My wife and I stayed at the two-star Hotel Berger (Hotel Berger, Tiberius) for 7 nights from May 17.2011 in a one-room double room. The hotel has 46 rooms. The choice of this hotel was due to the optimal price for us as self-traveling economy class tourists, the ability to cook lunch and dinner in the room, as well as the presence of 2 public bus stops 30-50 meters from the hotel, which made it easy and convenient to travel to any point located in Galilee and Tiberias.

In addition, we arrived from Jerusalem to the hotel and left it for Tel Aviv from the same stops, so we hardly had to use buses from the central bus station in Tiberias.
In December 2010, a friend of mine in Israel paid in full cash for our $483 double room for 7 nights with breakfast, which I transferred to him via MoneyGram. I do not have a credit card and therefore chose this payment method.
A friend sent me a scanner of room receipts and a hotel booking confirmation in English to my email.
The choice of this hotel was due mainly to positive reviews on the booking website. com. Unfortunately, there is practically no complete information about this hotel on the Internet, including the site of the hotel itself, so I decided to post my review about this hotel.
We arrived at the hotel at 12 noon and were warmly greeted by the owner of the hotel, Mr. Eli, who spoke only Hebrew and English. English is not a problem for me and we got a room within 10 minutes. I asked for a room with windows not on the road, but on the courtyard, which was instantly fulfilled. Eli personally went with us to the room and offered us an electric stove, frying pan, plates, glasses, forks and spoons, which came in handy for cooking in the room. All this was brought immediately after his departure by a hotel worker.
The room turned out to be with 4 beds of 40 meters, but without a balcony and only a shower in the bathroom. I asked to change it to another one - with a balcony, which was done in the morning after 11 o'clock immediately, as soon as the previous guests vacated the room.
Mr. Eli gave us a free map of Tiberias in English from the Israeli Ministry of Tourism and noted the location of the market and cheap supermarkets on it for us, as well as a couple of sheets in Russian on the Holy places near Tiberias. Offered assistance in organizing a boat trip around the Kinneret and the opportunity to book a taxi.
Since we checked in after 12 noon and breakfast was not included on our first day, but we were offered lunch in the evening. But we had just eaten ourselves in the room and politely declined.
The hotel has Russian-speaking workers - Rita at the reception, Lena cleans the rooms, Zina is the cook.
The entire staff, including English-speaking and Hebrew-speaking, are friendly to the guests of the hotel and try to solve pressing and extraordinary issues.
Opposite the reception is the office of Mr. Eli, who is constantly in place from 7 am to 7 pm, meeting and seeing off hotel guests.
Near the entrance there is free Internet, but in Hebrew and English only, including Skype, which I used, but without a microphone.
The hotel itself has 3 floors and we lived the first night in room 206, and then moved to room 219. This room was 20 meters, but with a balcony, a large bathroom, where it was convenient to wash and shower. Hot and cold water without restrictions. In a separate room there was a large refrigerator and a table with a sink, an electric kettle. The socket fell out of the box there, but it worked, so the tea was heated and the stove was connected.
The room had 2 single beds, bedside tables, a table and 2 chairs, bedside lamps and a large wardrobe with hangers, which were not in room 206. The TV was old, but it worked properly and showed 4 Russian-language channels, including one Israeli. The air conditioner worked properly. They systematically took out the garbage and cleaned the room, brought shampoo and soap, and also changed bed linen and towels, changed a couple of times.
The room could be accessed by stairs from 2 sides and by elevator.
Breakfast was served from 7:30 am to 10:30 am. It was a typical Israeli breakfast without meat and sausages like a buffet: 3 types of juice from concentrate, tea, instant coffee, milk, 2 types of herring, tuna (tuna), cucumber and tomato salad, corn, cottage cheese, cheese, sour cream , muffins, scrambled eggs, pancakes, jam, yogurt, white and black bread and other things that I did not eat.
Suleiman, who was present at breakfast, not knowing Russian, always offered to eat an omelette and called “pancake” in Russian. Chef Zina cooked everything deliciously and my wife and I always ate enough, like other hotel guests. We thank them for their care and attention.
The hotel is not new, but everything worked properly, so it did not interfere with our rest and did not bother us. Positive aura, attention to any request and interest in each guest from all employees more than compensated for these little things.
The hotel has a couple of viewing platforms - large balconies for this with chairs and the opportunity to make a babeyu, which is convenient for a party for a large company. From here, in good weather, you can see the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret) and in the evening a beautiful view of the lights of the houses of the neighboring mountains.
The breakfast room is located below the first floor and between it and the first floor there is a payphone on the wall, which is cheaper to call than from a hotel room.
I bought my wife and I tickets at a big discount at the hotel to visit the hot springs - Hamat Tiberias. They paid 40 shekels per person, and if they had bought it at the ticket office on the spot, it would have been 70 shekels, since there is a discount there only from 16:00 on the ticket price. And then the hotel bought a large batch of tickets for its residents, so the hotel has a discount and you can visit the sources at any time at this reduced price.
The hotel is located at the 6th traffic light on Naiberg Street 27. All traffic lights in Tver have a number indicated on it for better orientation for visitors. On foot you have to walk from the hill for about 25 minutes to the embankment and the market, easily focusing on these numbers.
It’s hard to go back in the heat and uphill, but the bus ticket of the Viola company in Tver costs 2.
7 shekels per person, which is cheaper than in Jerusalem (6.4 shekels) or Tel Aviv (6 shekels) and 10 minutes drive from the embankment to the hotel. Almost all buses passing by stop at the central bus station of Tiberias. Viola bus number 5 takes you from the hotel to the hot springs of Hamat Tiberias, it takes about an hour to walk there.
There is no safe in the room, so no money was left in the room. There is an announcement in English in the lobby that the hotel is not responsible for money and valuables left in the room.
At the Berger Hotel, Israelis and other multilingual people, both groups and individuals, stayed with us. Free parking for 20 cars.
