Pension Mihlton Barcelona

So, the cruise is over, ahead of 3 days in Barcelona. The taxi driver brought us to the hotel.
Booked as always on booking:
http://www. booking. com/hotel/es/mihlton-barcelona. de.html? aid=202008; sid=9358ab7...»

Originally booked 3 nights for 297.00 euros with breakfast and free cancellation, no other options. Periodically I monitored this hotel, but everything was unchanged. And only in mid-January, another offer appeared: the price for 3 nights on our dates with non-cancellable reservations became 187.00 euros. This was a week before the cruise. After thinking, thinking, it seems that the trip should take place, I booked this hotel again, but of course at the last, more attractive price, and then canceled the first reservation.
I wrote a letter to the hotel that we would have an early check-in, and that we would like a room with a balcony and a street view. I received an answer that they will try to fulfill our wishes.

Location and description of the hotel

In my opinion, it’s very successful, you can walk to some sights, the Diagonal metro is nearby, and on the other side of the street there is some other metro, also nearby, but we didn’t use it. Bus stop is also nearby. Plaza Catalunya is a 15 minute walk. In this regard, we were satisfied with everything.

The hotel is very small, rooms 7 or 8 in total, located on the 2nd floor of a very old house. The taxi driver drove us to the house with number 231, there is no sign of the hotel anywhere, as it was described in the reviews. Reviews on booking are true. Large glass doors, we pass through them and find ourselves in the hall of an old house with a large, wide light staircase. A little further back, behind a glass wall, sits a concierge/watchman. We asked where is the hotel? "On the 2nd floor, but you have suitcases, you'd better take the elevator, " came the answer in Spanish. Of course, we understood everything, because he came out of his room and pointed us to the elevator. The elevator is something!
That's all: the front entrance, and the janitor, and the elevator, I saw only in films about old times. The elevator is all visible, as if from a chain-link mesh. In the elevator itself there is not a big bench, first the first door closes, then the second, then we press the button and go, everything is exactly like in the movies. On the second floor there are 2 doors, one of them is our hotel. There is a small sign on the door.

The owner of the hotel greeted us warmly. Speaking of this hotel on booking. com not bad reviews, and the fact that the owner speaks German is also a plus for us, we do not know Spanish. Our room was not ready, but we actually did not need it. "As soon as the room is ready, things will be brought into it, you have nothing to worry about, " we were told. It was also offered to drink tea from the road, but we had no time, and even more so, we had just had breakfast on the ship.
In the meantime, we just left them / things in the corridor, near the so-called reception, consisting of one chest of drawers, and went to look for a basturist stop.

Our room

Quite a large room, 20 meters, maybe more, even for three, 1 bed was 2-bedroom and 1 1-bedroom. The rest, everything is as usual, but the furniture to match the house, the same old. As expected, the room has a balcony and overlooks the street, but they never sat on the balcony, it was cold and there was no time. The doors, it seemed to me, were not plastic, but wooden, because the noise from the street was practically not muffled. But there is no one to complain about here, she herself asked for a room overlooking the street, and there were also rooms overlooking the courtyard, it was probably quiet there.
What was missing in the room was light. In all the nightlights, the bulbs were like milk glass, there was not enough brightness.
Of course, we did not read there, but it was elementary to look at our printouts for the next day, where to go and how to go, it was not comfortable, it was a bit dark.

There was a welcome bottle of mineral water in the room, and the next one was for a fee, but you could buy and bring your own. No TV, internet is fast.
The room was cleaned, but the towels were not changed, somehow strange. Maybe, of course, it was written in the rules, but this time I didn’t even bother to look into the folder.

There is heating in the room, but in my opinion it does not work, the battery was cold all the time. There is an air conditioner that works to heat the air, so it was warm, but I had to constantly turn it on and off, it makes a lot of noise, especially since it is located directly by the bed. We usually "heated" in the evening, and turned it off at night.

