And so it all happened: we drove from the airport in 30 minutes, arrived at the reception, where we were met by Anna and the hotel guide Elena. But they asked to wait for the room, so they kindly invited me to breakfast. And then we realized that we would definitely return with extra pounds: the food is very tasty, the products are fresh, everything is very high quality, a wide variety of dishes. Further, we were pleased with the breakfast and the following days. As promised, the room had already been cleaned. We booked a room with a view of the city and did not regret it at all: the sea is, of course, beautiful and amazing, but there is a road in front of the sea and it can be noisy in the evenings. We are far from pensioners, but still we want to sleep peacefully. The hotel also has its own sunbeds and umbrellas, at the reception you can get beach towels. I would like to note the excellent internet and the availability of a safe in the rooms for free. Also in the lobby you will find a gym, swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi. There are no comments on the service: the owner Kostas is an excellent manager and manages the hotel 100%. The staff is very polite, all smart and friendly. There is no animation, entertainment too, since the hotel is urban and does not have its own territory.
The village of Kallikratia is also very quiet: there are enough cafes, taverns, bars, but young people will be disappointed - there are no discos here. Nearby are Thessaloniki, Petralona Cave, you should definitely explore all of Kassandra and Sithonia. My husband was sent to Athos, he had long dreamed of getting to this incredible place, my daughter and I were waiting for him at the hotel, for all known reasons.
They were satisfied with the rest, upon arrival they told all friends and relatives that Greece is one of the best places on earth!
-- Rooms --
Lived in 2 rooms: with a sea view and with a city view. Both were great. The sea view rooms have a couple of drawbacks: the sun shines on the balcony during the day and it is quite hot to sit there; right in front of the hotel there is a road, not a highway, of course, but quite busy. The room overlooking the city was side, so the sea was also visible, but during the day there was a shadow, and we escaped from the heat on it. In general, there are 5 meters between the hotel building and neighboring houses, so you should not expect much privacy.
The rooms are new and generally good. Of the small minuses - a short curtain in the shower, the floor is splashed with water, but, however, it dries quickly.
The bathroom has shower gel, shampoo, towels. There are also disposable slippers in the room.
-- Nutrition --
A lot of fruits and vegetables, delicious fish and meat for dinner, fresh pastries. In general, the food is very diverse - for 2 weeks there were practically no repetitions at dinner.
A glass of orange juice for breakfast. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water - both for breakfast and dinner.
-- Beach --
Clean, there are sun loungers under umbrellas. You buy a drink - you use it all day. The sea is clean, there are small shells near the coast, the rest of the beach is sandy. Beach towels can be borrowed from the reception.
One drawback - a lot of smokers. It would be nice to do at least some kind of separation of the beach, since people themselves do not understand that cigarette smoke is disgusting for non-smokers.
-- Hotel area --
There is no hostel area. In the hotel itself, in addition to the rooms, there is a restaurant with an open veranda, a gym (quite good, however, it is not very convenient to work out more than 2-3 people, because there is a simulator from the 10 series in one), a pool, a sauna. You can go to the roof of the hotel.
-- Service --
Everything is great. Polite and cheerful waiters at the bar and in the restaurant, friendly reception staff.
When it was necessary to leave a little early for an excursion, they let us have breakfast without question, everything was already covered by our arrival (we went from the tour operator Mouzenidis Travel, perhaps this is their merit). If they did not have time for breakfast at all, they gave lunch boxes. Cleaning, change of towels every day, no problems.
In general, the hotel was very pleasant, we strongly recommend it!
My name is Alexander. A week ago I went to Greece on business, plus I had a little rest at the sea, "combined business with pleasure. " I stayed at the Aegean Blue Hotel, located in Nea Kallikratia, not far from Thessaloniki, which is very convenient. I will say from my own experience that the hotel represents a good four of the European level. City-type hotel, small, has no territory, but it is new and stylish in design.
The beach is small, clean, located across the road, sun loungers and umbrellas are provided for a drink.
The food is excellent: several types of hot dishes, salads, a wide selection of desserts, fruit is always available.
WI-FI is a good signal, the speed is decent, which was important for me, since I came not only to relax, but also to work.
Quality and professional service.
In the evening you can walk around the city.
Although the town is small, there are a lot of shops, taverns, restaurants in the center - a great choice where you can spend a pleasant evening.
