Rested twice, in November and on New Year's Eve. The hotel expanded the SPA area called "Magic Forest", which pleased. Appeared: 80 meter slide and additional zones for water body massage, relaxation, pools with warm and cold water. With the increase in the volume of the SPA zone, there are not so many people, everyone dissolves in different places, no one interferes with anyone. As usual, we booked a promenade room. True, at first they decided to try the standard, but after viewing, they immediately refused and moved for an additional fee. The food is on top, there is enough of everything, and meat, and fish, and vegetables, and fruits, tea, coffee, juices, kvass - of our own production. If you take alcohol at the hotel bar, it turns out to be a little expensive, it’s better to buy it on the way to Duty Free or already in the city store, although the prices bite there, but still cheaper than at the hotel. If earlier goods in Finland were lower than ours, now they have leveled off, with the exception of some types of food, and of course the quality. The hotel has a bowling alley, it costs more than in St. Petersburg, but you can play. A visit to the gym is included in the price of vouchers, although the simulators are mostly already old. With the passage of customs as lucky, but large buses pass through a separate line and, as a rule, faster than cars. I advise you to try the fish soup in a fish store, the taste is admirable and naturally different from the one offered in Disas Fish. In the shops of the city you can get on sales, which are held periodically. Goods are usually of good quality. Imatra, the city itself is small, but very clean and comfortable, there are a lot of squirrels and ducks, which are not at all afraid of people and who willingly eat the offered bun. Those who wish can get to the city center on their own by bus (5 euros per person) or taxi (~15 euros), the schedule is at the Reception. The New Year also passed with a bang, a good table, a delicious menu, performances by artists, fireworks, and dancing for those who wish. In general, we come to this hotel as to our country house, everything is so beautiful, well-groomed, and comfortable that we don’t want to leave at all.

Everything is as usual: shopping in the shops of the center, an excursion to the waterfall and checking into a hotel room. The hotel is undergoing reconstruction to expand the existing water park. The work is being carried out in a new building, which is attached to the main one. The planned name is "Magic River", which will include: foot pools, massage jets, a large jacuzzi, a hot and cold pool, and an 80-meter slide. All this beauty should open in July 2018. No work was carried out on holidays, so there was no construction noise. The existing water park, as usual, is on top, there is everything you need to get complete enjoyment, I can imagine what will happen after the opening of the slides! Food and service - "super", there is a Russian-speaking senior bartender, a native of Estonia, who will gladly answer all questions and help with the choice of drinks. Those who wish can get to the city center on their own by bus (5 euros) or taxi (15 euros), you can order a car back at any shopping center. We were “lucky” with the weather outside, minus 20, it felt like 25-28, but sunny, strong wind. For Finns, this is not a hindrance for walking, and our Russians are not far behind. A short walk on the lake for 40-50 minutes only invigorates, and if after that there is still a warm pool and sauna, then!! ! The rest was active and positive, although the Finnish customs a little upset on the way back, for the first time! began to check things and goods exported from Finland, which was a little surprised and a little upset! apparently trying to keep up with our border guards? Well, in general, only positive emotions! We recommend this hotel - you won't regret it.

We got there relatively quickly, except for traffic jams through the whole of Svetogorsk in the morning, but the bus passed almost without a queue. As usual, a walk through the center, shops and check-in at the hotel. Gathering of tourists for the New Year (gala dinner) at 2200 local time, 2300 Moscow time. So the New Year was celebrated twice - locally and Moscow time. I must say, the dinner was worthy, there was almost everything that is usually prepared for such an event and even more. In addition to the first, second courses and salads, excellent desserts, including pastries, cakes, nuts and fruits. The tables were pre-booked by the tour operator, so there was no crush and crush. For each couple, a small bottle of champagne, the rest through the bar or whoever was smarter brought it with them. In addition to dinner, there was a concert and fireworks. Both also liked it. At one in the morning or at two o'clock Moscow time, the celebration ended, but no one was forcibly kicked out, you could sit both in the common room and in the bar. The impression is amazing, everything is calm, decorous and noble. The next morning, as usual, there were no drunks in the pool and SPA procedures, no one was lying in excrement. True, construction is underway on the territory of the hotel, they want to finish building in the annex, to the common pool, water slides, they say, they will finish by June this year, they don’t indulge in long-term construction. In general, I liked everything very much, as usual, the hotel turned out to be on top. Next New Year, if everything goes well, we will definitely go again.

