Hello, dear friends, like-minded people and travelers!
I want to share my impressions about my 21st vacation in Egypt, the 9th in Sharm El Sheikh. Previously, in Egypt, rested in hotels from 3 * to 5 *.

We rested at the DREAMS BEACH RESORT hotel together with my husband from 15.11. 2018 to 24.11. 2018 Sorry, but the review will be subjective based on previous vacation experience and very detailed, because there were many different nuances.
Choice of hotel: We chose Sharm el-Sheikh specifically to fulfill our old dream - to climb Mount Moses and visit the monastery of St. Catherine. There were many problems with the choice of a hotel, the ratings of those hotels that had been visited earlier dropped too much, and the choice of hotels with normal operators became rather limited. Having read in one review that you can meet manta rays off the coast of DREAMS BEACH RESORT, we made our choice in his favor, because the sea is a paramount criterion for us.

Transfer: Flight Kyiv - Sharm El Sheikh, Azur Air airlines, 1 hour delay, normal flight.
Transfer to the hotel about 30 minutes. We were already at the hotel late in the evening. We were immediately sent to dinner. Dinner was quite poor in choice, but we chalked it up to the fact that it was getting late and the restaurant was closing.

Number: previously contacted the hotel administration, asked for a room on the second floor in specific buildings. In response, they promised to make every effort to fulfill our request.
The receptionist at check-in said that a room on the first floor was ready for us, that is, no agreements were taken into account, but we nevertheless insisted on the second floor.
We were given room 2002 on the second floor. The room is small, cozy, with a partial distant sea view, but dirty!!!! ! I found a pubic hair in the safe when the beds were moved, there were mountains of dust under the nightstand, mirrors in dust, on the balcony a table and chairs were hidden under a thick layer of dirt, a palm print on the trash can, mold in the bathroom, but the “cherry on the cake” turned out to be a brush for toilet cleaning.
It was completely smeared with brown mass, moreover, the heartbreaking smell testified that, unfortunately, it was not chocolate at all. There was no hot water. The refrigerator did not work, but for us it was critical, because, taking into account the reviews about poor food at the hotel, we brought with us a piece of smoked brisket and 2 cans of caviar. We turned to the reception with a request to either wash this room or give it already washed with hot water and a refrigerator. They said that they would wash it, repair it, and if it doesn’t suit you, then you need to come in the morning. We went for a walk. Upon returning, they saw that the floor had been washed in the bathroom. And that's it!! ! Here is the first impression.

In the morning we came to meet the Anex guide. He spoke beautifully about friendship and love for our tourists, after that he gave a price list for excursions with prices 2 times higher than those of street agencies. After comparing the prices, we decided that we would not be friends with him. Took 1.5 hours of rest.
We did not buy anything from him, but instead went to the reception to solve the problem with the number. At the reception was the guest relations manager Irina, with whom we had previously written off about the room. She was surprised that during the check-in all our preliminary wishes were ignored.
We were given another room 1804, also on the second floor with a good sea view. The room was the same as the previous one, only much cleaner. To make sure that everything suits us, the manager came. Everything works in the room, the furniture is in good condition, there is a kettle, tea bags, coffee, sugar, cream. Water is replenished daily, 1 large bottle per room. On the balcony there are 2 chairs and a table, as standard. The bathroom is not big, sink, toilet, bidet, bath. The brush is clean))) Cosmetics were not spared here: soap, shower gel, shampoo, hair conditioner, body balm. Everything was replenished on time.
There was a TV, there were a couple of Russian and Ukrainian channels. Thanks to the cleaner, I cleaned it efficiently, I changed towels and bedding, I was always wondering if everything was fine.
The first 3 days we were put to sleep by the managers. No, don't laugh, it's not what you might think, it's just that the room key card was demagnetized. During the day it still worked, but in the evening it didn't. I had to call the reception, there is a telephone in the corridor. The manager came with a new card, opened the door, wished good night. Maybe it's a special service, I don't know. This went on for 3 days. On the 4th, when trying to open the door, the system "hung" and the door began to squeak all over the building. 2 managers have already arrived, they offered to change the room in the morning, but we just asked to fix the lock. The battery was changed, there were no more problems with the card.
Separately, I would like to say about soundproofing, I sleep very sensitively, for me this is important.

