I hope my review will be useful for those who travel to this hotel or to Hersonissos in general. Since the memories are still fresh, I can write a lot of useful information : )
So,
general information
Hersonissos is a town, I would even say a village, 25 km from the airport and 27 from Heraklion. The town is small, mostly built up with villas and small hotels. There is a promenade with many cafes and restaurants, discos. Supermarkets and souvenir shops are also available, they usually work until late, which cannot be said about other institutions - banks, hospitals, etc. are already closed in the afternoon. Not far from the city there is a huge water park. The town itself is unremarkable in terms of excursions.
Hotel conditions

2 star hotel, but quite decent. 4 floors - on the first hall, bar and reception, free wi-fi in the hall (no rooms) and a small library, including in Russian. Each room has a balcony with chairs and a table, but there is nothing else to dry things except on the railing. The rooms are small, furnished - beds (1 double or twin), chairs, table, mirror, wardrobe and bedside table. Each room has air conditioning and a refrigerator - for a fee (approx. 2-3 euros per day), but for example, air conditioning was completely unnecessary, so before you immediately pay for all days, live 1 day "for testing". There is no hair dryer in the room, as well as an iron, and they are not available for a fee, so be aware. Cleaning - every other day, towels are available. In the courtyard of the hotel there is a small nice pool and a clearing with sunbeds and umbrellas - free of charge. The hotel is run by one family, so everyone is very helpful, friendly and helpful, and speak fluent English. Oddly enough, mosquitoes were an unpleasant moment, so arm yourself with creams and fumigators.
Nutrition
Breakfast at the hotel, frankly, meager - sausage, cheese, tea and coffee, cereal, jam and watermelon. And so every day, the menu does not change. If you do not plan to eat all the time in a cafe, I advise you to take a standard tourist set - a boiler and a mug, a tray or a bowl, knives, forks. Buying food (fruits, vegetables, water, etc. ) is no problem, a couple of supermarkets are close to the hotel. On the other hand, the food in the cafe is also quite affordable, the average price for the main (meat or fish) dish is 12 euros, the famous Greek salad is 5 euros. At the end of the meal, you will be pleasantly surprised - they will definitely bring you some kind of treat (ice cream, fruit, coffee) as a gift from the establishment!
Beach
The hotel is really close to the beach, 5 minutes walk. The beaches in Crete are municipal, admission is free. A sunbed and an umbrella will cost you 2 euros per day, but it is quite possible to lie down on a bedspread. It should be noted that although the beach is sandy, there are large stones in the sea near the shore at the bottom, it is not very convenient to enter, you can get hurt, and there are sea urchins there, so take special swimming slippers. But there are places where these stones are not present (for example, on the beach of the Creta Maris hotel, it is on the left hand, so to speak, in the corner of the bay, if you go to the beach from our hotel).
Excursions

There are a lot of offers for excursions. It must be said right away that, as a rule, the tour operator offers its tourists certain excursions. Do not rush to immediately agree to them, go through the surrounding (and there are a lot of them) travel agencies, compare prices. Sometimes you can save up to 30 euros with local travel agencies! Some places can be completely seen on your own, having reached by public transport. For example, an excursion to the Palace of Knossos costs about 40 euros + an entrance ticket, but you will spend 15 euros (fare and entrance ticket if you go yourself. In this case, you will have more time, and you can get a historical reference by joining any Russian-speaking excursion: ) The most unforgettable and really worthwhile excursion is a trip to the island of Santorini. This is really something incredible! It is also worth a trip to Agios Nikolaos and Spinalonga.
General impression
Despite some shortcomings, the impression is still very positive! The hotel is good if you are not looking for some unimaginable comfort that is called "on a silver platter", but you came to see the country and swim in the warm Aegean Sea : )) The Greeks are incredibly sociable, very friendly and almost everything - and very good! - they speak English, and many also speak Russian.
I hope my review is useful to you.
Have a nice rest!