The ceilings in the building are high, I asked what was here before?
It turns out that one very rich family lived together with the servants, but now this is not a big hotel.

Service and breakfast

Well, as I already noted, the owner is very attentive and friendly, we asked him to order a taxi for us to the airport, no problem. And so he tries to communicate with his guests, usually during breakfast. Upon arrival, he provides information about the city, etc.

I don't even know what to call the place where we had breakfast. A restaurant, too loud, the word kitchen or dining room is most suitable ...In the direct sense, you can’t even call it a kitchen, because there are no usual cabinets, no stove, no sink ...A large room that is always open. For breakfast, all products, as usual, self-service, very tasty fresh buns were. Free tea and fruit throughout the day. Oh, how it was by the way in the evening. They came tired, frozen, on the way to the hotel they bought some buns, and tea and fruit are always available.
There is also coffee, but the rest of the time, except for breakfast, you had to pay for it. And everything is based on trust, I drank coffee, put some money next to me. Likewise with wine. He poured himself some wine, red/white, and left some money next to it. I don’t know how much it costs, they didn’t use it, but tea in the evening, yes, was most welcome. For us, this was a definite plus of the hotel.

Breakfast starts late, at 9:00 in the morning, but if you have an early exit / departure from the hotel, you need to warn and you will be covered when you need it.

Well, in general terms about the hotel and all. I would not stay there for a long stay, but for 2-3 nights it is quite suitable.

My husband was leaving for a seminar and accidentally took a flash drive with him with some photos of Barcelona, just at the time when I was posting reviews on it. Well, and now my flash drive with the rest of the photos has "arrived".

Palace Guell.
It was not possible to completely remove the facade, because, like the Palace of Catalan Music, it is located on a narrow street. I already went into the gateway, but it didn’t work out. And then the facade of this house, unlike other creations of Gaudi, is simpler, there are no bright colors, almost no sculptures.
From the Palace itself, as it turned out, there are not very many photographs either, now I have removed half of it: sometimes blurry, sometimes dark, sometimes reflected from the windows, and then I’m still a specialist photographer from me.
Well, as you know, this palace was built by order of Gü ell, who later almost turned Gaudi into his family architect. Encouraged all his creative ideas and did not limit the budget of his buildings.

"During the construction of the Guell Palace in Barcelona, Gaudi was also not limited in funds. In the design of the building, he used a wide variety of materials, giving preference to the highest quality and most expensive, such as marble.

Gaudí was clear that Gü ell's main motive was to impress his acquaintances with luxury, and therefore he developed an unusual project, the architecture of which was so rich in content and beauty that the word "palace" turned out to be the most adequate description for it. ( from the Internet)

The interiors, as I have already noted, are practically unfurnished so that tourists are not distracted from the architecture. And the original furniture from the palace is owned by the heirs of Eusebio Gü ell.

The back facade of the house/palace faces the inner courtyard. And lattices of movable plates, and wooden blinds, which were arranged so as not to embarrass the inhabitants of the neighboring monastery, and a lattice canopy, all this was installed by Gaudi himself.
Well, in conclusion, a few more photos of the cactus garden, or as it is properly called: the gardens of Mossen Costa and Llobera Jardins de Costa i Llobera, named after the poet Mikel Costa y Llobera.

"In Jardins de Moss? n Costa i Llobera, unlike other gardens in Spain, exotic plants predominate, palm trees of non-Spanish origin grow here, but cacti and other succulents are a special pride of this park - there are more than 800 species of them, collected from all over the world brought from the arid and desert regions of Africa, America, Australia. In the warm and humid fertile climate of Spain, these plants feel great. Some of them are over 200 years old. Some reach gigantic sizes and are covered with impressive thorns, for example, Echinocacti Grusonii, which are inhabitants Barcelona is jokingly called "mother-in-law's chairs" (from the Internet)

That's all about the cruise and Barcelona.