In general, I went to work successfully and had a good rest. Thanks to Aegean Blue Hotel and Mouzenidis Travel for a well organized trip.
The hotel is in the 1st line and the beach across the road, very convenient. The beach is very clean and the sea too. In early September it was very warm +32 during the day and water +27. Almost always sunny, Halkidiki has 300 sunny days a year! There are trestle beds, umbrellas, tables on the beach, it's all free, provided that you order something from the bar (for 3 euros per person): coffee, tea, juices, fresh juice, beer, wine, ice cream, salad. When ordering, they always bring a bottle of water (0.5) for free. You can also lie on your bed. We had such, but we never switched to them - you get used to good things quickly. =)
More about the hotel. The rooms are new, clean and modern. There is a refrigerator, safe, plasma, satellite TV (2 Russian channels, a balcony with chairs and a table. Take it with a view of the sea and, in combination, the mountains, including Olympus (the best rooms, but the difference is not big). But keep in mind that the mountains usually seen in spring and autumn, in summer they are in a blue haze.
Upon arrival, you are greeted with joyful and sincere smiles, everyone will show, tell, help, at least put it to your soul! ) The staff is really the most friendly and polite of all. Many understand Russian, no one will have problems. Everyone knows English. We were also treated to wine and nuts on the first evening at the expense of the hotel.
There is a swimming pool inside, but no one swam there. Who needs it if the clear azure Aegean Sea is across the road.
Bed linen is changed every other day, towels are changed every day, and shower gel and shampoo are replenished every day, so you can not take your own. Like towels for the beach, they are issued at the reception and every 2 days you change them for clean ones.
Breakfast is buffet style, but good, with a variety of dishes. Everything is delicious, they love salinity, and puff pastry, cheeses, cold cuts, egg dishes. Delicious Greek yogurt, lots of fruits, nuts, pastries. in short, there is everything for everyone, even a large selection of jams. It’s better not to take coffee from the machine (disgusting, I don’t like that) but order from the waiters, they bring you delicious fragrant brewed coffee and it’s free. Also, every morning they bring a delicious freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast! (I still can't forget them! )
Dinners said that they were also delicious, but we went to eat in taverns. There are a lot of them nearby. I advise the nearest tavern from the hotel, which is located on the shore, a tavern 2 minutes away (I don’t remember the name, in blue tones, there was a pirate inside). And along the same line, almost at the very end, there is also a tavern in a marine theme and blue. These places are the best! The portions are large, we always overeat. Dinner for two, which usually included salad, seafood or meat, wine or juice, cost about 20 Euros. Everything is very tasty, and at the end you will be offered a dessert - a present from the institution, it is free.
In general, everything in Greece is delicious, and you will never leave hungry. Almost all their food floats in very tasty olive oil. ) Be sure to try their seafood, lamb, moussaka and young Greek wine. And also buy sweets, honey and olive oil, which are almost never exported abroad.
You can also go to fast food restaurants, there are a lot of them on the central street, they are cheaper there, but somehow we were not attracted. I wanted something purely Greek)
There is a cheap shop right next to the hotel (we first went to the supermarket, because according to reviews we read that there are the cheapest prices, but in this shop there is even more choice, and some prices are lower).
The location is very convenient, close to Thessaloniki. You can easily get there by bus (the bus station is 7 minutes from the hotel. It’s better to do shopping there, it’s more expensive in Kalikratia. It’s better to go to buy fur coats in Kastoria. If you can take a car, take it and go yourself, it will cost you less. With a tour - there they still take it on their paw, it will be more expensive, and through a fur coat it’s generally triply expensive.
On the fingers, it is also better to travel by car, but you can also get there by bus, but usually with transfers. This is how we went to Cassandra.
We took two excursions: 1. thermal springs in Aridea and a waterfall in Edessa 2. Meteora. I liked both, the second is a must to visit! Excursions were conducted by Ambodis and everything was excellent, very interesting and informative.
If you plan to leave early for an excursion, notify the reception and at the right time breakfast will be waiting for you downstairs, not as rich as usual, but this is enough!
Call your guide from the reception too, this will not be included in your bill.
I don't even know what else to say. The hotel is excellent, nothing to complain about, the service is excellent! Well, Greece will make you fall in love with itself, it is not like any other country. And every Greek loves her and suits her, and there is a reason for that. This is a country with a soul. ) And you cannot remain indifferent to it.
