Initially, there was a plan to arrive by ferry from Santorini in the morning and see the small island of Folegandros and return in the evening by the same ferry to Santorini. The Kallisti Hotel in Folegandros was chosen by chance. Initially, there was a plan to arrive by ferry from Santorini in the morning and see the small island of Folegandros and return in the evening by the same ferry to Santorini.
Folegandros Island was so distinguished by its untouched beauty, we wanted to stay and decided to choose any available hotel for one day.
Kallisti Hotel is a very small hotel near the center of the very small town or village of Chora, Karavostasi port is 2.5 km away, there is a bus stop next to the hotel that takes you to the beaches of Folegandros and the port of Karavostasi. You can get to the nearest beach by bus or walk about 2 km. The island is small, you can get around everything on foot.
The pluses are that from the rooms there is a beautiful view of the sea from the cliff, the island itself and the main attraction of the island, the Church of the Virgin of Panagia.
The hotel looks like a normal large traditional Greek village house, built with local light stone and the rooms show wooden beams on the ceiling.
There are 14 rooms in total in the hotel. The rooms are small with double beds and small additional sofas, the bathroom in our room on the ground floor is a toilet bowl, a shower cabin and a washbasin, bath and cosmetic accessories are available. The rooms are very clean. There is a TV and air conditioning, but the air was pleasant and cool even in July in the evening, we just opened the balcony.
The hotel has a small pool, the hotel area is clean and beautiful, if you are too lazy to go to the beach, you can stay at the hotel under special sunshades with sofas and pillows. The only thing is that one wall that encloses the hotel pool is located on the only main road of the island, during the day there will be noise at the pool, but in the evening and at night when all the ferries with tourists return to their ports on other islands, there is silence
Breakfast at the hotel was very tasty with a choice of several types of tea, organic coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, homemade fresh yogurt made on the island, freshly baked local bread, jams and jams to choose from, fruits and vegetables and several cakes.
The location of the hotel on the island is ideal for exploring the main attractions of the island, a beautiful view from the hotel rooms, the hotel manager and a few hotel staff are very friendly and always ready to advise and help you choose the best tourist route on the island, the best places for photos, organize a transfer to the port and a boat transfer to the beaches that are only accessible from the sea and tell where you can eat on the island on a budget.
