We went in September, the temperature did not drop below 30 degrees. The sea is clean, blue, beautiful, warm, transparent... such as the sea should be : )
A little about the hotel. Since we were not going to Crete to sit in a room, we didn’t expect a particularly good hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised by Dimiko, we were given a large room with air conditioning (free of charge) and a balcony. Cleaned every day, without straining in the morning. The location of the hotel is very good in the sense that it is located in the very center of Hersonissos, but on a fairly quiet street, our windows overlooked a quiet street parallel to the central one (we understood that the quietest rooms are those that overlook this street or the pool ).
Food. The food at the hotel is not very tasty and varied, and you can dine in restaurants for 20 euros for two, if in a modest way... and if in a very modest way, you can eat sandwiches, pizza or shawarma (gyros)...

Excursions. We decided not to contact our guide, whom we saw 2 times during the holiday, because we had heard that it was cheaper to manage on our own. There are a lot of tour desks where you can choose excursions for every taste (all the same as with a guide, but cheaper). For example, you can get to Knossos by bus to Heraklion for 2.9, there is a transfer, and then the bus to Knossos for 1.3, the entrance is 6 euros, only, of course, without a guide. Santorini, too, instead of 130 euros, we visited for 100 euros per person. Cars are rented at every step, from 80 euros for 3 days with all insurances. Surprisingly, when we returned the car, they did not even look at it. In general, take a car, a map, a guidebook and drive around half the island in three days, it’s very beautiful. The signs on the roads are in English and the people are very sociable, so you won't get lost.
Hersonissos itself is a small village, but very party-like, all the bars turn into discos in the evening, the entrance to which is free. . .
They took 1000 euros for 12 days, it was enough back to back, but this is for 3 excursions, a car, food, gasoline (1.3 euros / liter), discos, gifts...
In general, I liked everything very much, it turned out to be a very active, varied, interesting vacation. We advise everyone. And the hotel is also very good.
