Let's start with a good moment (it's the only one) - a well-maintained large area, relatively clean... relatively! Minuses: 1. - watering this landscaped area with water from the sewerage, as evidenced by a distinct smell, well known to everyone, while it is not possible to be on the street, on the terrace, and even the closed door in the room does not help.

Let's start with a good moment (it's the only one) - a well-maintained large area, relatively clean... relatively!
Minuses:
1. - watering this landscaped area with water from the sewerage, as evidenced by a distinct smell, well known to everyone, while it is not possible to be on the street, on the terrace, and even the closed door in the room does not help. Also in the room you will eat at night, namely, eat, mosquitoes. The administration is not aware that in other hotels in GOA, without undeserved stars, it is in the order of things to have a working mosquito in the room. But we did not yet know that the most "exciting" was ahead of us (be sure to read to the end);
2. - there was no hot water. Since we were the first time in GOA, we thought that this was in the order of things (the water is heated in barrels and cooled down at night), my wife took a shower screaming, but I patiently accepted this as the norm and did not take action. In fact, she was absent for 2 days for an unknown reason, then she just went, which of course we were immensely pleased with this fact.
3. - plumbing was leaking and at night it was clearly audible and always wet in the bathroom, if you can call it that. There was a bucket included, which we used to collect drips, which helped to avoid dampness, but did not get rid of the noise;
4. - the safe did not work upon check-in, which we immediately noticed by calling the reception. A hotel employee came and, with general help, we came to the conclusion that the batteries were dead, they were replaced, but after manipulating the employee’s safe and the endless squeak of the device, after half an hour it stopped showing signs of life at all (apparently the safe was not in demand before us). The next day, another person returned, took off the fee and was like that with the words: but wokking. After a reminder of myself on the 3rd day, the issue was resolved and again we were happy as children.
We thought: maybe it's the policy of the hotel to plunge us into a nightmare and then take part in our problems, solving them, but let's face it, this quest is too expensive! By the way, there are no Russian channels, TV, if you are used to watching at night, that is, a local music channel, can help you calm down);
5. - the public of the hotel is 70+ Europe and "rich" locals from New Delhi, etc. They don’t put Russians in anything, the attitude is felt, despite the fact that our state, represented by my father, has long provided assistance to India, ranging from weapons to human resources (this is a subjective opinion regarding this particular hotel);
6. - own beach. . . it doesn't exist!! ! You have to go to the sea 250 meters from our house and the main building, of which 100 meters along the sand from which you will already be left to yourself (one wife was afraid to go beyond the territory)... Here are merchants who will not lag behind and just passing by Hindus will pester with their phones (selfies), services and just chat (we didn’t want all this, because we just came to relax from this).
7. - sunbeds on the beach, relatively not far from the sea, are provided after you say "ok" after reading that you owe 500 rupees (I note that this is a private beach, which is indicated on all official sources), and those sunbeds that cost on the territory of the hotel and border on the beach 100 meters from the sea, lined with lured traders, who will also not let you lie quietly, because. they speak all languages and I watched them there from the very morning until sunset and listened to what I promised them yesterday to buy their junk from them! On these beds you will also not be allowed to drink, eat and sunbathe, if you did not order it in their restaurant 4 times more expensive!! ! You will not get Internet in the restaurant, on the sunbeds and the beach, only in the reception area!
8. - If, in spite of everything, you still have a desire to stay there, you have a broad Russian soul, you came in peace and went to dinner for 1500 rupees and got poisoned! , drank wine and decided to dance to local music, then be prepared that the next morning you will be told that you will be evicted from the hotel with the police.
9. - After everything, we decided not to stay at the hotel and went to travel around Calangute and on our return we found paper glued to the door from the hotel guide Igor, who had never been seen that we had to leave the hotel tomorrow or the police would be called (attached letter). After calling his mobile number, he explained that we violated the rules of the hotel and they have the right to evict us and the hotel is holding money, with the motivation that they drank alcohol (why then you sell them in a restaurant), danced, thereby disturbing the rest (funny) and went out to the beach with plates (I don’t eat with my hands in the sand, obviously the wrong address)!
10. - the next day after our NOT eviction, the inaction of the guide and the tour operator Aneks tour (they were also contacted by the local representative office), we turned off the light in the house in the heat (we did without the police). Then we were left to ourselves (I remind you that according to the law, the tour operator is responsible for us). Transfer and further accommodation fell on our shoulders (if there is no money in excess of what was planned, get ready to find it in order to at least get to the Russian consulate in New Delhi. When leaving, they took money for everything that was possible, including for a sheet, which was soiled by their own ta-ta made on their beach, ATTENTION! in the amount of 3500 rupees and said that it is impossible to pay with a card, i. e. in your pocket (they even fool their hotel management). from the hotel it is also 4 times more expensive. The guide was notified of the location, but no one else was looking for us, they didn’t deal with the problem, they didn’t take us back to the plane and in general they frankly spat on us. But this doesn’t take us, there were many places where we lived -saw, there is something to compare, including another hotel in the Morjim area, where we were not allowed to spoil our impression of GOA and everything was exceptionally good and even more!
Here you have 1 point - "FOR" and 10 - "AGAINST" (not counting the little things). A quick question: how many stars does the hotel really have?!
Come to this wonderful state of GOA, but bypass this hotel if you do not want adventures with local flavor that impose and leave no choice!
Minuses:

