First you need to say what the island of Key West is. This is a pretty, southern provincial town, famous as a place chosen by American honeymooners, sexual minorities and just tourists who want to visit a quiet tropical paradise without going outside the United States. Wild chickens and rabbits roam the streets, the main Duval Street is teeming with cafes and strange clubs. The embankment is a place for romantic walks, performances by musicians and magicians and, of course, meeting a romantic sunset near the ocean. It is no coincidence that Hemingway chose this town and wrote his best books here. By the way, his house-museum is just a few hundred meters from the hotel.
We arrived at Key West with a group of three families in two rented cars.
It was the end point of our journey along the route Chicago - Niagara - New York - Philadelphia - Washington - Jacksonville - Orlando - Miami - Key West.
What could be more pleasant for a road trip - the southern sun, a mustang sports convertible and the most gorgeous views around. After all, the road from the "big land" to Key West goes from island to island. And it was laid with the help of many kilometers of bridges on piles. An amazing sight - the road through the ocean!
I liked the hotel at first sight. Patient and polite staff, small but cozy rooms with all the necessary equipment, cozy pools.
The location is very remarkable - it really is the southernmost hotel in the country - 50 meters from the famous buoy with the inscription "Southernmost point Continental USA". Two steps away is the ocean beach. True, during our vacation, Key West was just being cleared after Hurricane Isaac, the entire beach was littered with algae. But the vagaries of the weather do not depend on the hotel.
By the way, you can relax on the pool of the second hotel (which is on the beach) overlooking the ocean. If we talk about the courtesy and friendliness of the staff, then the case when we went with our 17-year-old son to the pool, where there was a sign "only for adults from 21 years old", was especially indicative. The polite hotel employees didn't kick us out of the pool, despite our attempts to brush them off with the words "ay don't andestend". They sincerely apologized to us for the inconvenience caused, escorted us to the pool by the ocean (and we didn’t even know about it! ), brought us there individual brand new soft mattresses on sun loungers (these were only on the “adult” pool), gave us clean towels for the whole company and handed over a free cocktail ...But at that time we were already discharged from the room! But, despite this, we were allowed to use the infrastructure of the hotels for the whole day without any additional payment! ! !
This is what I understand - to try my best so that the guests have only positive memories.
In general, the hotel gave us a lot of pleasant moments and definitely worth the money. We remember the days spent here with strong nostalgia.
