Just recently returned from the Cretan Malia Park 4 * hotel, which is located near Malia, Crete.
Let's start with the advantages of the hotel:
1/ Very well-groomed territory - the hotel is simply immersed in greenery, which is not typical for hotels in Crete - there are many trees, flowers, a lawn throughout and all this is carefully monitored.
2/ The hotel has 2.5 swimming pools of different depths - suitable for both children and adults. For very young children there is a small "paddling pool" - that's why I say that there are 2.5 pools))
3/ There is no need to borrow sunbeds - there are many, indeed a lot - both by the pool, and by the sea, and for those who want to lie down in the shade of the park.
4/ The number of rooms is standard - I can’t say that the furniture is all new, but in principle there is nothing to complain about (there is a hair dryer, air conditioning, refrigerator, TV, shower towels and towels for the beach).

I recommend renting a bungalow, not a room in the main building: at the bungalow opposite the pool - the water is very close - you can go out and dive; in the bungalow in the park it’s very cool to sit on the balcony in the evening with wine - it’s very cozy, a bungalow with a sea view ....they didn’t live in it, but they are not very comfortable, and in my opinion the sea is hard to see there.
5 / Animation is also very active - during the day everyone is entertained by the pool (especially children, there are Russian animators) and in the evening they give concerts (although the program was often repeated). Here I want to pay attention to people who will rent a room in the main building (not a bungalow) - concerts in the evening are held right in front of the main building, they are quite loud and long - so be prepared to listen to the program every evening from the room.
6 / Sea - the hotel has its own beach (sunbeds and umbrellas are free), the entrance is sandy and quite comfortable, but in some places there are stones at the bottom.
7/Contingent - couples, families and the elderly.
8 / There are bars and restaurants on the territory of the hotel, but the best ones are outside its territory ....I really liked the "Cretan family" tavern, which is 5 minutes from the hotel (if you go out onto the road and turn left (on the way from Malia) ). Our most expensive bill was 50 euros for dinner (salads, fish, mussels, wine for two), the average check, I would say that 15-20 euros per person.
9/ Not many small pleasant things yet: they will meet you with fruit and wine, they will take and bring your luggage, there is internet (paid - 3 hours 8 euros), there is free ping pong and billiards, many shops and souvenir shops nearby and, of course, the Greeks themselves - the nicest people

I personally did not find any shortcomings in the hotel (we liked it madly), but if you find fault, then:
1/ there is no iron and they do not give it out at the reception - visit with you
2/ we lived only for breakfast, so I’m only talking about breakfast - a monotonous English breakfast - there was no desire to go to it)
that's probably all the shortcomings)

Good luck on your holiday!