Many Russians from neighboring hotels came to ours to lie down on sun loungers for free, simply by buying a bottle of water or to eat in the restaurant of our hotel. I repeat about the successful and the only location of the restaurant in the area, overlooking the sea and beautiful sunsets. Of the minuses, the absence of a curtain on the balcony door in the room, and people from the neighboring balcony can see our bed, I had to hang the door. We weren't in a hurry for breakfast, very little variety. It is forbidden to drink brought drinks in the restaurant. But we poured water, martinis into their eggplants. Drinking water, rum, fruit bought near the hotel. We ate at the hotel or ordered fresh fish and seafood in a modest cafe "at Herry's". The food there is tasty and cheap. We brought our own rum and martini. Knowledge of English solves any problem and significantly reduces the cost. Here on the site I saw the phone number of a local English-speaking taxi driver Sandy and he showed us the sights, beaches and shops for a maximum of inexpensively, with his help my husband and I went to Hampi by bus. A wonderful person, knows his business! The sea is clean, beautiful, the sand is yellow! The hotel area is beautiful, well-groomed, all greenery. Beach towels are changed every 2 days at the reception. We got on Diwali, so the Indians filled the hotel. In this regard, one night I had to stay up until 3 am - the city celebrated with loud music and fireworks

In February 2012, a crazy idea came to my mind in a dream - to go to India. having at that time 500 dollars, I turned to the members of the forum, I want to express my sincere gratitude to Anetka, who from the very beginning convinced that everything would work out and to Alexei 64, who virtually directed me to Chalston !! ! there are a lot of thoughts in my head, in my soul I have impressions, but I will try to write . So we arrived a week ago, I'm still under enthusiastic impressions! We arrived at 23 o'clock, settled immediately - my husband and I were in a C-5 bungalow, a friend in the main building - a huge bungalow, a large bed and an additional trestle bed, everything is perfectly clean, soap , toilet paper. looking ahead, I’ll say that we traveled all over the North and South coast of Goa and came to the conclusion that Chalston is the BEST HOTEL!! ! -near the hotel and taxi rank. we came to Goa to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, so we got on a local bus to the market in Mapusu, bought 4 king fish, 2 sharks and 2 kg of king prawns - all this was prepared for us for a nominal fee in a cafe at Haris's - awesomely delicious , so the question of food we did not stand in the future. leaving in the evening we ordered lunch and dinner - the products are always the freshest !! ! by the way, who will be after us, continue the tradition - we took a photo and laminated it - it hangs in a conspicuous place. we took one excursion to the jungle and to the spice plantation in Valerie tour-49 dollars, independently went to Panaji, Old Goa, along the beaches of Palolem, Mandrem, Morjim, Ashvem, Arambol, walked along the coast to Candolim and Baga. , , we went to the day market in Ajuna, the night market in Arpora. we also wanted to go by train to Hampi, but on the 10th day we were exhausted and decided to just lie on the beach, but there were unrealistic plans left, so we will definitely return !! ! we left with a slight sadness, but with confidence - GOA ACCEPTED US !! ! not quite yet I can collect all the thoughts in a heap, but I will be happy to answer all questions. GOA_we will definitely be back!!! !