The staff is unobtrusive, very pleasant.
We only had breakfast, but what! Their cook is a wizard! The menu is varied, from fruits, watermelons, apples, peaches, pears, and so always. Baking sweet and salty, a variety of cheeses. Freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. You can’t list everything... No one will remain hungry. We ordered dinner once, everything is also on top!
The beach is nearby, clean, the sea is magnificent, sunbeds seem to be free, but if you make an order for 3 euros.
Not a supporter of returning to places where I have already rested, but I will definitely return here.
Thank you for a well organized home. To the owner of the hotel, Kostas, special greetings from Moscow.
Nea Kalikratia, a small seaside town, just 25 km from Thessaloniki Airport. The hotel stands on the seashore, commissioned only in June 2010. The stardom will be 4 *, but the first year they always give less, then they increase it. Between the hotel and the sea there is a small road with light one-way traffic. The beach is wide by local standards, umbrellas and sunbeds are free with the purchase of a drink on the beach. You can take a bottle of mineral water and lie on a sunbed all day, we didn’t take it, because the beach is sandy, even, it’s convenient to lie on a towel or bedspread.
Let's go back to the hotel.
The interior is in a calm high-tech style, wood-tile-metal, there are no dusty carpets and smelly plastic, even chairs on the balconies are wooden wicker. Three floors with two Otis elevators. The rooms are spacious, most with sea views, a few side rooms look directly at the neighboring house, probably not very convenient there, I don’t know. The room has a free air conditioner (in most Greek "three rubles" for it an additional charge of 7e / day), a free safe with an electronic lock (again, more often it is paid), a refrigerator, a TV - an LCD panel with two hundred channels (many Russian programs), in the shower - slippers and shower caps, soap, shampoo, hair dryer, a window from the shower to the room with blinds, very original. Towels are changed every other day, bedding once a week. The hotel has a swimming pool under the roof, no one went to the sea is better.
Internet. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel and even on the beach.
I was told about this on the pages of "Turpravda" by a Ukrainian friend of Vojager, who had visited this hotel a month earlier, and we were already traveling with a laptop. In the morning and in the evening the Internet is slow, dull, it is inconvenient to talk on Skype, but it is normal to use mail. In the evening and in the siesta, when the Greeks are sleeping, the Internet is good. We take the code at the reception, which contains the username and password, enter it into the computer - and go ahead. After 2 hours it will turn off, we take a new code - and another 2 hours. Then we got used to it and took several codes at once for the whole day, still for free.
Nutrition. Breakfast is the usual - scrambled eggs - pasta / pasta with cheese - bacon - cheese - ham - feta - olives - croissants - yogurts - peaches - tea - coffee - juice - milk. Hearty and tasty. We did not take dinner, but those who did responded well. We dined in the seaside taverns and restaurants of Kalikratia. Again, on the advice of friends from Turpravda, we found a wonderful Italian restaurant Mambo, offering different types of pasta and pizza and huge salads.
For two with wine 20.25 euros, you need to take one salad and two hot ones, or one pizza of 6 slices and 2 salads. Wine in all restaurants is 3 euros per half liter, it is dry, we did not take another. Mambo is located on the main square of Kalikratia, the name can be seen from everywhere. Two more good, already fish restaurants - on the embankment from the main square in the direction opposite to the hotel, 50-60 meters. One has stylized swans at the entrance, and a pirate (doll) sits at the next one. Delicious Greek fish and seafood dishes - octopus, cuttlefish, squid. There you can also order a pork chop on the coals, tasty treats. Well, at the hotel itself, if you walk from it along the embankment towards the pier, there is a good Romios tavern, classic Greek dishes. We did not eat fast food, but it is there, and inexpensive.
Shopping. There are many fur coat shops in Kalikratia, all sellers speak Russian. You can go to Kastoria for a fur coat, but usually in Kalikratia you can buy even cheaper and better, and here's why.
When traveling on a fur coat tour to Kastoria, it is immediately clear that the guide or group leader is at the same time with the sellers and owners of the salons, and this is not particularly hidden. There is not much time to choose and bargain, and sellers do not particularly discount prices. In Kalikratia, on the contrary, you can wander through these salons every evening, choosing and bargaining without fuss: if you didn’t bargain today, I’ll come tomorrow, or I’ll go to another salon. All our neighbors bought what they wanted, we were no exception.
