All this cost us about 20% cheaper than the agents offered for the same dates (08-20.09. 2018). We can say that we did a good job with the task, the only "blunder" was the choice of a hotel in Tbilisi: we bought it for 3 *, rating and laudatory reviews and booked a budget family room for two with my daughter from 14 to 20.09. 18 in Hotel Piano 3*, address 4 Kirim Street, 0101 Tbilisi City, Georgia.
In fact, it turned out that there were no “stars” there, but “excellent location”, “daily housekeeping”, “kitchenware”, “amazing breakfast”, declared by Piano on booking. com was nothing more than a lure designed for the gullible like us, and there we were in for a whole host of unpleasant surprises:
one.
Hotel Piano 3* is a 3-level diverse building in the private sector, adapted to a GUEST HOUSE. Of the total number of rooms (10 rooms), there are no two identical or equivalent.
2. The “hotel” is located very inconveniently, it is not easy to find it so much that the driver who brought us from Batumi and knows Tbilisi well, after a long circling through the alleys on the navigator, had to call Piano and ask how to find it. I’ll run a little ahead: from the hotel to Meydan Square (the place where excursion groups gather) is 10-15 minutes by car, if there are no traffic jams; there was no public transport nearby, and therefore we had to use the services of Yandex-taxi, on average, 1 trip cost us 4.58 GEL (GEL). And taxi drivers strayed more than once, looking for the Hotel Piano - navigators did not help.
In addition, judging by the reviews of former guests, the hotel is located near the railway station, in the building of which the GOLD MARKET is located, where, among other jewelry, handmade silver items with cloisonné enamel by Georgian craftsmen are sold. So, when we asked the administrator how to get to the station, she recommended that we take a taxi, because it would be difficult on foot. My "conspiracy" assumptions: either the way to the station on foot is actually not easy due to the intricacies of the alleys, or the girl simply does not have enough vocabulary to really explain in Russian how to get to the station, or there is an agreement between the hotel and the taxi service.
3. Next, a "surprise" upon check-in: the administrator said that the room we booked was occupied. Settled in a cheaper "discounted" 50GEL for 6 nights. As it turned out later, we were deceived for 70 GEL ($ 27) - already at home I saw on booking.
com that the difference in price per night for these rooms when occupied by 2 people is 20 GEL, respectively, for 6 nights - 120 GEL.
4. The next "surprise": the administrator insisted that we pay for the stay in cash, and not with a VISA card, although this form of payment is indicated in the booking confirmation - they, you see, have some difficulties with cashing out. When the administrators realized that they would wait for cash from us, then only after 3 days, because 3 days in a row (15-17.09. 2018) we will leave for 10-12-hour excursions outside of Tbilisi, payment from cards were accepted on the evening of 15.09. 18, however, out of the declared amount, they asked 70 GEL to pay in cash, without issuing any document - just the amount that they deceived.
5.3-bed room 6, in which we were settled, turned out to be an uncomfortable room with windows on both sides of the glazed front door, and even during the day it is twilight. There are only 2 hangers in the wardrobe, one is homemade from wire.
The room has a kitchenette with a fridge and a kettle, no cutlery, no crockery, not even glasses. Simply pressing the remote control button to turn on the TV is not enough, it turns on with problems, probably through the set-top box, but no one bothered to explain how to turn it on even after contacting the administrator; for us, TV has become a useless piece of furniture. There is a telephone that “lives” on a chair, while it would be better to attach it to the wall, at least for the sake of safety, but this is probably not necessary for anyone. In dignity. the node constantly stinks of sewerage, the fan did not save - the most lethal surprise. The smell entered the room every time the door was opened, and it was impossible to ventilate the room due to the location of the windows. I had to keep the windows open all 5 days / 6 nights (fortunately, bars were installed on them) and turn on the air conditioner at night. The air conditioning is noisy and made it difficult to sleep at night. There were no blankets.
A shower cabin without a door, when you take a shower, the water naturally pours onto the floor outside of it.
6. When checking in, there was not one bath towel, we managed with our beach towels. They took out the garbage and changed the towels once in 5 days on the eve of our departure and only after contacting the administrator. It looks like there are no full-time maids at Piano.
7. Another “surprise” was the “amazing” breakfasts (08.30-12.00), included in the price of accommodation - breakfasts turned out to be complex at the discretion of the "accommodation" and food contraindications and preferences of guests are not taken into account - eat what they give.
Every day they were "treated" with boiled sausage, once there was scrambled eggs, 2-3 times mayonnaise salads - one similar to Olivier, the other from chicken meat with red sweet pepper; there were also fried triangles (I don’t know the names, but I wasn’t in the mood to ask) from dough similar to puff, stuffed with beans, then cheese or cottage cheese, sometimes slices of cucumber or tomato, 2-3 times cheese, a couple of times they gave a tablespoon of cottage cheese , cookies "Baked milk" or "Jubilee". They asked about oatmeal - the answer is no. Ordinary milk for coffee turned out to be a problem - they mostly added “condensed milk”, and once there was none; bought themselves and defiantly brought for breakfast.