Hotels sorted out for a long time, the main factor that influenced the choice was the location of the hotel and the territory. And apparently, in the choice was not mistaken.
The hotel is located approximately on the border with Baga. Along the coast to the central exit to Calangute beach, 400 meters, to Baga beach, about a kilometer. This is important because there are often stories about crowds of Hindus on the shore. Yes, it's true, but these masses of the local population bathe (get wet in the water) strictly in designated places, at the central exits to the beach. 2 jeeps of rescuers ply along the coast and drive the locals if they try to enter the water where they don’t need to. The beach was always almost empty, sometimes groups of Indians from Baga to Calangute and back passed along the edge of the surf.
The hotel has a very large, and as for North Goa, a rare advantage - a direct well-maintained access to the sandy beach. After walking along the coast for several kilometers, I did not notice anything like that. Chalston very successfully combined the advantages of the South and the North.
The territory of the hotel is not wide, elongated perpendicular to the beach. Well-maintained and very green, several people are constantly engaged in the park. The hotel itself consists of several two-story villas (the most remote part, in the last villa it is possible to have a cafe next to it through the fence! ). Then a long 3-storey main building, next to it is a swimming pool. After passing another 30 meters, the platform of the restaurant under a canopy, overlooking the ocean. Immediately behind it, on a green lawn, under palm trees, a dozen 3 sun loungers. This relaxation zone ends with a staircase of 1.5 meters leading down directly to the sandy beach. In the evening, at 5 o'clock, the sunbeds are removed, and wicker chairs are placed above the edge of the beach - in front of you there is an amazing view of the surf and the sunset, in the back there is a restaurant with quiet, unobtrusive background music.
Breakfasts are Indian, I saved myself with buns, butter, jam and coffee : ). You can buy anything from a fairly extensive menu. Usually the prices in restaurants at hotels are overpriced, but in this case the prices are reasonable. Not luxurious, but hearty, beautifully decorated, overlooking the ocean, lunch cost me 7-9 dollars.
Season. Here there can be 3 possible answers: 1. Season, 2. Not a season, 3. Almost not a season : ) - decide for yourself. For two weeks there was one rain in the morning for an hour. The sky is constantly light cloudy - the sun does not close. Humidity is higher than at home, during the day it is hot on city streets - but this is India !! ! The only thing is that the hotel guide did not recommend Hampi, it’s very hot there. The breeze is blowing on the beach, it’s comfortable. Plus, the season gives the hotel, no need to drag along the dusty streets from the beach and to the beach. There are not many tourists. If something was closed, I didn’t notice. I asked my neighbors, who are not the first time, what is the difference between the weather and winter? The only difference is that you have to turn on the air conditioner at night.
About the rooms, here I will be more restrained in my assessments. The hotel was built in 1984. The layout of the building and comfort was determined by the Indian standards of that time. TO gives the hotel one type of room-standard, one of the tour sites-2 types, finally, the hotel website gives 4 types. I would say that there are probably at least 6-7 number options. From a small standard with a large balcony, to something like a family room sea view. Only on balconies-4 options. Check-out until 11. Check-in from 12. I was at the hotel at about 7 - they offered breakfast, and at 8 they gave the keys. The room is small, double bed, LCD TV, a good refrigerator. New tiles throughout the hotel. Window air conditioning (in the wall), ceiling fan. The bathroom, like everywhere in India, has a shower on the floor. After a couple of days, I began to find even some convenience in this - the room was perceived as a large shower cabin : ) Toiletries - paper and soap. The wardrobe (shelves only) and the mirror in the bathroom were a little surprised by the Soviet design of the 30s. Bed linen, beach and bath towels. I would especially emphasize that the cleanliness of the linen is beyond praise! Safe in the room, free of charge. Tiled balcony, spacious, although not the largest (there are smaller ones). Of the real drawbacks, for some reason it was in my room that there was no shelf for toiletries. Cramped, part of the clothes folded on the bed, since it is large. In some places, the metal structures from the corner on which the tiles of the canopies around the balconies are laid are very rusty.
Minor work is constantly being carried out to improve the hotel and the territory, which does not interfere, but rather indicates the attention of management to the hotel. CONCLUSION: ignore the little things - GREAT HOTEL.