This time we decided to take an economy room, and were disappointed, the room itself is small, and has a number of differences from the promenade, namely, no slippers, old bathrobes, no tea and coffee sets, and of course no balconies either. We decided not to tempt fate and move, with a surcharge, to the promenade. It is better, of course, to come to this hotel on weekdays, because on the weekends in the SPA zone it is not overcrowded, there are a lot of people. There have been minor changes in the hotel itself: now bracelets for visiting the pool and the SPA zone are issued upon check-in, for the entire period of stay at the hotel, and although breakfast is included in the price, the staff checks the accommodation in the hotel rooms at the entrance to the restaurant. I think there is no need to explain why such changes were introduced, although we were not embarrassed. There is no such diversity in nutrition as it was 2-3 years ago, but no one remains hungry, there is enough of everything. Nature enchants. We will definitely come here again, even regardless of the changes that I described above. Until the middle of summer 2018, an additional building is being built, apparently to expand the SPA zone, but this does not interfere with a pleasant pastime. We definitely recommend visiting these wonderful places.

Meals - half board buffet, quite decent breakfasts and dinners, you can choose according to your taste, a lot of fish and meat. You can buy lunch on your own for 20 euros or go to the cafe of the hotel itself, or the nearest cafes by the lake. But as practice shows, only breakfast and dinner are enough, instead of lunch - a snack in a cafe. The water park is one of the largest in Finland, quite spacious, there are many hot tubs and jets, for almost all parts of the body. There are both Finnish and Turkish saunas, and in all it is customary to completely undress, regardless of whether they are combined or not. At first, it was somehow not very familiar, then they got used to it, it was even cool - a joint visit to the sauna for men and women, although there are separate ones, in general, for an amateur. The time of stay is not limited, it is possible from morning until closing, several times a day. In general, you get complete relaxation, after all these procedures and pine air, you want to bury yourself in bed (by the way, it is like a feather bed), and enjoy a pleasant languor all over your body. It is very convenient to get from St. Petersburg - about 2.5 - 3 hours, depending on the passage of the Finnish customs. We can say we just fell in love with this hotel. We will definitely visit these wonderful places whenever possible.

