We rested at the Beira Mar Alfran Resort 2 * from April 5 to April 18.2014.
To the beach 5 minutes on foot without stopping near each trading shop, or 20 minutes in the junction going to the shops along the way, and there are a lot of them. The distance from the hotel to the beach strip is 650 meters, we walked further along the beach towards Calangute for another 200 meters, there are fewer people, near Shekov - Xavier's Shack (Baga), ST. Anthonys, Inspirations, and Bosco's shack, Bobby's shack.
In Shek Inspirations, the guy Barma is a professional massage therapist, he does a full body massage for 1 hour not expensive (asks 700 rupees = $ 11, we bargained for less), my husband and I were the first of our company to go, and we were very pleased. The four of us rested.
The hotel is located in the courtyard from the road, so there is no noise from cars, the traffic is very active in the evening. April is the end of the season, there were not many vacationers, mostly Russians, Indians, a little Germans and British.
HOTEL - I rate the hotel as 2 + * or even as a weak 3 *. a small area, several three-story, and one four-story building (we lived in it), there is some greenery, grass, different trees and fruit trees too - Mango, Chiku (chiku, chikoo) and some other, two clean pools, one in the courtyard building A3, and the other near the restaurant overlooking the meadow where cows and herons graze. Towels are provided near the pool, there are sunbeds and umbrellas, a shower and a toilet. In the corridors on the floors, the floor was washed once a week. There were no cockroaches and ants on the upper floors, only geckos sometimes ran around. Nearby, the Nazri Resort is a little better.
ROOM No. 369 - we had a standard without air conditioning with a ceiling fan at several speeds, about 20 m *, metal furniture - two beds, two armchairs, two bedside tables and a bench. Bedding and two towels are very shabby but washed, a refrigerator, a small wardrobe with 8 trempels and an additional sink and countertop next to the wardrobe. The room smells of dampness. The bathroom is medium in size, the boiler perfectly heated the water immediately after turning on the switch - which is located next to the switch in the bathroom. There were no interruptions in water, everything is fine! In the bathroom there is a bucket and a ladle. The light was turned off twice in 2 weeks, and then for a very short period of several minutes. Maybe it looks stupid, but we refused to clean the room, hanging our padlock on the door. Bought a big bar of Tide soap for 10 rupees and cleaned up ourselves. On the balcony there is a table and two chairs, an ashtray. A rope was tied on the balcony and the laundry dried quickly. There are 5 sockets in the room, only 2 of them worked normally, they took FumiToks from mosquitoes from the house - they did an excellent job. They also took Off aerosol with maximum protection against insects (sprayed on the body before going out for dinner in the evening and for a walk). Safe at reception, we didn't use it.
No luck with the neighbors, the youth slept during the day and in the evening for buns, they came extinguished after 3 a. m. , yelled, laughed, sang “Black Raven” and “Natashka-Turd”, first they knocked out the door to their room and then found the keys and opened the door. And so every night. When we had elections, liquor stores were closed for 2 days, it was forbidden to drink alcohol in restaurants, so the locals rented rooms in our hotel and spent a full 2 days in the rooms.
FOOD - breakfast was free: toast, buns, orange jam and strawberry marmalade, tea bags, coffee and hot and cold milk. For money you can order 2 eggs. fried = 70 rupees, omelette with cheese = 90 rupees, omelet with sausages = 150 rupees.
The course is 1 $ = 60 rupees, if you change 100, and smaller bills are taken at a low rate.
Lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant is quite good menu and prices. There is never a ready meal. Everything is cooked after you ordered, so the waiting time can be decent))) up to an hour))) Shrimps in white sauce 8pcs. with rice = 220 rupees, chicken too. King prawns 7 or 8 pieces = 380 rupees, soup = 70 and 90 rupees. In general, dinner for two cost us from 400 to 700 rupees, we took our drink and alcohol and asked for glasses from the bartender. A pleasant surprise were gifts from the chef 5 times in 2 weeks they brought us rum. At first we were wary, but then we got used to it =)) at the end of the holiday, the chef came up and thanked us for having dinner at his restaurant. Pleasant music played in the evenings, there were show programs - karate, fire shows, live music. From neighboring hotels also came to eat in ours.
The cafes down the street and in shek on the shore also have a good selection and prices. We ordered a shark in shek, about 1.5 kg for 1700 rupees, they cooked very tasty.
We bought different rum 750 ml. , Old Monk = 150 rupees, Old Seilor = 90 rupees (it tastes more like our good cognac), Kaptain Morgan = 550 rupees, Bacardi = 480 rupees.
Juice in a package 1l. = 90 and 100 rupees, ice cream cone 35 rupees, cup 20 rupees, yoghurt 500g. = 50 rupees, Goan mango= 150 rupees 1kg, passion fruit=300 rupees 1kg. , pineapple=50.70, 100 rupees by size, tomatoes 40 rupees 1 kg, watermelon 60 rupees a piece, papaya = 50 rupees a piece, freshly squeezed fresh juices from 80 to 100 rupees a glass.
Glasses from 150 rupees, a large selection, flip flops from 200 rupees, you need to bargain everywhere, but there are also fixed prices.
WIFI. INTERNET at the hotel in the restaurant and in shek on the beach give a password for free if you order food from them. Often disconnected, the speed is small, but at least somehow you can keep in touch with family and friends.
BEACH - we stopped at Inspirations shek, few people, no locals, nice bartender, gently sloping clean beach. Get ready for the fact that you will be photographed constantly both from under the quiet, and ask to be photographed together, sometimes it was annoying. Sometimes cows walk along the beach, there are a lot of dogs near each shack, molesters walk along the beach, selling various trinkets, elephants, jewelry, pareos, bedspreads, strawberries, etc. During our vacation, there were two cases - a bag was stolen from a woman. Once we saw how young sales guys grouped by 5 people, three girls and two guys, distracting those sunbathing on the sunbeds near the shek, one takes away the bag, then everyone scatters into the bushes for the shek. We walked to Calangute beach, a little to Candolim, there are more people and there are more cows and more dogs. The air temperature was +35 during the day, +28 at night, the water temperature in the Arabian Sea of the Indian Ocean was +28, +30 in the afternoon, for me it's just a fairy tale!
For young people in GOA just a paradise! In the evening, there are discos until the morning for girls to enter and drink all night for free, alcohol is very cheap in stores, drugs are offered at every turn, girls will not get bored. In general, get drunk, stoned, fall in love, and the like =))
EXCURSIONS - they didn’t take it from the guide (and saw the guide only when they arrived at the hotel), agreed with the taxi driver about “GOA in one day” - waterfalls with monkeys and the jungle, elephants, temples, old GOA. He spoke mainly in English and a few words in Russian, in general, almost everyone understood. We also traveled by regular bus for 20 rupees to the capital of GOA, Panaji, from the final stop in Panaji we took a ferry ride - it’s cool when the whole crowd on scooters, bikes and on foot fills up on the ferry, 5 minutes and already in the city itself.
For those who take lunches and dinners - a card for 200 rupees is issued for each person, you must order from the menu. If ordered in excess of this amount, simply pay the difference. The food is very tasty. By 12.00 we returned to the hotel, until 16.00 lunch and sleep. It is better to relax in the room at this time. Waking up at 7:00 am, going to bed at 1:00 am.
The tour was taken from TO News Travel (NEWS Travel) with a transfer through Kyiv-Sharjah-Dabolim, Air Arabia, without food (they took their own on board). The road from home to the hotel took 22 hours, very tiring. They waited for a visa for 5 days, they received passports with a visa right in Boryspil upon departure. , a photo for a visa is needed

