym, billiards, sauna, massage.
I really liked the country, the nature is beautiful, especially in Brela, the hotel is a solid four! Russian-speakers are treated with more restraint than Germans, but respectfully and affably.
From the hotel to the right immediately Baska voda, to the center go 5-10 minutes, to the left along the Brela promenade. Brela is more picturesque, but less developed than Baska Voda in terms of shops, restaurants, exchange offices.
If we talk about the location of the hotel, then it is an hour's drive from the airport in Split. This road will not seem tedious, because you will observe incredible sea and mountain landscapes, you will pass the city of Omiš , which used to be a pirate town and now still retains this pirate spirit, and, of course, you will be shown the National Nature Park of Croatia - Mount Biokovo.
Well, now directly about the hotel. It itself is low, only 5 floors and consists of 3 buildings - A, B and C. We were settled in building A, which, as we later learned, is the main one there, with an honest view of the sea. There were also people who booked a room overlooking the park, but an unpleasant story happened to them. First, they were placed in a room whose windows overlooked the wall of the neighboring building, so there could be no talk of any park, but the second time they were given a room with a side view of the park. In general, it is better not to spare two hundred euros initially, buying a room with a sea view, so that later it would not be excruciatingly painful.
The hotel does not have its own beach, and frankly, in Croatia you rarely find a hotel that has its own beach. Most of the beaches here are municipal, but the entrance to them, of course, is free, but only sunbeds and umbrellas are paid (25 kunas per day). It is literally 30 meters from the Marina to the beach, you just need to go down the stairs that pass through the pine park, where lovely coniferous aromas hover, cicadas sing and early in the morning you can even see squirrels jumping from branch to branch. The beach itself is pebbly, very clean with a gentle entry into the sea, which is very convenient for both children and adults. A little further on is the Punta Rata beach, marked with the blue flag of UNESCO and one of the cleanest beaches on the Adriatic coast. Quite a lot of people put on water slippers, in which they went into the sea and swam, so that it was easy to walk on pebbles. We didn’t feel much discomfort, we also didn’t feel mortal pain, and therefore we didn’t buy slippers. But this is, as they say, up to you; )
The food at the hotel is good, but at the end of the holiday, the same type of breakfasts (omelettes, scrambled eggs, sausages, cheeses, cereals, etc. ) are already rather tired. In fairness, it should be said that the dinners were more varied, each evening of our stay included different dishes of both national and European cuisine, often Italian (various risottos, pizzas, bologneses, spaghetti... ). I especially remember the cakes, different every day, with different fillings... I still remember them : )) There were also fruits, but their quality was sometimes "lame": melons were unripe, unsweetened watermelons, plums too. By far the biggest inconvenience was that for dinner ALL drinks are paid, but this is the order in all half boards.
A noticeable disadvantage for young people here is the lack of entertainment. The town of Brela itself is small, quiet, with many cafes. There are catastrophically few animations in the hotel, so if the main purpose of the visit is to hang out, definitely choose another place. It is ideal for young families with children, married couples, pensioners, but, I repeat, not for noisy companies.
The room was very clean. Every day, not only wet cleaning was carried out, but also the floors were washed, towels were changed. Bed linen is changed every 5 days, but pillowcases are changed every day. In general, it is impossible to find fault with the cleaning, since there was not even a hint of dust and dirt in the room.
For those who are in Croatia for the first time, I highly recommend going on an excursion to Plitvice Lakes, the beauty is extraordinary, as if in paradise! There you will take a lot of beautiful photos and see the masterpieces created by nature!
So feel free to go to Croatia, to Bluesun Marina and don't worry about anything. This country will enchant you and I am sure that you will DEFINITELY come here again!
Liked the hotel very much. And the location (away from everything), and the food and living conditions. We were lucky by chance, we lived on the 5th floor of the leftmost wing of the hotel, which is closest to the sea, so the view was very good.