The hotel is good for both families with children and couples / singles. A pretty good SPA complex with a bunch of pools for every taste, a couple of saunas and the opportunity to swim in the open air (not always and everywhere you will find this). A decent restaurant with normal food, although it has its pros and cons.
We went for the weekend, three adults, booked a studio room, but since they were no longer available, we were offered a promenade building. They did not regret it - the room has everything you need, it is relatively spacious, but they did not beat their feet on the bed and furniture, the son slept in a nook, which was separated from the main part of the room by a sliding door. This nook can accommodate two - in addition to the sofa, there is also an upper shelf, like in a train, and a ladder to climb onto this shelf. A small balcony with a table with an ashtray and two iron chairs. The view, however, was not very good - on a new building under construction. But, in general, we did not come to admire the view from the balcony. The bathroom is more spacious than I expected - a washbasin, a hairdryer, a toilet, a hygienic shower connection, and a shower area with plastic doors. You can not take shower gel with you - dispensers hang on the wall. The room offers body and hair conditioners according to the number of persons. We had for some reason for 2 persons. Bath towels, face towels and bathrobes. There were no slippers. In addition to the beds, the room had a wardrobe, bedside tables, a coffee table, a desk with a built-in mini-bar (we used it as a refrigerator), an LCD TV on the wall. Wi-Fi is free.
The hotel is located away from civilization. The center of Imatra can be reached by bus number 3 - the price of a trip is 3.8 euros one way per person, or by taxi about 17 euros per car. There are no shops nearby.
In addition to the SPA center, you can take a walk along the lake (in hot weather, two beaches are waiting for you), organize barbecues, visit the gym and play bowling. The latter is not included in the price, so for a fee. The prices are as follows - up to 19 hours the price of 1 hour of playing on one track is 16 euros. After 7 p. m. there is neon lighting, and the price rises to 23 euros. The bowling bar is very expensive.
Dinner was not included in the tour price, so we paid extra for it. It cost us 22 euros per person, but on weekdays dinner cost 19 euros. What it was connected with is not clear, because it is somehow not relevant for the Finns to celebrate Victory Day, but according to the program, dinner on May 10 would cost 26 euros, and lunch on May 11 as much as 34 euros. Even 22 euros does not match the price-quality. My son left dinner almost hungry.
The breakfast selection was quite sufficient. Cunning fellow citizens strenuously guarded when the watermelon would be brought. There were a lot of people and the waiters could not cope with the influx. In fact, there was no free table cleaned in time. Especially "killed" the queues for tea. And small children 3-4 years old, getting underfoot, sent by their parents to get food on their own, so as not to interfere with them (the parents) to eat their breakfast.
If it were not for the need to open a visa with a stay of at least two days, I would not go to this or any other hotel in the country of Suomi. You can just relax in the Leningrad region, with chic spa complexes, you just need to know the places. Go shopping in one day. In this country, a good rest with a rich excursion program. For example, like in autumn our visit to Savonlinna and Kerimyaki plus the Novovalam Monastery.

On the same bus, you can get to the central city square in 15 minutes, where all the Finnish shops beloved by Russian tourists are located. The bus runs infrequently, about once an hour, you can take the schedule at the reception.
The territory of the hotel is located in a small forest literally on the banks of the huge Saimaa reservoir. You need to walk 500 meters to the sandy beach. The water is clean, the bottom is made of small granite pebbles, swimming is a pleasure. You can fish with a simple rod without a reel. In winter, you can rent Finnish sledges and skis.
But the most important thing, for which you want to come here again and again - a chic SPA center, which includes a large swimming pool with lanes (aqua aerobics classes are held here) with beautiful colored lighting and water massage, a paddling pool for kids with a small slide and a huge pool, designed in the form of a reservoir in the tropics: rocky shores, lush vegetation (artificial of course), a waterfall, the singing of birds of paradise. From time to time, to the delight of the children, they turn on a "tropical downpour" with thunder and lightning (they warn about this in a minute). Through the tunnel you can swim out into a small outdoor pool. There is also a Jacuzzi, a hot tub and a wide variety of massage jets throughout. There is a steam room and several saunas. Visiting this paradise from morning to evening without time limit.

Two bedrooms upstairs, one with one double bed, the other with two single beds, in the fireplace room the sofa can be folded out and there will be another bed. Small kitchenette with all utensils. Two toilets and ONE! shower. Sauna is standard. Fireplace. All hotel services for residents of cottages are paid, nothing is included, breakfast and spa visits are paid separately, there are small discounts. We took three meals a day, not very handy, it's better to cook by yourself. The kids loved the spa. Attitude towards Russians in the hotel is not very good. No one speaks Russian, although with their number they could put someone at the reception who speaks. Not everyone at the reception speaks English, sometimes you had to wait a while for English-speaking staff to ask something. In general, there was an impression of some kind of disorganization, sometimes there was confusion with food cards, sometimes with towels in the spa, then with keys to the spa, then with sleds, for a 5-star hotel this is somehow not very. Despite these minor drawbacks, we had a good time, rented both Finnish and ice sleds. We walked a lot and breathed fresh air. We walked on the playground, it is located behind the hotel. Surrounded by a very beautiful and large park. Spa with one slide for older children and one for little ones, there is a hammam, a sauna, a large regular pool, and water aerobics classes are held there. Well, the main pool with all sorts of jets and massagers, a waterfall, a hot tub, well, you can swim out into the pool on the street. We liked! : )
