There are many construction sites on the island, many obscure ruins. But exotic nature overshadows everything)
I read a lot of reviews and couldn't decide on a hotel. And thanks to the experienced experts of Turpravda ollennka and V. A. S. , I still chose the Holiday Villa hotel
I did not lose, the hotel is a little aged, but clean, quiet and comfortable)
Or rather, family and comfortable.
Settled quickly and efficiently. They took a deposit of 500 ringgit and a tourist tax of 143 ringgit for three. Organized the 2018 meeting dinner. (we paid for it at home)
All the staff speak English, which is not bad at all. Always responsive and attentive to all questions of vacationers.
THANKS to the hotel staff - the New Year's holiday was great! )
The territory was beautifully decorated (right on the street), tables and chairs were dressed up with snow-white tablecloths, decorated with flowers, they were given a box with crackers, pipes and carnival glasses. The buffet was bursting with gourmet dishes and seafood, a lamb was cooked on a spit, there was a lot of everything and it was delicious. They called for ice cream by ringing a bell! Idea, because it's hot outside)
They organized a concert with colorful dances and live music. And at 12 (their time) they surprised me with colorful fireworks right on the beach! ) Everything was thought out for a good holiday! )
Breakfasts are varied, always a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, there was enough food and space for everyone.
Our room was Superior for three, spacious, but again, the closet, very small, no shelves, only hangers. Water gave out 2 bottles of 1.5 liters, the room has everything you need.
Housekeeping, above all praise! ) Cleanliness and order.
The location of the hotel, I would say, is excellent, a little away from the main Cenang beach, which is beautiful in the photo, but in fact, like a huge market. . .
Let's go back to the hotel beach. There is a bar that serves drinks and snacks all day long. The price tag is about 2 times more expensive than across the street from the hotel. Seafood is overpriced everywhere, it's not clear why...
The sea without waves, the water is very warm (surprisingly for January)
Sun loungers are good, towels can be changed at any time of the day.
And of course, a bunch of cigarette butts in the sand under the sun loungers (
This, of course, is the fault of the tourists, but the cleaning is not very good, and there are no ashtrays.
The beach seems to be public, but far from the tourist center, strangers sometimes come in, but the guards immediately urge you not to take sun loungers and keep order.
The biggest drawback of the beach is sewage flowing directly into the sea from the nearest construction site, residential buildings and restaurants (((
Near the hotel there are many restaurants and shops, exchange offices are also not far away. Change the currency with them (the rate is lower at the hotel), purchases can only be made for ringgits. There are Duty Free shops in the center, good selection and prices. Alcohol and cigarettes according to the passport. Near the Oceanarium.
We walked, but you can also take a taxi for 15 riggit. Taxi prices are stable, do not cheat, which is very nice.
A half hour drive from the hotel to the sky bridge and amusement park, a must see!
Thanks to the Internet, and to the guide Sanjar (there are coordinates), we went with him on an excursion "mangrove forest". The nature is wonderful, we fed monkeys, eagles, visited a fish farm, watched bats in the caves. Everyone liked it very much! )
And to spite the airline and the tour operator (after all the troubles), we rested and gained emotions. We liked Malaysia, with its heat, exoticism, smiling and very pleasant people! )
We were on Langavi Island in February 2008, the weather was varied, both the sun and the rain, in short, as always in the tropics. The hotel is located near the beach, consists of several three-story buildings connected into one building. We had a room on the third floor at the very end of the corridor, next to the stairs, going down which you go out onto the path to the beach. The architecture is such that, being on the balcony of your room, you do not see any of the neighbors, triangular ledges. The walls of the building are braided with vines, there is an abundance of vegetation, even on the balcony you have such your own flower bed with bougainvillea (sometimes I watered it myself, something just grows - you need to water it! ). The room is large, comfortable, and given that the three of us flew from Siberia with the appropriate winter clothes, everything fit perfectly in the closets. A kettle, cups, regularly replenished stocks of tea and instant coffee are available, a refrigerator is also in place.
About breakfast. If it is possible to take tickets without breakfast, then it is better to use it - three steps from the hotel there is a street where restaurants with a wide variety of cuisines are in abundance. These are our personal troubles, but the Malaysian cuisine seemed to us boring, sugary-tasteless (! ), My guys ate pancakes for breakfast at the hotel, I tried to make a vegetable salad with olives - there was a whole tureen of butter with olives. But maybe things have changed for the better since then.
Beach. Glorious, sandy, gentle. Hunting was only for sunbeds near the bar - they are in the shade from the trees. The sea is wonderful in the morning, but in the afternoon something was biting, I called it "biting plankton" because I could not see the enemy. It seems that this phenomenon depends on the season.
Swimming pool. Until seven in the evening, later they will ask you not to disturb the routine, although the depth is nonsense, 1.30, it seems. Nearby is a "paddling pool" for kids and a jacuzzi, carcasses that way for seven or eight. Judging by the information arrow, there is a special pool "for ladies" somewhere under the roof, my guys drove me there for reconnaissance, but somehow I did not get ready. Apparently, this is for Muslim ladies, of whom there were in abundance, moreover, from countries with orders much stricter than in Malaysia. Curiosity still gnaws at me to this day, as a lady had breakfast with her face completely covered with this rag. In the usual pool only once splashed madam in full dress, apparently, did not read the sign in the lobby in time. Compatriots met at the hotel, no revelry was noticed.
Taxi. Prices are strictly fixed. In hotels, large stores, prices for routes hang, drivers amaze with the amazing accuracy with which they carry riders. A friend who worked in Malaysia for about five years said that at one time, in connection with the complaints of tourists about taxi drivers, the state took this matter under very strict control, apparently, we "reaped its benefits", we liked it! : ) By taxi we got to interesting points on the map of the island - a cable-stayed bridge with a cable car, the capital town of Kuah, etc. A wonderful tour of the mangroves booked at the hotel.
A stone's throw from the hotel there is a shop and a rental office, the prices were quite moderate, but you need to remember that the traffic is left-handed, the Indians cope with it, of course, but the Europeans sometimes "stupid" at the crossroads.
Before the Aquarium and Duty Free, they calmly walked for twenty to twenty-five minutes. The aquarium can be interesting only for penguins in a two-story pavilion, that is, you go down in a glass corridor and see how this bird swims cheerfully under water. There's this amazing variety of penguins with long yellow brow feathers! In the rest - so, entertain the children.
In general, the hotel is comfortable, quiet, no complaints about the staff.
Photos can be viewed in my album.
Spacious rooms, the room has a full bath, not a shower. Excellent breakfasts.
Democratic prices for accommodation.
