In March 2008 we were returning with a group of pilgrims from Mount Athos. The "transfer point" was the hotel Orestias Kastorias in Thessaloniki. We didn’t know anything about him, we drove blindly, for one night before flying to Moscow. Arriving in Thessaloniki by taxi from the bus station, we saw this hotel in an ordinary old house, two floors of which are actually a hotel, and above it seems to be ordinary housing. The hotel turned out to be clean, comfortable and very conveniently located - right across the road is the church of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica - the patron saint of Thessaloniki, very revered in this city. So, pluses - location, clean rooms. Minus - there is no breakfast as such, there are thermoses with coffee and tea in the hall all day, and a large vase of cookies. True, this can be used all day, without restrictions. Another minus is a very small and uncomfortable bathroom without a curtain, after a shower everything around is in the water. The rooms are cramped, the TV is quite small. The hotel is suitable for pilgrims, because. there are many churches and historical monuments around. Accommodation is generally inexpensive.
