Just returned from ZORBAS, stayed for a week in mid-July 2012. The ticket was taken last minute, and therefore the price was not stressful. As for the hotel: we must immediately warn you that at least elementary knowledge of English (or German) will not be superfluous at all - there are absolutely no Russian-speaking staff (as well as animators). A pleasant exception is a guy named Stratos, who works at the registration desk and can speak Russian relatively well. Nobody else. The territory of the hotel is large, well-groomed. Three swimming pools, two of them - with a bar, two - right next to the sea, 40 meters away. Cleanliness is strictly monitored. The buildings themselves are basically two-story bungalows, rooms for 8-10, connected by arches, so that the impression of a complete complex is created. The rooms are standard, with balconies and bathroom, air conditioning and TV. Regarding the beach - do not believe the scriptures that its width is 2.5 meters. At least five! The beach is separated from the hotel by a road with completely light traffic. They wrote that the beach is sandy and pebbly - this is not so. Sandy, and two or three meters from the shore - sand and cobblestones, a strip of stones several meters wide stretches under water along the coast. But when you cross it - a flat sandy bottom, gently sloping, so you can walk about fifty meters (good for those with children). On the beach - a row of trees (it is not clear how they grow on the surf), umbrellas and sun loungers. There is a shower and a faucet for washing sand off your feet. The guide said that umbrellas and sun loungers were paid, but they never demanded anything from anyone for using them. The cuisine this season is beyond praise! The restaurant is a buffet, always several types of meat, grill, the menu varies daily (along with regular dishes, something new every day). The dishes are delicious. Two types of wine - white and red wine, good, not body and not powdered (as is often the case in Turkey). Watermelon, melon, mix of apples, pears, oranges, nectarine - daily. Beer - in bars and in a restaurant (as for me, the Turkish Ephesus is better). Lots of cakes and pastries. There are tables on the terrace, sheltered from the sun, and indoors. Never had a problem with the lack of any dish on the menu or places in the restaurant. To be honest, not every five-star hotel can boast of such a restaurant. They wrote in the reviews that the orders are democratic - they do not interfere with the take-out of dishes - it's true. But why do it? There is a snack bar - pancakes (with sugar or chocolate) are baked from morning to evening, and hot dogs are also there. As for drinks: I already wrote about good wine, but with stronger ones - not everything is so good: there is local vodka, oazu, gin, whiskey, brandy - everything is 30-degree and rather lousy. It can be recommended to drink only in the form of cocktails (our company preferred with cola). There is an a la carte restaurant, but we were not impressed. You order dishes in advance, but they are not very different from the main ones - only what the waiter serves. Well, now about what does not fit into the idea of a good holiday: the animation is only in English (although the numbers are mostly musical, so not so bad). Worse, they only provide soap in the rooms. No shampoo! So either go to the store, or not my head... Fortunately, we had a couple of bags lying around in the travel bag, and that was all. But with water... The mini-bar in the room is not filled and replenished! Again, go to the store... True, those who took water on the road and saved containers, water or drinks for the mini-bar were collected in a restaurant or in bars, and the staff did not interfere with this, or even helped. But this does not correspond to a four-star hotel! The obvious extortion with a safe in the room seemed unpleasant - in seven days they demanded payment of 30 euros! At six dollars a day, I had never seen such prices for using a safe in any hotel on any continent before. Thank God, there was not much cash, and he did not consider it necessary to hide the card in the safe. Another feature that beginners fall for is that bars after 23-00 are paid, and if you don’t look at your watch, then they will give you the same thing that you recently took for free, and THEN they will bring the bill with a sweet smile. So I had to part with 10 euros out of the blue. The staff sometimes falls short - for two days they sought to repair the TV remote control (it was simply replaced in the end). And three days - the settings of the Russian-language TV channel. Made ORT. Another inconvenience is the village of Tigaki, 2-2.5 km from the hotel, so you have to take a walk along the seashore. The village has a lot of shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a travel agency that sells Russian-language excursions, but they are much more expensive than English- or German-speaking ones. But for guides who strive to sell excursions from their travel agency, prices are even higher. The capital of the island of Kos - the city of the same name - is 20 km away. You can go there by regular bus for 2 euros, buy a Russian-language guidebook and explore the city - it's worth it. In general, these fresh notes of Zorbas, who has just returned from the hotel, I hope, will help those who go there for the first time to orient themselves. And from myself I will say - look for the good in the rest, and do not get hung up on the shortcomings. And try to avoid those pitfalls (literally and figuratively) that I wrote about here. And in conclusion, I note that the hotel, in general, fully corresponds to the four declared stars, and if the shortcomings that I wrote about are eliminated, then even inveterate skeptics will not have any reason to dispute its current status. . In general, it can be confirmed that the hotel is good for families with children, for a relaxing holiday for couples, or for company holidays, regardless of age. Personally, we were generally satisfied with our vacation in Zorbas, but next time we will go to explore another hotel.

(And there was hope for them). The beach is across the road in the form of a narrow coastal strip. The water in the sea and in the pools is reassuringly cool. (beginning of the season). Beach chairs from the hotel are free. At 700 meters from the hotel there are city beaches with paid sunbeds. Approximately 1.5-2 km from the hotel is the village of Tigaki, where cafes, restaurants, rental shops (bicycles, scooters, ATVs, cars), a supermarket "Konstantinos" are located along one street. There is a rental point for all the listed vehicles near the hotel. We rented a Suzuki Jimmy car for 3 days 200 euros (through a guide). Thanks to this, we traveled almost all the sights of the island (fortunately, its size allowed it to be done). They chose a place for swimming - thermal hydrogen sulfide springs. The water temperature of this font is probably 45-50 degrees. At this time of the year, you can even lie down in it, by the end of the season, the depth is only ankle-deep (according to the guide). After a hot bath in the sea, the effect is super!! ! In the town of Plaka there is a clearing where peacocks live, at this time of the year they have a mating season. On the recommendation of the guide, they took sausage and cheese with them, with which they were fed. Some of them were not even afraid to take food from their hands. I also advise you to take an excursion to the island of Nisyros and go down into the crater of a dormant volcano. From the hotel to the town of Kos, you can also take a city bus, which runs according to the schedule. From Kos by boat in 20 minutes you can walk to Bodrum (Turkey). 7 days was enough, there is nothing to do longer. I recommend this hotel for a quiet family vacation.