In grocery stores, delicious Turkish delight, various halva and Greek honey in tins. Alcohol - anise vodka "Uzo" (smells like medicine, pectussin) and cognac "Metaxa", very decent. On the outskirts of each town there are shops of the German Lidl chain with inexpensive products.
Animation. Absent as such in principle. This pleases lovers of a relaxing holiday, no one bothers.
Young people in Kalikratia will be bored, there is no entertainment, only under the windows of the hotel of a dubious reputation, the "Freedom" tavern with some strange dumb half-naked visitors, it is noisy from Friday to Sunday, the Greeks light it up. The Greeks also have a special chic to ride in a car with open windows and a giant subwoofer turned on at full power with Greek rap. And if a Greek sees a friend from the car, he will beep loudly. Europeans with oriental temperament.
Car rental. If you get tired of lying on the beach and walking around fur salons, take a car and go. We took a Matiz with automatic transmission and air conditioning for 4 days at 45 e / day. A stylish girl from Mouzenidis drove a car from Thessaloniki directly to the hotel. It’s even easier to return: on the 4th day, late in the evening, I threw the key to the car at the reception, in the morning I looked from the balcony - there was no car, the girl drove it to someone next.
We traveled around the "fingers" of the Chalkidiki peninsula, experienced delight from the cliffs in the transparent bays of Kassandra and from the endless snow-white beaches of Sithonia. It's easy to drive, you just need to take a navigator from home, draws and speaks well. It is difficult to follow road signs, local gopniks draw their "graffiti" on them, all signs and even signs are painted. The roads are narrow, but smooth, without potholes. On the road we took milk (1e/liter) and delicious Greek pastries.
There are many beautiful monasteries and churches on the peninsula of Chalkidiki, they are freely allowed everywhere, only in the siesta - from 14 to 18 hours - you can’t get anywhere, all Greeks sleep, a national custom.
By the end of September, the weather became similar to autumn: during the day it is still very warm, but in the evening you need to wear a jacket.
In Kalikratia, everyone also praised the Aqua Mare hotel very much, it is generally 2 *, but everyone speaks of it very, very well.
We liked Kalikratia.
It is a good relaxing holiday for older people and for families with small children.
The rooms are clean, stylish (I liked the fact that they didn’t save on the interior - there is nothing made of plastic, even the armchair on the balcony is wicker) in the room there is a refrigerator, a TV (many channels, there are even in Russian, but we didn’t watch for obvious reasons), bathrooms - shine. Cleaning and change of linen - as expected.
I have a creative profession and, in general, I never stop working, even on vacation (when work is a joy, it’s not difficult). In fact, it was for this reason that it was extremely important for me that the hotel had Internet, namely WiFi. I thought that I was the only one so "crazy" - on vacation with a laptop, but no... There were a lot of people with beeches, telephones and other devices for accessing the Internet. Absolutely nothing surprising: after all, free WiFi was throughout the hotel, even on the beach.
Food. Breakfast - the most standard (scrambled eggs, pasta, all sorts of cheeses, sausages, dairy products, etc. ) We did not take dinner - we did not want to become attached to the hotel. But we talked with those who ate at the hotel, they say it was delicious. We ourselves ate mainly in the seaside restaurants and taverns of Kalikratia. Have chosen in the same place one Italian restaurant Mambo. Prices in all the places we have been are affordable, on average 25-30 euros for two. There is also fast food, and generally for ridiculous money - we sometimes had a bite to eat on the go.
I can’t say that the hotel is full of evening entertainment, noisy discos and nightclubs, but where to spend time. Not far from the hotel there is an institution (I don’t know how to call it more precisely, whether it’s a club, roofing felts, after all, a bar), called "Freedom". Well, of course, it cannot be compared with the metropolitan clubs that we are used to, but we had a lot of fun there. Bar prices are also good.
We took 2 cars because we wanted to see some sights on our own - Halkidiki is famous for its monasteries and churches. In general, they were satisfied with the trips.
In general, we strove for a quiet holiday, beach pleasures and detachment from the rhythm of the metropolis. We got exactly that. Aegean Blue Hotel is a great place for a family vacation. Calm, but not boring - the golden mean between serene solitude and the frantic rhythm of other resorts.
