Because we went on the all-inclusive system, often visited the bar, the impression was that the bartender was a little scoffing, because. if you ask for a glass of water and coffee, I heard one thing, and as soon as I ordered cocktails (for a fee) from 4 positions I was not mistaken in anything, but these are trifles. In general, the staff is friendly and smiling (as well as everything in Crete). Although the towels were changed only after you throw them on the floor and you had to ask for soap (again, little things).
From the excursions they took Fr. Santarinia is the most expensive, but it's worth it, I won't write about it. Much has been written about Santarinia (Fira). They took a car for 3 days, but not in a row, so that the vacation would not resemble the pursuit of novelty, they alternated. For this, we were given tickets to the Water Park, as a result, out of 11 days of our stay in Crete, we devoted only 3 days to the pure beach. In my opinion, after the Egyptian temples (they were in Luxor), the Cretan palaces and forts are rather boring (they were in Fort Rethymnia, the Palace of Knossos and the Malian Palace), it’s better to walk around their towns. I was very impressed by Agios Nikolaos, Rethymno and Agia Galinia (in the south of the island), unfortunately they did not have time to Chania. But we got to Palm Beach - a palm paradise..... impressive. In general, if someone had advised earlier, I would not waste time on palaces, but it would be better to walk along the streets.
From the local cuisine, I was impressed by frappe coffee (cold with ice), octopus, moussaka and chev salad. Although the taverns are not often visited because of the all-inclusive (on the eve of the trips, they ordered a lunch box).

Finally, I will say. In Crete everyone will find what he likes. If you are a TRAVELER, settle in the city, take excursions and cars, go and explore. If a beach holiday is closer to you, choose a hotel outside the city and enjoy the sea and the beach (by the way, about the beach), it is often rocky there or interspersed with stones. But the sea is interesting, of course it does not reach the Red Sea, but it is clearly more interesting than Turkish. T. Ch if you are not averse to diving with a mask, there you will also have something to see.
Well, you can also hang out there, there are discos, they start working from 01.00, but before 01.30 there is nothing to do there, admission is free, for some reason the prices bite there.
