Already on the spot I realized that they, to put it mildly, are not entirely accurate.
This hotel has two names "Club Pyla Beach Resort" and "TSIALIS HOTEL APARTMENTS".
There is information on the Internet that:
Club Pyla Beach Resort 4*
TSIALIS HOTEL APARTMENTS 3*.
In fact, this hotel does not have a single star, which was confirmed by hotel employees. It does not even belong to class A hotels (it is a class B hotel).
First of all, it should be understood that the hotel consists of 2 buildings. 1 building (1-37 number) and 2 building (38-43). Positive reviews, as I understand it, are written by tourists located in the second building (numbers 38-43).
In general, the hotel needs renovation. Both outside and inside, replacement of old furniture.
The air conditioning system in the first building (numbers 1-37) is shared. Air conditioning is on from 18:00 to 23:00. And despite the fact that in the daytime the temperature in the shade is about +35 ° C. This is just a mockery of tourists. In addition, the air conditioner rumbles strongly and interferes with sleep.
Being on the beach in such heat is very problematic. We usually went to the beach before 10:00-11:00 and after 17:00.
On the very first day, it turned out that the gas stove was not working and was all stained. True, on the same day it was repaired. In the kitchen there are old scratched tefal frying pans, spoons, forks old, worn out, as in a public dining room. Dishes are old and worn out. There were also cockroaches.
Plumbing is old, mirrors in the bathroom are not wiped, everything is stained.
When they opened the wardrobe in the bedroom, the stench was such that they had to open the windows and air the room for half a day.
Two interior doors did not close (the latches were broken).
Two lamps did not work on the landing in front of the room and one in the room.
The rooms are not cleaned well, the garbage is not thrown out, the floor is not swept.
The pool at the hotel is located right next to the highway and is separated from it by a man-sized fence. I don’t understand those tourists who, having arrived in another country, instead of swimming in a clean and warm sea, prefer to breathe exhaust gases in a pool near the highway.
There are two paved roads in front of the hotel and a highway closer to the sea. Between them is a dirt car park, which overlooks the windows of the room. When a strong wind blows, the dust from the parking lot flies directly onto the balcony and into the room.
Rooms for two people without a balcony, but the windows overlook the garden, not the car park.
The work of the receptionist leaves much to be desired. There is information on the Internet that the reception works around the clock. Repeatedly at different times of the day I came across the fact that there was no one at the reception (despite the fact that some tourists leave luggage there, there are also safe boxes in which tourists keep money, valuables and documents, since there is no safe in the room). See photo. The night porter sleeps on the couch in the next room with the door open to the street. See photo.
Somewhere on the 3rd day of our stay at the reception, we lost our room key, issued a duplicate.
The undoubted advantage of the hotel is the lack of animation and discos. You can go to bed earlier.
About ecology. A few kilometers from the hotel, on the seashore, there is an industrial enterprise, 5 pipes of which are smoked around the clock. See photo.
If you are going to cook in your apartment, then it makes sense to buy groceries at the Carfur supermarket in Larnaca. From the hotel 15 minutes by bus (2 € round trip) or by taxi (20 € round trip).
If you are going to eat at local catering establishments, I recommend the Mamas diner. Approximately 150 m from the hotel along the highway, opposite the Golden Bay 5 * hotel. Unlike the rest of the nearest similar establishments, which are empty in the evenings, there are always a lot of visitors in Mamas, 70-80% of the tables are occupied in the evenings, respectively, the products are always fresh. The bulk of visitors are Western Europeans, there is a menu in Russian and a Russian-speaking waitress. For 10-15 € you can have a normal lunch.
Opposite the hotel on the first line is the hotel "Lordos 4 *" with a very well-groomed territory. On the beach of this hotel there is paragliding (parasailing behind a motor boat), water skiing, canoeing, catamaran, windsurfing, riding a "tablet" - a round inflatable projectile, similar to a children's inflatable pool with side handles.
Personally, I preferred the jet ski (30 € for 15 min). It is better to ride at 8-9 in the morning, when the sea is calm, you can drive at high speed.
Compared to Larnaca, the Pyla area is definitely better. Larnaca is a dirty little town, a lot of cars, a lot of people. I have never seen such filthy sidewalks anywhere, although this is not the first time abroad. I didn’t like the beach in Larnaca - some kind of compacted sand.
There are few people and cars in the Pyla area, much calmer. The beach is small pebbles. In the sea, the bottom is sandy, the depth increases gradually. At a distance of 30-50 m from the shore, the depth is knee-deep (waist-deep).
