Greece has it all - Metsovo
We stopped at Metsovo on our way to Saint Meteora. Excursions in the direct sense of the word was not. Our leader briefly told us that we should look here, where souvenir shops and a public toilet are, and let us go free swimming for one hour.
The village is interesting, purely touristic. Small hotels, local history museum with paintings.
From the height of the observation deck there are beautiful views of the mountains. There is a huge tree on the main square and not far from it are two bronze figures of a she-bear with a cub. Favorite place for tourists and children. Traditionally, they rubbed the ears of the bears.
In a local shop, a colorful Greek sells smoked goat cheese. Allows you to taste your product before buying. Tried it - didn't like it. The taste is very specific, and the smell is the same.
On the same square, a colorful Greek in national costume walks around. I asked permission to take a picture with him. He happily posed. Didn't ask for money. After me, everyone also started taking pictures with him. So our hour flew by. It's time to go further to Meteora.
Around Metsovo mountains covered in snow. I remember the road to Metsovo and after it. Mountain serpentines with sharp turns. At the pass we stopped and took a photo for memory. And then a surprise: further the road is covered with snow and there is no passage. After consulting among themselves, our drivers turn somewhere to the side, and as a result, we got lost in the mountains. But the Greeks are kind people, and after about an hour of our wanderings, we saw a local resident in a car who brought our bus to a normal road. We are saved, and we are going to Holy Meteora.
