In 2017, we rested near the city of Zakynthos in Argassi. And this time we decided to explore the east of the island and chose the village of Alykes for recreation. It is a 30-minute drive from the airport and the capital. There are supermarkets, souvenir shops, ATMs, and with the onset of the evening, bars and restaurants come to life, live music plays from everywhere, some sing karaoke, some play instruments. There is where to walk, for example, in the neighboring village of Alikanas. There is more choice in supermarkets, restaurants, and the only nearest pharmacy was there. It was also not difficult to get to Zakynthos. There is a regular bus from Alykes, 4 times a day, except Sunday. The ticket costs 1.80 euros, they bring it to the bus station. Zakynthos is a very small city, but catchy with its atmosphere, it really looks like a little Venice.
We spent our holidays in the Piccadilly apartments. We stayed in a studio room with two single beds and a kitchenette. Refrigerator, electric stove, kettle and dishes, very conveniently separates the kitchenette and the bedroom a small island on which we ate. There is a TV, hairdryer, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi in the room. Safe at reception is free. Cleaned every day, everything is clean and tidy, and bed linen changed 2 times a week.
Our package included breakfast and dinner. Breakfasts are modest, but had everything you need to start the day well: dairy products, pastries, toast, fruits and vegetables, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. All this was carried by the cook Yuri, he is Russian-speaking, so sometimes he helped us at the reception with translation. For dinner, a customized menu, but if you wanted something else, you could even order seafood for an additional fee, the restaurant at the hotel was open to everyone.
The sea is 100 meters away, and the beach in Alykes is very good, with soft sand and a gentle entrance. The water is clean and warm, shimmering with all the colors of blue and blue. Rested just great. We would like to thank the hotel staff and the hotel guide Zhanna for a wonderful relaxing holiday. We will definitely come back here again.

But, oddly enough, both breakfast and dinner were very tasty and hearty. And the latter is also diverse, ranging from simple dishes to dishes of national Greek cuisine and seafood. From the national ones, I advise you to try moussaka. Very tasty meat casserole with vegetables. There is also an a la carte restaurant. Those. You can pay extra and go to eat there, if you wish. The beach is sandy, but you need to walk 50 meters from the hotel. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available, but paid. This is a minus, of course.

I first went on the Turtle Cruise because I had long dreamed of seeing these huge animals. What I did! After that, there was an entertaining sea voyage and a couple of stops for swimming in very picturesque places. Not tiring, interesting, lively, in general, cool!
The second excursion I chose was Kefalonia. It can be said that I killed two birds with one stone: that is, I visited both Zakynthos and Kefalonia, a neighboring island. It was very entertaining! This cave with an underground lake, the second one with stalactites, a beautiful beach… The monastery blew my mind! So big, beautiful, and a cave inside. All in all, the day went well. To get, however, an hour and a half by ferry, but there is no other way!

The owner of the hotel was very hospitable, as was the rest of the staff. The food was delicious, plentiful and varied. Since my son is very small, it was not superfluous to have a children's menu.
The only drawback is that the village was far from the city of Zakynthos and the transport connection with it is poorly established. Therefore, if you decide to take a walk around the capital, you should always keep an eye on the time of the buses. Or take a taxi back.
Well, I would like to share my impressions about the excursions. The first was to visit the Askos Zoo and swim at Xigia Beach. The children were just happy! They really liked the zoo, especially the fact that you can stroke and feed some of the animals. And I liked the hydrogen sulfide sources more. The other is a trip to the neighboring island of Kefalonia. Since we wanted something more than just a sightseeing tour of the island, we took VIP-Kefalonia, with swimming on Myrtos beach. And no one remained indifferent. No matter what and whoever says, but the tour is worth the money, time and effort spent. Although we arrived at the hotel very tired, but happy! Therefore, special thanks to the tour guides who accompanied us all the time, for the completeness and presentation of the most interesting information that both I and my children now own. Holidays will be remembered for a long time!

I liked the hotel itself. The room is comfortable, no frills. For a budget and economical holiday just right. Price and quality match each other, which is important. Very pleased with the staff! Such kind and sympathetic people, always helped in any matter. In addition to the hotel guide, there was also a Russian-speaking waitress, so communication with the staff was free.

The beach was nearby, sandy, pleasant. We saw the famous carriage-carriage turtles several times!!
