the organizers were engaged in the choice of the hotel - the motivation was simple - the hotel has its own beach. True, in May it was not particularly needed.
in order.
what is Batumi, and there more than Kobuleti, I had no idea. I know what Tbilisi is. but Adjara is a completely different Georgia. Before the flight, the Eagle and Tails program was viewed. one host just lived in this hotel, and the second host wandered around Batumi - a lot of useful information for those who are traveling for the first time - look, you won't regret it.
The flight was operated by Georgian Airlines. I was lucky - I and two of my friends were put in business class. Sometimes it's good to be late for check-in. I expected that Georgian wine would be offered on board, but alas, only Borjomi
Batumi airport is small. from the plane to the building were on foot. passport control passed quickly - Ukrainians do not need a visa and do not need to fill out questionnaires. only a passport. right behind the control stood a boy and a girl in national costumes and treated them to baklava. baggage was delivered quickly. Adjarian air is clean and beautiful. it was so unusual to stand in sandals and a sundress and see near the mountains on which there is snow. it was cool, the first thought - you could not take a swimsuit.
transfer to the hotel took 30-40 minutes. throughout this time, the guide talked about Batumi, Kobuleti and Georgia in general. Answered questions quickly and to the point. Batumi impressed instantly. mostly architecture and cleanliness. while still sitting on the bus, I was already impatient to walk around this city.
hotel. as we were told back in Kyiv, he is the best in the resort. very presentable and beautiful in appearance. Check in was fast even though there were a lot of us. upon check-in, a deposit of 100 lari (60 USD) is required, which is not actually warned. many of our group took with them only credit cards and change for tips and souvenirs. Like writing down credit card details. I didn't get into it. the exchanger works for a couple of hours a day. morning and evening. course is normal.
territory. she is small but cute. for the first time in my life I saw white-painted pine trunks. smiled. SPA center, indoor pool are located in a separate building. the outdoor pool is small (in our time, at most 5 people swam in it because it was cold). there is a bar near the pool. in the hotel building itself there is a lobby bar, not very large - 4 tables with sofas, wi-fi catches normally only near the lobby and reception. near the pool and in the restaurant practically does not catch. the hotel restaurant will also not be able to receive all guests at a time, provided that the hotel is completely filled.
room. everything here is contradictory. the bathroom is perfect. everything is clean, new plumbing, bathroom accessories are present. towels changed daily. the furniture was a little disappointing, old, the cabinet doors where the TV stood did not close normally. there is space for only one suitcase near the front door. no blankets. there is a blanket. prickly and with a not very pleasant smell, the linen is damp. slippers like everywhere else, but the bathrobes are washed, washed and even torn. belt loops were torn on both robes. one was torn under the armpits. the balcony is nice. table, two chairs and an ashtray. central air conditioning. mine didn't work for heating. We went to the reception several times, my uncle came - he twisted something, there was no effect. from the third time it seemed to be fixed - cold air began to blow (they asked just the opposite hot).
The heating in the hotel was already turned off. and since the street was also not Africa, the rooms were cold. mine had a balcony overlooking the pool with a side sea view. and therefore the sun has never been on it. damp and bitterly cold. in the hotel they shrugged their hands saying that we can’t do anything. so most of the guests, including me, demanded extra blankets. It was cold everywhere in the hotel. only on the third day after the collective complaints and general fermentation around the hotel in blankets, the hotel administration still turned on the heating. I was already crying with happiness when I returned from the tour, and the room was hot.
restaurant. breakfast is European. everything is there, except for fruits. there was a fruit salad poured with some kind of syrup, but it was not enough and it was strange. cooked omelettes, pancakes. there were pastries, cheeses, cereals, porridge, tea, coffee. everyone sat at breakfast for an hour and a half, as there was nothing more to do - the sun had not yet come out to the pool and it was cold there.
pool and beach. it was cold. almost no one swam. around the pool are sun loungers, soft mattresses and towels. music is playing, there is a bar. indoor pool where the heat also has all of the above + sauna. the beach is disappointing. his view is worse than that of the Crimean sanatoriums. wooden walkway, plastic sunbeds. There were no mattresses, but as many as 3 people give out towels. entry into the sea pebbles. On the beach, however, there is some special sand, useful. but in May it was cold to lie by the sea. There is a promenade, we walked along it to restaurants.
service in general. he is not. they will certainly listen to you and even try to help if they know how. blankets for example will give. at breakfast they will ask "tea or coffee" but will not specify tea - green or black and coffee with or without milk.
tourism they have just begun to develop, so I think that in a couple of years everything will be perfect there. I didn't want to yell at them when they were stupid. they are all so sincere and good-natured that I had to count in my mind to 10 and repeat the request.
compromise is quick. for example. you can't smoke in the lobby bar - there is a street where it's cold. a European type hotel and the rules are appropriate (this is despite the fact that in Georgia they smoke everywhere). also in the lobby you can not drink your drinks, the price tags in the bar, God forbid. in total - a couple of evenings we all went together to hang out in Batumi, after which the hotel manager came at breakfast and made an announcement that from now on you can smoke in the lobby. they even began to turn a blind eye to drinking their drinks (if not impudent)
food. do not look for Georgian cuisine in the hotel. who wants what, of course. but I didn't come to Georgia to eat pasta and ravioli. I wanted khachapuri, kebabs, manti, cheeses, etc. Therefore, in the hotel, except for breakfast, no one took anything. the hotel on the roof was not working yet because it was cold (according to rumors, it was supposed to be with the Adzharian smithy). There is a coffee shop across the street from the hotel. very tasty food and ridiculous prices. You can also buy a lot of Ukrainian products - bagels, straws, chips and cookies. smiled. There are a couple of restaurants in Kobuleti. The prices are the same as in the grocery store. delicious. yes, often the place itself is not attractive and the tablecloths are dirty and the dishes are so Soviet and the dishes look far from being edible, but they taste... Georgian cuisine is one of the best in the world (IMHO). From what you must try - Adjarian khachapuri (precisely Adjarian, since there are a lot of types of them), fried suluguni, red mullet fish soup, kebab and shish kebab.
Georgian strawberries are also something, since we were in May, there was nothing special about fruits. I wanted to eat strawberries and cherries, but there were not enough cherries. once bought a kg of strawberries in Batumi. while riding in a minibus in Kobuleti took a little thing to try. 10 minutes later she was gone.
a separate topic - Georgian wine. this is my personal paradise. Kindzmarauli and Khvanchkara are my favorites. a lot of wine. for every taste and color. On one of the excursions we stopped by for a tasting. then for about an hour they still departed, as half were afraid to get on the bus, the roads were mountain serpentines, swaying. sat on the steps of the winery. it was fun. there we met the football player Andriy Shevchenko. he was not very happy with us, and especially with the presence of journalists and the operator M1.
in general, if you doubt whether it is worth going to Georgia, it is definitely worth it. I especially want to say to the people of Russia - do not believe what they show on television about Georgia. it's magical there. Georgians are very hospitable and welcome everyone.
I will write the second part of the review purely about Batumi, excursions and people. because besides Kobuleti they also lived there.
Finally, about the hotel. I can recommend it to families with children and those who yearn for solitude. young people will be bored, and every day to go to Batumi is a waste of time and money, it’s easier to choose a hotel there right away. in Kobuleti itself it is boring and there is nothing to do.
