We arrived early in the morning with a small child, the room was given at 14-00...
When leaving, they requested a late check-out, they gave about $ 50
If it were not for friends living nearby, this hotel would not be taken and we do not recommend it to anyone.
The hotel has a disco, everyone can attend the disco.
Internet in the lobby is free, works well.
Take a taxi to Burj Khalifa for 30 AED.
There is fungus on the walls in the bathroom.
The UAE is usually impressed by economic development. Comparing with Egypt at a high level of service, prices are clearly high. But I like the climate and the sea in Egypt more.
The Carlton Tower Hotel is conveniently located 2 minutes' walk from the hotel. to Baniyas Square Metro (former Nasser Square). Here you can buy equipment and fur coats.
Went to Dubai Outlet for the city, taxi $ 30. on the one hand, a little bought from clothes.
Service at the hotel is excellent, everything was done on demand. Good breakfasts and hearty dinners, especially the fish (I don’t know which one) in batter with sweet and sour sauce was very tasty.
From the hotel every day there is a free shuttle to the beach, or Jumeirah or Al Mamzar. I think Jumeirah is better.
The rooms were cleaned every day, there are no complaints about cleaning.
From excursions, I advise you to go to the new water park on the palm island, jeep safaris, night crab hunting. On Friday for the whole day (since nothing works on this day), you can go on an excursion to the Indian Ocean.
In a crowded place of tourists (usually a beach), agents of various travel agencies (our former compatriots) hand out colored brochures with excursions. The same is offered. Prices and buses offered by class and comfort may vary slightly. All of them are licensed and operate legally. Warnings that third-party services cannot be used are not true. The laws there are strict and no one works without a license. Therefore, we gave up on Royal Park and used the services of their competitors. Everything was OK.
Exchangers are available at every step and the course is the same everywhere. There is no deception. Do not waste time looking for a "favorable rate" like ours. It's just not there.
And now about the Carlton Tower Hotel 4*. The hotel was built in the 70s and was renovated in 2001. It does not pull on 4 stars, but we practically only spent the night in it. In the morning we were taken by a hotel bus to the paid beach of Al Mamzar Beach. Or Jumeirah Beach. They brought us in for lunch. After lunch excursions or shopping.
Liked the service staff. Always smiling and ready to fulfill your request immediately. They treat their customers like they are long-term acquaintances who are very welcome. The rooms are clean. Cleaning is thorough. The kitchen is good. Swimming pool with a magnificent view of the bay (channel)
When we left home, Air Astana representatives gathered us all in one place to take us to Abu Dhabi airport. There, while waiting for departure, all the tourists shared their opinions about their hotels. Everyone was not happy. At the same time, most lived in 5-star hotels. Someone was not always given the prescribed water, someone was credited with the received water (paid in excess of the norm), someone was credited with a bill. The problem is that none of them tried to object in their hotel. Someone was shy. Someone thought that because of these little things you should not swear. Someone simply could not speak English (in my opinion the main reason).
In our hotel in the first days, the free water was not brought to the room. We made a remark at the Reception. The second time they didn’t bring it - they made the suggestion louder. Without shouting, but persistently. We have been respected. They began to bring two bottles instead of one put.
Adviсe:
1. Knowledge of the language is desirable.
2. The first days do not carry large sums with you. You risk spending everything at once. Be like. Look. On the third day, we bought everything that we planned, three times cheaper than we were offered in the first days. Bargain. Smile. Don't leave with an offended face. This is a show that everyone will enjoy. Feel free to cut the price in half. Slowly yielding to each other, you will come to the true price.
3. Cheaper than ours - fur coats, gold, photo-television equipment, mobile phones, clothes for adults (if you bargain). In large markets (malls) everything is expensive. Go to simple shops. There, except for fashion, everything is the same, but cheaper. Where there are price tags, there is no bargaining.
4. There are a lot of all kinds of eateries and restaurants around any hotels. Eat there. Much cheaper than hotels. Get food and drinks with water at grocery stores for a simple in-room snack. Don't go to restaurants every day.
5. There are semi-underground restaurants for "Russians" where there is beer and alcohol. Keep in mind that it's super expensive there. A mug of simple beer, which in our cafes in Astana costs 400-600 tenge (3-4 dollars), is three to four times more expensive there. Buy cigarettes and alcohol in advance at Duty Free.
The contingent in the hotel is mostly foreigners, Russians (in the sense of all Russian speakers), probably 15 percent. Go to the Greek restaurant in this hotel, they beat plates for good luck and then dance, according to the Greek custom. People from other hotels also came there, they say it's cool.
The hotel has a very convenient location, right next to Dubai Creek and Nasser Square, there are many shops, including branded ones (although there are some with fakes! , we saw it ourselves), as well as fur coats. As the guides advised, it is better to buy fur coats and equipment on Nasser Square.
It’s better to shop in terms of clothes in malls, they are huge there, we went into the store at 11 am and left at 10 pm without having time to get around everything. Most of all I liked the Mall of the Emirates, which is adjacent to the Ski Dubai ski resort, you can watch the Arabs frolicking in the snow (mostly they are there) through the glass wall. Lots of cafes. From the hotel to get 12 dollars.
There were often problems with a taxi, it is very difficult to catch on the street, there are huge queues for taxis at the exit of the malls. It is better not to travel with private traders, they charge unrealistic prices. Some other taxi drivers do not like to travel short distances (for example, from a hotel in Deira City Center), they should probably offer an overcharge on top of the meter.
We were during the shopping festival, there are big discounts everywhere. We read in advertisements that the Emirates Mall has discounts all year round in every second boutique. You can buy cool branded items.
We shopped in the malls of Deira City Center (cool, 5 minutes drive from the hotel, by taxi 3 dollars in terms of dirhams), Bar Juman (also good, 10 minutes), Lamsey Plaza (10 minutes, democratic, many cafes), Wafi (in pyramids, pretentious, there is a cool Marks and Spencer store, 10 minutes).
From the excursions we went to Abu Dhabi, on a jeep safari (it’s not at all scary, just bring warm clothes with you, you can jackets, it’s very cold in the desert in the evening) and to the water park. All liked it!
7 days was not enough! With our love of shopping and their amazing stores-)