This is a huge plus - I didn’t have to walk through the terrible heat to the beach, in the first days of April the temperature reached +40 in the afternoon. . +45, and there are no air conditioners anywhere except the room. The hotel for its 3 * is even nothing. Linen is changed, beach towels are given, toilet paper is also given. We read somewhere before the trip that they had problems with this and were very worried about this. Breakfast does not change over the years - the same scrambled eggs, eggs, bun, tea, coffee. But it is unrealistic to stay hungry in GOA. At every step there are cafes where they already know Russian well enough, there is a menu in Russian. Not far from the hotel there is a great place - cafe "Mirabai*s". The owner's name is Vasu, but he introduces himself simply as Vasya. Very cheerful and hospitable. The kitchen is excellent and inexpensive. We went on excursions with the travel agency "Valery tour". One office on the main street, not far from the Manchester United bar, if you are facing the bar, then turn right. Excursions are always for 4-6 people. , carry on Toyote Innova, Russian guide. The cost is 2.5-3 times cheaper than the guides at the hotel offer. Fruit, unlike Thailand, is not sold at every turn. We went to the local market. Near "Manchester united" to the right, to a roundabout, then to the left, go to a large intersection, between the buildings there will be a small passage where it stinks of rotten fish, this is the entrance to the market. On Wednesdays in Anjuna there is a large clothing market. They sell things , suitable for use only on vacation. Tunics, sundresses, T-shirts, etc. Traded in different ways, but not less than half than knocked down. Things are bright, but when washed, they shed very much. We went to the market, beaches and in Panaji by taxi. On average, for a round-trip trip and stops where you want to see, take pictures, swim, they gave 500 rupees.

Right at the exit to the beach there is a hotel bar with reasonable prices, so we often dined in it, admiring the sea. The rooms are clean and comfortable: air conditioning, safe, 2 ceiling fans over the sleeping and kitchen areas, large balcony, new plumbing, TV (no Russian channels), wicker furniture. Room cleaning every other day. Clean towels without any stains. The pool is small, and why - the sea is a minute away, its own area with sunbeds (free) on the public beach, symbolically fenced, so it won’t hurt you to admire the sea while lying down, sellers of all sorts of things are not allowed to enter this area, the beach is very clean and boundless, the sea is amazing, there are few people, cows come only in the evening for 2 hours, lie down quietly and leave, the only "-" is a meager breakfast, for those who are used to eating plumply in the morning: alternating boiled eggs, a mash of eggs and milk and an omelette , buns, jam and butter like in an airplane, tea in a bag, rast. coffee, vats of boiling water, mountains. milk and a drink made from tea and milk, freshly squeezed juice from watermelon, pineapple, a mix of papaya and the above. True, if this seems not enough to you, you can order anything at the bar. Very neat and efficient waiters, there was never a feeling of disgust. The hotel is located very conveniently: right on the sea and 10 minutes from the center, 5 min. from the exchanger (nearest), 1-2min. from a shop with drinks and all sorts of things, trading shops, so there were no problems with shopping. I recommend this hotel, I will definitely go there myself.

Chalston...... I remember when I was going to Goa for the first time, I looked through a bunch of hotels, choosing the one where I could relax both in body and soul. Finally settled on this hotel. I can note right away that according to the volume of photos that I managed to view via the Internet, the impression of the hotel was average.

I can note right away that according to the volume of photos that I managed to view via the Internet, the impression of the hotel was average. But I still settled on it (probably tired of the endless searches) . . But what was my surprise when I arrived there and got used to it a little! The staff were very friendly, the rooms had a decent view and were cleaned regularly, the restaurant had great food and the beach was three hops from the restaurant (front line)! ! In addition, there is a large area of landscaping around the hotel in a VERY well maintained (! ) and you will always have the opportunity to lie on the soft grass under the palm tree - an amazing and magical sense of balance and peace. . I would like to give one piece of advice from my own experience - always go to flip flops on the beach sand. Yes, of course, Mr. Chalston's employees regularly collect the left garbage on their territory, but you can't know what's buried in the sand!... : /. . . : )
The sea is just AMAZING! ! The first time I was in Chalston was at the end of November and the water was like fresh milk. Then it was in February - it was cooler (although, to each his own, probably : )).
There are a lot of shops and restaurants (at the exit to the main road - Baga road)! I highly recommend getting enough coconut milk! Yes, it can howl at an amateur, your body will thank you very much for saturation with this AMAZING product! So let this be your "cure for all ills" while you're there. -). . At the food market (which is three steps from the Menezis supermarket you will find a large selection of fruits and vegetables! I remember I was very addicted to Chinku fruit - this fruit looks like something between potatoes and kiwi (especially nondescript), but it tastes great and the price is just magical! It tastes like a sweet compote apple to me. YUMMMMM!!! ! : D
I have been to discos several times. I still don’t remember the names, but they have 2 of the most popular ones in that area. Everything is VERY civilized and security is monitored there. Girls for free. And it looks like men without women are not allowed in (only in couples) OR men need to pay for themselves (500 rupees). Or maybe this applies only to the male population of Goa. In general, the better half of humanity passes for free! : D ; )
For me, India is a unique country (although it is not for everybody). visited several countries in Europe, but only there I found an inner balance . . You decide for yourself. -))