I liked it very much! the room is simple, but spacious. The furniture is not new, but the furniture is not the same look.
went out for breakfast, returned in the evening. lived in a building near a large pool. didn’t hear the neighbors. windows overlooked the courtyard. in the morning you can hear the voices of local women who cleaned the garden. sugar, jams, butter, toast and small yellow buns are included in the free breakfast. for very little money (I don’t remember exactly) you can order porridge, scrambled eggs with something tasty, pancakes. we didn’t order, and so it was enough. we had dinner almost always in the hotel, the food is delicious, ALWAYS (we came across this everywhere in India) they cook for you, and do not serve cooked food before. The prices at the hotel for food are lower. An interesting entertainment program during dinner and holidays. We went on an excursion ourselves, we found a taxi driver and he drove us for 3 days; 1 day to a waterfall, plantations and swimming with an elephant, the second day different beaches of North Goa, 3 to the city and in the evening to the night market. The taxi driver was very decent, he arrived on time in the morning, drove all day, a lot of things said, it's a pity we did not understand him well (our bad English: ) he speaks well. And probably the most important thing is that the hotel is located away from the road, in the garden, so in the evening after a whole day of impressions it is so nice to return home to silence! have dinner (maybe even dance) and go to sleep in a cool room under the buzzing of a ceiling fan : ))) But: there are mosquitoes, this is a disadvantage of this hotel. there are ants, but they did not bother us! Have a nice stay! By the way, I completely agree with the previous big review, everything is correct.

