But this is also a plus: only hotel residents are on the beach, no beggars, merchants. The beach is equipped with: shower, toilet, . The guards do not let any strangers in, they even chase dogs so as not to interfere. When swimming at night, a security guard always sits nearby and watches. At night, the beach is completely lit up.
The pool is clean but small. When swimming in the dark, turn on the backlight and it flashes with multi-colored lights.
I really liked the restaurant, the dishes are all delicious, some are spicy. Buffet breakfast and dinner, a la carte restaurant for lunch.
The staff is welcoming and friendly. I don’t know about anyone, but they always came to meet us. We lingered for dinner from the tour, the guide called and they were waiting for us. We sat up in a restaurant with alcohol, they will come up, politely warn that they are closing. Then we move to the beach, there are chairs and tables, and we sit at least until the morning.
The tour must be taken at least with breakfast and dinner, there is nowhere else to eat, there are no restaurants for tourists in Chilaw yet. Dinner will cost from $20 for two. You can buy seafood at the market in Chilaw and they will cook it to order, they also bought fruits.
Wandered around Chilaw and felt like pioneers. The locals greet each other, observe with interest, take pictures, but do not pester, even at the bazaar. But already on excursions, where there are tourist places, the picture is different there. In Kandy - souvenir merchants pester and beg. In this regard, Chilaw is calm and good.
There is a bus from the hotel to Chilaw, 25 rupees per person, the final railway station. From it you can get to Colombo, 75 rupees per person, 2.5 hours drive. We traveled by train - impressive.
Prices for shrimp in the market are from 250 to 700 rupees, depending on the size. Drinking coconut 40-50 rupees, pineapple - 100-150, mango - 100, papaya from 120 per kg, bananas from 100 rupees. , and sell at a price as for locals. Dollar exchange rate 1 $ ~ about 124 rupees
About the attitude towards visitors: when we arrived, there were not enough rooms for everyone. There were 3 rooms for 5 couples that arrived. One couple settled as expected. The rest were offered to settle in 2 two-room suites for one night, with compensation: those who had breakfast - became breakfast-dinner for the entire stay, those who had breakfast-dinner, then generally full board. Immediately in the morning we were resettled, and we were left in this two-room suite. The next race also had problems with the settlement.
Evening entertainment is not there, if you're lucky, you can see the wedding.
