VILLA GERARDO 3*. . . the site says that this is a hotel located near the center of Sorrento and the beaches, with beautiful panoramic views. The truth of this is only one - views)
It is located in Capo di Sorrento, ie. something like a suburb. You need to go by bus, because. walk 2-3 kilometers up and down the road. You can take a taxi - 15 euros. Then it turned out that there is a Circumvesuviana stop halfway to it from the city, but we didn’t know about it, and it would be decent to go from it too.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were shocked. at first they couldn’t even find the entrance, there was practically no staff, we were placed on the top (it seems to be the 3rd floor) in a simply terrible room. The hotel itself and the service are just disgusting, the food is the same (for breakfast - a couple of rolls, jams, coffee, yogurt and that's it, there is not even tea). It can be called a hotel with a very big stretch, and even for 3 * it does not pull. There were practically no people, it was half empty, which is not surprising, because. We wouldn't go there a second time. Before we went, we looked for reviews, but unfortunately we could not find, and there was practically no choice of inexpensive hotels offered by the travel agency. A girl from Ternopil or Lviv works in a local bar, she has been living there for many years, and she shares useful information about where to go / go and what to see.
The only thing that pleased me was the view from the balcony, it was beautiful, the view of the city from above / from the side was really beautiful.
We decided to go to the beach, asked at the reception, it turned out that there were actually no normal beaches nearby at all, there were stones with the remains of an old villa (local landmark), but it wasn’t very good to swim there, and there was a beautiful grotto - we went to look for it. We walked about 15-20 minutes from the hotel, but the grotto really turned out to be beautiful. The remains of the villa nearby were not at all impressive, because. judging by the smell, in fact, they are used as a toilet for fishermen, but when we looked at the same villa from the sea (went to the island of Capri), it looked very beautiful, it is often depicted as a local landmark in the pictures.
It’s worth going to the grotto, it’s beautiful, with cool water and the opportunity to swim out into the sea)))
I liked the city itself, but it turned out that there were no normal beaches in it. But there are wonderful Limoncello factories, where we bought several liters to go home to Kyiv. With restaurants in the city, it’s also somehow not very good, although, perhaps, we didn’t search well, but we ate delicious ice cream in the local Gelateria.
They want boats from the city to Capri - they really liked the island, and the beaches there are much better, and the sea voyage brought pleasant impressions. But that's a completely different story. . .