This hotel needs to be prepared in advance. I am not a whimsical person, but it took me a whole day to recover from the shock after seeing the number, but on the second day the shock passed, we put things in order, hung our additional lock on the doors. This recommendation to everyone choosing this hotel. There is nowhere to store money there, a safe at the reception, an iron box right in sight, I was afraid to put it there, I decided it was better to hang a second lock on the doors of the room, they still don’t know how to clean, there’s nothing to let them into the room.

The linen was asked to be changed only twice in 15 days, they brought the same dirty, I decided it was better to sleep on the same one, they also asked us to clean the room in front of us, the cleaners filled up with a whole team and began to rub the floors with dirty rags. We decided to deal with this problem ourselves. The rest is all right. The hotel in the center of North GOA, near the sea, is very conveniently located to get to all parts of GOA, markets, beaches, discos. Who does not like noise and din, you are not here, when leaving the hotel in the evening, there are traffic jams from cars, in general - this is the center. The plus of this hotel is the evenings from the chef and live music, wherever we ate, in our hotel we were fed the best. Especially the menu from the chef on the grill. From the excursions we went on elephants, there is nothing to do there, to the spice plantation and Hampi, but you need to leave Hampi for at least two days. Whoever is interested, I will tell you how cheap and very interesting it is to go to Hampi. Bottom line: I will not return to this hotel, but it is quite possible to live.

In terms of money, they only went for kopeck pieces, stopped at this hotel, read reviews, etc. We flew from Domodedovo, evening flight - very good. conveniently. I met the Pegasus company, also without problems, there was a bus right there, a bottle of water in hand and go! By the way, even there, at the airport, some Indian asked for money, stipulating that rubles can also be, strange, right? Well, we gave ten each))) Beira Mar.

By the way, even there, at the airport, some Indian asked for money, stipulating that rubles can also be, strange, right? Well, we gave ten each))) Beira Mar.....We settled right there, without any greens, not a hint! Maybe it was the end of the season. . . Of the Russians in the hotel, only the two of us. One room overlooking the pool, the second on the meadow, which my friend refused and I lived there, which I did not regret for a day, quietly - quietly. The room is wonderful and the air con and ceiling fan worked well. Shower - toilet... a large room, there is even a special tap to rinse your feet from the sand when you come from the beach. To the beach, min. 10, it’s not at all tiring, though it’s a little more difficult to get back))) bakes, and even uphill, but nothing... The beach is clean, everything is friendly. Order juice in a sheke (cafe) and at least lie all day on their sunbeds, as it happened that you went to only one place "carbina", they had breakfast and lunch and drank evening coffee when they came to sunset. We only had breakfast at the hotel a couple of times. There are no problems with food at all, you can eat at every corner, and the prices are generally symbolic. Do not be stingy to give a tip, well, at least 20 rupees. We ate all day, and the bill was paid in the evening and we were not deceived even once. The sea is very, very warm, but there was a receding wave, I also thought that it could only be in April, and someone said that there is no calm at all....Beach - Baga, in the mornings (I saw it myself) workers go and picking up trash! On the beach, merchants will offer you a lot and sometimes intrusively, do not get angry with them and do not get annoyed, say "leiter - later"
and never promise to buy if you don’t intend to, they take everything at face value. You know how cute they are, smiling... For some reason, they love to shake hands very much, at first it was funny to us, then we got used to it. Well....we only ate seafood, we ordered all sorts of different things, for breakfast the omelet was very tasty, the beer was decent... we ordered tequila a couple of times. We bought a local SIM card, for 800 rupees (600 rubles) you will talk to the house every day for 2 weeks min. 10 each. Cheap communication. You don’t need to change money at the airport, the exchange rate is bad, change it at the hotel, then at every turn. A cheap taxi, you also need to negotiate, you can go somewhere for the whole day. You will understand the place..... I wish you all a GREAT holiday!
