Hotel Dischma Lugano Switzerland
1. Location
The hotel is located in Lugano Paradiso. We specially chose the hotel in this place, because it is very close to the pier and to the Monte San Salvatore funicular. The hotel is located in some side street, opposite the Holiday Inn, but everywhere there are signs to it, so we found it without any problems. It's not in the very center of the city, but Lugano is so small that it won't take long to walk along the lake to the center.
The hotel does not have its own car park, but you can park in a car park not far from the hotel. Pay at the reception and get a ticket (parking card). You arrive at the indicated parking lot, Autosilo (3-5 minutes walk to it), and then everything is as usual. To your left is an automatic machine, you press the button, you get a coupon, but you DO NOT NEED it, you can throw it away. When you leave the parking lot, insert the one that was given to you at the hotel into the machine. This seems to be a common practice of hotels that do not have their own parking lots.
2. Rooms and the hotel itself
We had a room on the 5th floor with a balcony from which the funicular trams were visible, and at night this entire path was brightly lit with lights. Booked the hotel on booking. com. com, the description is completely true.
There is not a large refrigerator in the room, we went to the reception, took the key to it there, put all the bottles on the table and put our products there. After all, we were driving from Nice, and we had some leftover food that should be stored in the refrigerator, so it was very useful here.
The rest of the room, everything is as usual, the Internet is free, it worked rather weakly. Despite the fact that the hotel is not new, but has 2 elevators, so going up to the upper floors is not a problem. We slept with an open balcony, there was almost no noise from the street.
3. Service
Very friendly and attentive to the guests, the owners and in general the entire staff. Hotel language: Italian and German.
4. Breakfast
Since we only had breakfast, I will describe it briefly. Your attention will be offered 3 buffets: Swiss, Italian, vegetarian and even Prosecco (sparkling wine). I will not list all the food, I will only say that it is very diverse and there is a lot of everything.
The hotel does not, of course, have a fitness center or a congress hall and everything else, since the hotel is not a luxury class, so it can be safely recommended to those who stay for a short time: 1-3 days.
Well, about the hotel, perhaps that's all.
Well, now a little about Lake Lugano.
In general, we really like the lakes of Italy, and Lake Lugano was no exception, because it has wonderful nature, and a mild Mediterranean climate, and the purest water of an unusual color, and there are many interesting places around that are worth visiting, and what ancient elegant villas, mountains, and my weakness is cable cars...and it’s impossible to list everything...(although we haven’t visited all of them yet, but in plans...in plans for the future. )
After checking into the hotel, there were many plans, but circumstances developed in such a way that we only walked around the city of Lugano in the late afternoon: along the lake, along the promenade, in the center, past shops and boutiques, which were all closed. Only a few restaurants were open. In this regard, I compared Lugano to Stresa, where everything is open until late at night, all the shops, all the restaurants, cafes ...and tourists all around.
Lugano seemed to us very sparsely populated, semi-desert, more calm.
In one of the cafes on the embankment, they sat down at a table to eat ice cream, coffee ...The seller turned out to be a compatriot, Russian-speaking, and took me in his own way instead of 16.00 francs - 16.00 euros. I did not immediately guess about it, because everywhere the euro, the euro ...did not immediately remember that we are in Switzerland, even if the difference is not big in money, but the very fact of deception! When I approached him and asked what it was?
He didn’t blink an eye, he made a mistake, he says, now I’ll calculate the difference (at the extortionate rate) and return it. No, I say, give me back my 16 euros, and here's 16.00 francs for you, anyway, I need to get rid of them, and try the check, I'll check again, maybe something's wrong again. Justice has been restored, you can go for a walk further.
Well, the journey is almost over. With a great load of vivid memories, we go home with the hope of a new meeting with this beautiful lake. There is no such thing as too much beauty!
