We held a conference at the Empire Wan Chai Hotel and I am writing my review from this point of view.
The hotel is in an extremely convenient location. Within walking distance of the subway, expensive shopping centers and cheap markets, ground transport stops (including to the best beaches in Hong Kong), a free shuttle to the Aeroexpress stops right opposite. Opposite the entrance to the hotel there is an exchange office (very convenient). Nearby bars, restaurants, massage parlor, various shops...
The hotel has rooms with a city view and without a view. They are similar in equipment, but those without a view overlook the close walls of neighboring houses (micro well).
The rooms are good - plumbing, furniture, etc. - everything corresponds to 4 *. Each room has a kettle, free tea and coffee bags, as well as a bathrobe, slippers and bath kits. There is only 1 adapter in the room - take tees)). One room out of 98 in our group was missing one dispenser. From experience, this is a very good indicator for a mid-range hotel.
There are smoking rooms. Cleaning daily. It seems that the cleaners do not take tips (we and some group guests were not taken).
The hotel has a small rooftop outdoor pool and a fitness room (separate towels are provided upon visit).
The restaurant cooks well. We took buffet breakfasts and dinners, and did not regret it: the assortment is wide (especially at dinner), everything is delicious, the staff quickly cleans dirty dishes.
Separately, I want to note the friendliness of the staff: the concierges did not get tired of each of our guests to draw on the map how to get to all the objects that interested them; hailed a taxi, dragged our suitcases (however, this is probably in the order of things) - and all with courtesy and a smile. The reception staff also resolved all the questions of the guests on the spot and without negativity, which greatly facilitated our organizational burden.
At the reception you can exchange USD for Hong Kong dollars, which is very convenient (the rate at the end of September was 7.5; in the city 7.6). Of course, cards are accepted for payment.
Our members deposited in cash to avoid long waiting times for their credit cards to be unlocked, so depositing was no problem either (approximately 500 HKD/day).
The overall impression of staying at the hotel is "5+"! Extremely good location + attention and friendliness of the staff left the desire to return there again.
