The hotel leaves a good impression. The village of Platanias is very lively and in the evening there is always where to walk and where to have dinner. It is located perpendicular to the coastline and is separated from the beach on both sides only by restaurants. The beach is sandy, but the entrance to the sea is quite difficult due to large pebbles and often rough seas. Sunbeds and umbrellas - paid (5 euros per day for two sunbeds and an umbrella). There are few people on the beach.
The hotel consists of several complexes. Rooms are large and well refurbished. A definite plus is the presence of a mini-kitchen, where you can cook something if you wish. The disadvantages of the rooms are the lack of TV, as well as the fact that, due to the entrances to the restaurants, it is quite noisy at night due to cars driving up and leaving. Morning and afternoon - quiet and very comfortable.
Our meals consisted of breakfast. Calling them continental can be a stretch - breakfasts consisted, most often, of scrambled eggs and fried potatoes (quite fatty) plus fresh orange juice and coffee / tea, which is not acceptable for everyone.
The hotel staff consists of a family of owners (the hostess with her husband, their children), as well as one cleaner. The hosts are very friendly with the guests, at the slightest complaint and request they always came to the rescue. Undoubtedly, this is a huge plus. It should be noted that the hotel staff is English-speaking (a characteristic feature of Platanias in general is a small number of Russian-speaking tourists (mainly Scandinavians and French)).
Summing up all of the above - the hotel is worth visiting and left positive emotions about itself in general.
I would also like to draw your attention to two points:
1) if you are flying from Ukraine, the transfer from Heraklion (there are no flights to Chania) is quite long - 170 km. Although, due to the small number of tourists arriving / departing through Heraklion, it brings tourists, most often, a car and not a bus. Tourists from Russia arrive at Chania airport, which is very close and convenient.
2) the host travel agency "Kalamaki Travel" left a negative impression of itself. Based on the experience of communicating with them (we had a manager Svetlana, as well as a senior manager Evgenia Morozova), I got the impression that the main thing for them is not supporting tourists, but selling tours on excursions (despite the fact that prices are a third more expensive than those of travel agencies from the street). Why such a conclusion? In the evening and in the morning, when you have some problems (God forbid), do not try to get through to them - it's impossible, just the managers do not pick up the phone, it's also impossible to get through to the office in the evening.
On the eve of departure (we left around 7 am) no information, despite promises) about the time of the return transfer. Phones were not answered. Early in the morning, I just had to wait for the departure, not having any confidence that they would not "forget" about you. Extremely disrespectful towards tourists.
