Stayed at the hotel “Melia Salinas” Costa Teguise (Lanzarote) from 12 to 20 August 2015, as part of a summer vacation in the Canary Islands from 12 to 25 August 2015. The second part of the vacation, from August 20 to 25, took place on about. Fuerteventura, in Morro Jable, at the Riu Jandia Palace Hotel. From Lanzarote (Playa Blanca) to Fuertevernura (Corralejo) traveled by ferry Fred Olsen.
On Lanzarote, they flew from Kyiv (Zhulyany) via Bracelona back from Fuerteventura via Barç a to Kyiv on Vueling. In general, in the Canary Islands for the second time (last year we were in Fuerteventura - there is a review on this site).

ROOM IN MELIA.

We had a Premium Sea View room. Even when booking (through the official website), I asked for a room in a quiet part of the hotel (away from bars, restaurants and the pool) and on a higher floor. All my wishes were fully satisfied - the room was on the last, 4th floor, in the left wing of the building, the balcony overlooked The Level part of the territory, where it is very quiet and calm.
In addition, the day before check-in, I did an independent on-line check-in, so upon arrival at the hotel, I didn’t have to stand in line, but go to the Premium counter. Everything was ready there, and the whole settlement took us about 5 minutes.
The rooms at the Premium Sea View Hotel are already after renovation, that is, in a new design. However, the best that was from the previous design, they left, namely: all the doors and wardrobe are made of natural wood, the floor in the room and the dressing room is made of marble.
The room has: 2 double wide and comfortable beds that could be moved together, with a lot of different pillows! If you put the appropriate sign on the bed, then the bed linen will be changed on the same day, if not put - in a day. In addition, the room has a coffee table, 2 armchairs, a good spacious wardrobe made of natural wood, a TV on the wall (no Russian-language channels).
Also in the room there is a kettle, cups and various tea / coffee fillers, which were periodically updated by the staff.
In the bathroom, since our room was on the top floor, there was a small window in the ceiling, so during the day it was not even necessary to turn on the light in the bathroom. The toilet and bidet are separated from the bathroom by a natural wood sliding door. Towels of different sizes in good quality, bathrobes with slippers, various bathroom amenities in bottles were present (and updated as they were used). The room also includes beach towels (no deposit required) which can be changed by the pool every day until 4pm.
Free high-speed wi-fi throughout the hotel! Safe as far as I remember at no extra charge (but not sure).

What I didn't like was the air conditioning of the room: the built-in old air conditioner, which did not air much, except if you turn it on at full noisy power. Since the weather in Lanzarote was not too hot in mid-August, we only used this air conditioner a couple of times during the day, and at night we always slept with the door to the balcony open to hear the sound of the ocean!

The territory of the hotel is a separate poetry, one might say so! The hotel was designed by Cesar Manrique a long time ago (I think somewhere in the late 70s of the last century), and outwardly the building looks somewhat outdated, but the feeling of the hand of the great Spanish artist and sculptor in the interior of the hotel is white paths interspersed with dark volcanic stones, a lot of greenery - you can feel it alive! We love this style! The territory is large enough. Huge beautiful and deep pool (up to 1.90 m). T. to.
the hotel is more focused on adults (very few children were seen, nothing is provided for them in the hotel - no animation, no playgrounds), then peace and quiet. Once a day at 12:00 animation for adults starts in the pool (aqua aerobics, aqua cardio, etc. ). There are always enough people who want to participate, and you even have to sign up for aqua-cardio in advance! On one of the days near the pool there was an hour-long performance of a magician (I was surprised when he, in the course of the performance, choosing vacationers to “assist” him, inviting me, spoke to me in pure Russian)). There are a lot of sun loungers near the pool, they are also somewhat old, but very comfortable (they are laid out 180 degrees and with soft mattresses). However, in order to take the best places, vacationers still practice booking sunbeds with towels before breakfast.
However, if you go to the beach not by 12 noon, you can find free sunbeds, but good places will be occupied. The pool area also has a jacuzzi area (at some elevation and for adults only from 10:00). Of the two hot tubs, only one was always working! We warmed up there a couple of times. It was interesting to lie in the jacuzzi and look at the ocean behind the glass.

BEACH AND OCEAN
The hotel is located on the first line and, therefore, leaving the gate (only by cards; there are two of them (gates) in different places of the pool area) you immediately find yourself near the ocean.

