Rested at the ROYAL SUN hotel for 2 weeks in July 2008. Almost the only big plus of this hotel is the location right on the beach (50 meters from the sea) and also the price / quality ratio. A ticket for 3 people (2 adults, 1 child 12 years old) together with the flight cost 3.000 euros! Although the 4 * hotel clearly does not pull either in numbers, or in territory, or in service. But first things first. Location of the hotel on the beach, right in the center of the town of Santa Susanna, train stop 10min. walk. Across the road is a promenade with a large number of shops and market stalls that open from 6 pm and sell mostly souvenirs. Supermarket Carefur, where you can buy almost everything, and much cheaper than in the shops of the tourist area - 10min. from hotel. Barcelona can be reached by train in 1 hour. ticket price 3.2 euros, to Port Aventura in 3 hours. on a special bus, or in 2.5 hours. by train, but with a transfer. Also in Santa Susanna there are discos, casinos, recreation parks.
The territory of the hotel itself is tiny, however, like many other hotels in Spain, 1 restaurant (buffet), 2 bars (in the hotel and on the street), 2 small pools (1 of them is a paddling pool), a small playground for small children and that is all. There are no shops on site, but there is Internet access. All rooms are located in building 1.75% of them with sea views, almost all rooms have a side sea view, but it is enough. For a sea view nothing extra paid and did not ask. All rooms have a fairly spacious balcony. The room itself is small, but the necessary furniture is in good condition - beds, a table with chairs, bedside tables, a wardrobe, air conditioning, which by the way works at any time and at night too, even when you are not in the room you can leave it on, very convenient. The bathroom is quite spacious, there is a bath, bidet, hair dryer, plumbing is new. But there is a problem - there seems to be no ventilation in the bathroom at all or it is very bad, so sometimes it was simply impossible to enter the bathroom, you had to open the door to the balcony to ventilate. Yes, there was a refrigerator, it is also a mini-bar and a TV with one Russian channel - ORT.
Service: the room was cleaned daily, mostly after 10 am, when we were on the beach, there were no complaints about cleaning, no tip was left. Towels were also changed every day, there were also soap, gels, shampoos, though the maids did not want to replenish their number for some reason. The maids practically do not speak English, they had to explain themselves by signs. There are no Russian-speaking staff at the reception, one of the administrators knows a certain number of Russian words, that's all, however, for those who know English or German, there will be no problems at the reception. In general, it seems that it would be possible to put the hotel for service 4, if not for a few BUT. Firstly, the checkout time in all hotels in Spain is 10:00, we had a bus to the airport at 12:30, we asked to extend the room for 2 hours and received a categorical refusal, including not agreeing to move us to these 2 hours to another free room. Even $ did not solve anything, although in other hotels in Spain the number could be extended for free, not to mention other countries, such as Turkey or Greece, where there were no such problems. Secondly, in the hotel lobby there was always an unbearable smell of bleach, mixed with fragrances, which the maids generously sprayed every day, this is the question of ventilation. I don’t understand, is it really impossible to make a normal sewer once in a 4 * hotel ?? ? Thirdly, in the restaurant during lunch and dinner, you had to stand in line at the bar for drinks, although in other 4 * hotels drinks are served by waiters.

There were no sports at the hotel or on the beach. No gym, volleyball, football, tennis courts, etc. There was only a pool table (pool) in the bar for $ and a tennis table. On the beach, you could ride a banana, a scooter, fly a parachute behind a boat, that's about all.
Meals - we took FB +, i. e. Full board with drinks during lunch and dinner. The food is of high quality, quite tasty, but monotonous, there were always 4-5 meat dishes - pork, beef, turkey, fish. There was practically no seafood except for fish, 2 times in 2 weeks we were cooked mussels and that was it. Vegetables - were, although the lack of fresh cucumbers was sometimes surprising. There are many fruits - apples, pears, bananas, peaches, pineapples, watermelons, melons were every day. Salads are very few 2-3. There are pastries, but less and less tasty than in Turkey. Ice cream - every day for lunch and dinner. The breakfast buffet was very poor, except for scrambled eggs and ham and cheese, and there was nothing to eat. Drinks - free juices (from bottles), cola, mineral water, local draft beer (undiluted and good in taste), wine from barrels (red, pink and white - I recommend). Other drinks for $. There were always empty seats in the restaurant, there were no queues, sometimes only for drinks, which I wrote about above.
The sea near the hotel is excellent, the water is clean, especially in the morning, the entrance to the sea is good, although it is already deep after 5 meters from the shore. The beach of the hotel is municipal, like all beaches in Spain, but clean, coarse sand. Sun loungers and umbrellas for 5 euros. But sunbeds are not needed, and umbrellas can be bought at the nearest store for 10 euros. There are a lot of people, but you can always find a place, especially if you come before 10:00. Or go along the coast for 50-100m.
There seem to be animators in the hotel, but I have never seen them, in general, no one will entertain you except yourself. Evening shows in the hotel bar are NO, it is better to go to neighboring hotels or to a disco in Santa Susanna.

Mostly Russians, Germans, British, Poles lived in the hotel. There are many elderly couples and families with children, there are practically no younger ones. And finally, about the operator Tez Tour, through which we took a ticket. Met normally, transfer from the airport 1.5-2 hours, but the bus does not drive up to the hotel, you have to go with things across the road, although the buses of other operators drive up without problems. The guide at the hotel only sells excursions, and without bothering to talk about them, don’t expect any other information about the hotel, Spain, Barcelona from him, and by the way, he doesn’t give his mobile number either, you have to call the office for all questions. I recommend that you go to Barcelona yourself, get off the train on Plaza Catalunya, buy a ticket for a tourist bus and go around all of Barcelona, you can go out as many times as you like per day. You can also travel on foot, everything interesting is located in the city center. You can also move around the city by electric trains, tickets - 1.3 euros, very fast and inexpensive, BUT BEWARE OF PICKPICKPICK PACKERS, THERE ARE VERY MANY OF THEM, TO STAY WITHOUT MONEY IS VERY EASY! I recommend visiting the Gothic quarter, seeing Gaudí 's houses, going to Park Gü ell, walking along La Rambla to the promenade, going to the Aquarium and the Zoo. You can also have time to see the fountains yourself, the performance starts at 21.30. The last train to Santa Susanna is at 22.30, it takes 15 minutes to get to the station. fast step. Of the excursions, I recommend Montserat, there is probably no bullfighting - a rather difficult sight and it is unlikely that you will sit out to the end. Knightly tournament - the show itself is interesting and then the Flamenco dances, very professional. And of course, PortAventura, you have to go there for the whole day - you are guaranteed to enjoy it!
It seems to be all, summary - the hotel has a good price / quality ratio, excellent location on the beach, normal food, cons - see above.
Good luck!