8. When leaving the Piano, they partially complained to the administrator and in response they heard baby talk like “You didn’t say anything! » So that's it - it turns out that in this "hotel" to get the service declared by him on booking.
com, it's not enough to pay for it, you still have to make an effort to "knock out" everything you need from the administrator! Nonsense!
The administrators were nice, smiling and accommodating, they all tried to treat us with homemade wine, but the impression of the "hotel" from the very beginning was completely and irrevocably spoiled. When we realized that we were also deceived, this was the last straw and the daughter was on booking. com wrote a review about Piano with a listing of the “cons” of all of the above, but without details, and here is the answer of the “hotel” with the spelling and punctuation of the author verbatim:
"we have a super view of the city) it's good that there are no whims for this) let's say it's hard to find a hotel) but we found our hotel with such a view from the terrace, we were still dissatisfied. despite the fact that there is no such problem that you have) so yourself We agreed on this topic and asked for a discount from us!!!
and no one deceived you about the room, looking at the discount they asked for Horoshchenko)) if you didn’t like it, why did you stay, why did you agree??? ? sorry, but this hotel is not a house so that everything was there) 2 things, too, the two of you were so calculated) every day our administration asked from you if there was any problem, tell us to cut it, and you tell us, yes, everything is super) the TV is all turned on and only you problem? air conditioning is the first time anyone says that it works noisy)) every day we told you if you want cleaning! turn on the air conditioner yourself and then say no blanket, do you think that you are saying that you got a squeak? our breakfasts are super and there when they ate they didn’t say so everything is ok everything is super)! milk are you making milk a problem? people how to say THANKS TO YOU FOR COFFEE FOR TEA FOR HELP IN TBILISI FOR WINE AND MOST MORNING BREAKFAST AT 6 7 MORNING AND THIS OUR ADMINISTRATORS DID NOT SAY NO FOR YOU! this is your blog thanks! "
As for duvets, in all NORMAL (keyword) hotels they are included in the list of bedding and should be present in the room by default regardless of the season, but apparently this "accommodation" does not even know about it.
4. Of course, "the hotel is not a house so that everything is there", then you do not need to indicate "kitchenware" in the description of the rooms, and in a 3-bed room there should be at least three hangers, and normal ones, and not from wire , which bends under the weight of clothing.
5. Calling a taxi is the only help for us in Piano (and in Tbilisi), there was no other need.
6. About wine, tea and coffee - also a lie: we always refused wine, because we returned late from excursions, no one treated us to tea or coffee separately from breakfast, we drank in the room brought with us from our own dishes.
7. It must be so presumptuous to assert that "the breakfasts we have / have / are super"!
Where does such confidence come from that their breakfasts are suitable and should be enjoyed by absolutely everyone, without exception? ! We were forced to eat what was served - there was no choice - and politely thanked for breakfast, but we certainly didn’t say that “everything is ok, everything is super)”. Sausage and cookies remained on our plates, the daughter refused salads, but they never offered anything in return, and breakfasts were paid for.
8. About breakfast for us at 06.00-07.00 - another blatant lie: we only once came to breakfast early, at 08.15, because by 09.00 we had to catch an excursion, and the administrator was warned about this in the evening, so he had to wake up - the boy rested sweetly on the couch.
We are non-confrontational people and with questions about the layout of the "hotel", about food and turning on TV, with a request to take out the garbage from the room, we hinted to the administrators at our bewilderment and their shortcomings, but, apparently, too subtly - it was necessary to make a scandal to get it.
I believe that the “minuses” in Piano were not seen either by guests who tasted homemade wine to a deep “anesthesia”, or those who, unlike us, have nothing to compare with - we lived in Batumi (08-14.09. 2018) in a beautiful The 3-star Hotel Tsereteli Palace (there is my review about it here) and there we were not given a single reason to “be capricious”.
Upon returning home, I read on one site that in Georgia there are no legal criteria for assigning stars to "accommodation facilities" for tourists, and each "hotelier" decides this issue at his own discretion, while not common sense plays a decisive role, but, more often everything, ambition. As the guide told us on one of the excursions, there are a huge number of "hotels" like Piano in Tbilisi and everyone is trying to "grab" a piece from the tourist "pie", but the trouble is - the guys do not understand that the "stars" above the entrance to the hotel oblige provide guests with the appropriate service.
So, if you are going to Tbilisi, choose a hotel with caution, "not all that glitters is gold" - I'm talking about "stars", ratings and reviews of former guests.
Thanks to everyone who read my "lament of Yaroslavna" to the end. : -) I hope it will be useful to someone.. .