Directly near the hotel there is an equipped beach with several rows of sun loungers and stationary umbrellas (all for a fee), a little to the left next to the breakwater - just sand, where you can easily lay out your bedding and put up an umbrella or a beach tent. In this part the ocean is calm, without waves. Right behind the breakwater - cool waves!
Going a little to the right of the hotel (literally 3-5 minutes) - there are 2 large equipped beaches of Costa Teguise. However, it must be borne in mind that there are ebbs. We rested from August 12 to 20, and the tide was low in the morning - the stones were well exposed (you can see this in the photo), it was possible to enter the ocean only from the main beach of Costa Teguise. By noon, the water was rising, and by 12:00 it was possible to fully swim or jump on the waves.
Since the hotel is only a couple of tens of meters from the ocean, we sunbathed near the pool, and went out to swim in the ocean and jump on the waves just in swimsuits, without taking any towels and bedding with us - everything is very close. Very comfortably!
The weather during our stay was changeable: always in the morning (we woke up at 8:00) the sky was densely covered with clouds, but by 10:00 the clouds dissipated, the sun peeked out, so sunbathing was very comfortable, and it even happened that it was hot.
But there was no particular heat, as well as wind. The water in the ocean was very comfortable - 22-23 degrees. It was very nice to swim!

FOOD: restaurants and bars.
We ate half board. Breakfasts and dinners at the hotel according to the "buffet" system are always plentiful and varied. Even for breakfast, I chose something new every day. Traditionally, at dinner (every evening there were some thematic corners, and in the form of waiters there was an emphasis on the same theme! ) All drinks are paid. In the morning, you can order coffee and tea from the waiter, they serve very quickly, or go to a special coffee and tea corner and make different coffee and teas on your own. The main restaurant is big. You can eat indoors or outdoors. You can also use the ala carte service by registering at the reception in advance (as far as I remember, during our stay there were 2 times when you could go there for free).

The difference is clear: here the waiters served and the dishes were served in a beautiful performance, but it was more pretentious, as always in such places, and the kitchen is the same.
The pool area has a standard beach bar with a good selection. We were all recorded on the number (did not see anyone paying on the spot). Everything is fair! Since when booking a room through the hotel website, a bonus of 15 euros per day / room is provided at the expense of the hotel for various services, when checking out we paid an additional bill for drinks only about 6 euros for everything, and used the bar (without alcohol) daily (coffee, ice cream, cocktails). In the evening we always ordered different drinks (no alcohol - we don't drink it at all).

TERRITORY NEAR THE HOTEL.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of Costa Teguise. After it, there are only 2 more hotels along the coast. Deep into the village there are many hotels and apartments on the 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th line (but even for them everything is close, because
Costa Teguise is a small and comfortable village for vacationers). I chose the hotel according to this principle, so that not in the center, where there are many bars, shops, but also within walking distance to them. In this regard, Melia Salinas turned out to be a 100% hit.
Opposite the hotel there is a HiperDino supermarket (open until 22:00) with an excellent selection of products (we only bought water there, 2 liters - 1 euro). To the right of the hotel, just outside its territory, there is a small shopping center, where, again, the HiperDino supermarket (open until 23:00) and many different shops with a traditional assortment for vacationers: things, souvenirs, goods for children and the beach. There are several rental cars. There are also several eateries and a playground on site.
Opposite the hotel, walk a quarter, a small water park and an aquarium, + various shops.
Along the promenade, there are also a lot of different restaurants, shops, and closer to the other end of the village and deep into it, there are a lot of good shops, both clothing and perfumery (it is clear that the perfume theme is a special theme for the Canary Islands! ).

Immediately outside the hotel there is a bus stop (movement, according to the schedule, hangs there) and a taxi rank (cars are always standing! ).
There is a large free car park in front of the hotel. There were always a lot of cars, but we always managed to find a place to park. As we saw later, walking near the hotel, on the left outside the hotel there is a very large, almost empty parking lot. There is no crime in Lanzarote, so in the absence of a parking space in front of the hotel, you can safely park the car around the corner.
Traditionally for our family, lying on the beach / by the pool is not our option.
A reasonable mix of lazy and active rest is our theme, so we rented a car (for 5 days) at the Cicar office (in Lanzarote it is called Medina Carera, if I'm not mistaken, but the logo is the same as Cicar). From the hotel to the rental office it was necessary to walk a couple of blocks of 10-15 minutes. With the car this time, we can safely say that we were very lucky! I booked through the website of the Seat Ibiza Automat office, and in the end I got for the same money - a black Volvo sedan with a light leather interior and everything (even the parking sensors that display the position of the car on the on-board computer were present), which, as I later looked at them website, was 4 times more expensive than ordered Seat? . The diesel engine is also lucky here! Wonderfully departed the planned program on a first-class car!

Bottom line: rest in Melia Salinas were 100% satisfied. We really liked the village of Costa Teguise - small, but cozy. If you can visit again.
If you have additional questions about the hotel, the area nearby, I will be happy to answer.
