We spent 2 wonderful weeks at California Palace in mid-August with two children (4.5 and 8 years old) - we were delighted with the hotel, the resort, and the whole country.
The tour was bought in TA "Azaria" (as always -5+ to the agency !!! ). The tour operator is “Pegas”, the organization is at a good level: a week before departure, we received a full package of documents; aircraft - Boeing-737-800, one of the newest in the UIA fleet; departure-arrival on schedule; at the airport we were met by a representative of the operator, almost immediately we left Barcelona for Salou, on the way we received all the basic information. Excursions were bought from a hotel guide, because. the difference with the prices of the Plan BUS turned out to be minimal - 1-2 euros. We went on a sightseeing tour to Barcelona (25 euros) and shopping in Andorra (27 euros). If there were no children, then it was worth considering "Nice + Monaco + Monte Carlo" or some two-day tour in Spain itself.
Settlement at the hotel took about 15 minutes - fill out the registration card and pay the tourist tax.

Standard room - absolutely standard, sorry for the tautology: two beds pushed together, a sofa and + we had a folding bed; two bedside tables, table, chair, TV, refrigerator (extra charge). The air conditioner is powerful, it is regulated from the room, provided that the card is inserted into the slot (leaving the room, they left the usual discount card from the home supermarket in it to cool the room).
There is a large closet in the hallway. It has a pay safe. We did not take, because. According to reviews, there are no thefts in the hotel. In fact, I will say that I was completely convinced of the veracity of what was written before us.
The bathroom has a hair dryer, a bidet, a normal-sized bathtub, an optical mirror, bottles of shampoo and gel, and soap. Towels were changed daily, bed linen -2 times.
Cleaning is normal, tips left 1-2 euros.
Meals: we had a "Full Board" and in fact I can say that with children it turns out to be more profitable than going to a cafe, although the prices in Salou are quite reasonable.
Cooking at the hotel is excellent and very varied. Breakfasts, of course, became boring in 2 weeks, but lunches and dinners just ran my eyes wide. A lot of fruits, all kinds of seafood and meat of all kinds: pork, beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, duck, rabbit. Salads dear to our hearts - from the traditional Russian salad to the jamon-melon mix.
Desserts - a separate line, insanely delicious flan and panna cot, pies, cakes... Drinks are free only at breakfast. At lunch and dinner - water and sweet soda for 2 euros, wine - from 11 euros.
Service at the hotel is up to standard, the staff is friendly and helpful. There are two Russian-speaking girls at the reception, 2-3 waitresses in the restaurant also speak Russian. Everyone speaks English.
Walk 10 minutes to the sea along a busy shopping street.
The sea is wonderful, warm and very clean, with golden sand. The beach is municipal. Everyone writes about the high cost of sunbeds and umbrellas, the easiest way is to just buy it.
There are many interesting and noteworthy places in Salou itself (one Port Aventura is worth it, we spent 2 days on it and it would not hurt the same amount), + from here you can go around half of Catalonia by bus or train.
