In total we stayed at Southwark Rose 4 times in 2011-2012. During this time, the hotel changed its name and lost one "star".
The hotel belongs to the Accor Hotels chain, and used to be part of their All Seasons line.
With the brand change, the price increased, breakfasts deteriorated, the restaurant moved from the last floor to the first, otherwise everything remained at a normal level.
A little bit about food - this is a classic version of a continental breakfast, and no frills - tea / coffee, buns, jam, yogurt, cheese, ham, cereal. No milk, muesli, fruits, eggs. If the cost of a room with breakfast differs from the cost without them by at least 10 pounds, I advise you to take it without breakfast. The restaurant is small, when the hotel is fully loaded, you can end up in line and wait 15-30 minutes for a free table. There is also a bar counter, which is open in the morning, you can order normal coffee for money.

Rooms are medium in size, clean and have everything you need - tea/coffee making facilities, ironing facilities, TV, telephone.
Central air conditioning, windows open, free Wi-Fi. The soundproofing of the rooms is good.
The bathroom is of a normal size, the shower is spacious, everything is clean and new.
In the lobby of the hotel there is a computer with Internet access, the use is free. It was convenient to check in for the flight before departure, the boarding passes were printed at the reception without questions. The staff is attentive and friendly, they respond adequately to any request and try to help.
Right there in the hall there are chairs and tables and a free cooler with boiling water, tea, coffee for those who wish.
The hotel is very pleasant, in a quiet and peaceful place, it pulls back here: )
Location. This is South Shore, Southwark. For some reason, tourists do not particularly consider its hotels when planning trips, it may seem that it is far from the center.
I thought so myself the first time, but it turned out to be quite the opposite!
In fact, this is a small area, from which bridges to the North Shore radiate in different directions. And these bridges: the London bridge leads to the City, the Millennium to the Cathedral of St. Paul, Blackfrairs - to the Temple, Waterloo - to Aldwych and Covent Garden, Westminstver - to Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
On the very South Bank from Westminster Bridge to London Bridge are located: London Eye Ferris Wheel, National Theatre, Tate Modern Gallery, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Borough Market, Golden Hind - a copy of Francis Drake's ship and Southwark Cathedral - a beautiful cathedral built in the 13th-15th centuries. If we move further from London Bridge, then we get straight to the Tower Bridge, along which you can go to the other side to the Tower. The wonderful hydrogen bus RV-1 runs right next to the hotel and takes you to the Tower and Covent Garden.
There are two stations nearby - London Bridge and Waterloo and the metro stations of the same name.

In general, having once settled by chance in this area, in the future we quite consciously chose hotels here. And now Shard has been completed - another "plus" : )
Here, on average, hotel prices are slightly lower than on the other side, that is, for the same cost you can get better conditions or under the same living conditions, accommodation here will be cheaper.
On the other hand, I advise you to consider hotels that are located along the Thames and along the streets within a few blocks from it, “deeper” areas begin not so pleasant ...
The Akkor chain regularly announces various promotions for accommodation in its hotels. Unfortunately, it is rare in London, but sometimes it happens, you need to track it.

Z. Y. Dear tourists! All British hotels have British sockets! No need to cut them open with scissors or hammer euro plugs in there!
Ask at the counter for an adapter, they have it, they will give it! : )