You can't hear your neighbors in the rooms, but you can hear a lot from the hallway. The doors close with a bang. We came to the room at about 23-00, fell asleep, half an hour later some neighbors came, the door closed with a roar, I woke up. Just starting to fall asleep, another neighbor returned, a roar, woke up. And so somewhere until 4 am. And there are neighbors who sleep soundly and get up early. And again the roar. Something needs to be done about the doors. Sleep is a vital necessity. A sleepy guest is an evil guest.
The territory of the hotel: the territory is simply huge, if you also consider that you can use the territory of the neighboring hotel. On the territory of two hotels, tourists are driven by a cheerful driver in a colorful Thai-style car. The area is green, clean and very beautiful. The gardeners are doing a good job. There are working fountains and streams. You can visit the "bird paradise" - a mini-zoo with various birds. For territory 5 points.
On the territory of both hotels there are swimming pools with an adult and children's slide, good. There is a pool bar but the pool was not heated and the bar was not open.
Food: I know very well that food in Egypt is often not very tasty for us, but there are pleasant exceptions. Therefore, reading in the reviews that the food is bad, I didn’t pay much attention to this, but I took the smoked brisket and caviar in my suitcase. Here is my subjective opinion based on the experience of 21 visits to Egypt. The food at the hotel is very poor! I don't even know how to explain. It looks like food, but it tastes like food. Eat without appetite, as if throwing firewood into the stove. Many dishes are simply not tasty, improperly prepared. From meat, they ate only grilled chicken, because the rest was not tasty. It happened that for dinner they were left without a side dish: I don’t like rice, there is a huge queue for pasta (the most edible side dish), I take potatoes - they are raw. All kinds of potatoes that I tried in the hotel were not tasty.

From fish - deep-fried pangasius on an ongoing basis. How happy I was when I found grilled mackerel tails. Soups - boiling water with either starch or vegetables. Constant heaviness in the stomach. Activated carbon and "mezim" became sponsors of our holiday. Only the desserts were delicious, but we don't like them. And the queues - huge queues for everything (especially for scrambled eggs and pasta), once stood even for boiled eggs. There is also a grill restaurant on the beach, but there the situation with the choice and queues is even more sad. On the 3rd day, I no longer wanted to go to lunch. There is a bar by the pool, at 16-00 there is a snack, but only sandwiches with Egyptian sausage and vegetables were given for a snack. There weren't even french fries. From the food for me, the most delicious were fruits and ice cream, probably because they were not spoiled by cooking.
Once in 7 days of rest, you can go to each of the 4 Ala Carte restaurants for free. We were in Mexican and Italian.
My husband did not like the Mexican cuisine, almost the same as in the main restaurant, only a different serving. And again pangasius. And I lost my appetite so much that I didn’t even want to try it. We went to the main restaurant and took ice cream and had dinner. Italian is a little better. There was an eggplant appetizer, a tuna appetizer, pasta with sauce, more or less meat, but everything was spoiled by a heavily salted pangasius. The waiter asked me to fill out a questionnaire with an assessment of the restaurant. When we gave 3 points for the dishes, we began to find out the reason, to put pressure on the psyche. I had to fix it by 4 balls to get rid of it.
There is a wonderful chef on the beach who cooks really delicious pancakes. Only thanks to his pancakes with cottage cheese we were full. We went for lunch, ate a piece of chicken and tomatoes, and then ate our fill on the beach. Only thanks to pancakes for food I put 3 points instead of 2.
We were shocked at how much food was being thrown away. By chance, we saw how chefs are preparing preparations for dinner in an Italian restaurant. They took a large eggplant and cut the flesh to the size of a small piece. About half an eggplant was thrown into the trash. And how many tourists are malnourished !! ! First, they collect full plates, then they try, alas, a lot of not tasty dishes, and throw them away. I would suggest hiring a good chef to cook delicious food, then people will waste less food, and with the money saved, the hotel will be able to purchase a larger range of food and drinks.

Alcohol and drinks: I have no illusions about the quality of Egyptian hotel drinks. In reviews of DREAMS BEACH RESORT, they wrote that the drinks were bad. I rode with the willingness that alcohol and drinks would be below average, but tolerable levels. My body has already learned to use a little even Egyptian. I was wrong. Drinks are really bad.
The most delicious hotel drink is water. Everything else is non-alcoholic - only powdered. No coffee machine. Brewed coffee is paid. From instant coffee on the 3rd day it became nauseous. I stopped drinking it, although I like coffee. With alcohol, things are even worse. Wine and beer are drinkable. This does not mean that they are of good quality or simply delicious, just that they are drinkable. Strong alcohol has such a bright chemical taste and smell that even colored chemistry in cocktails does not mask it. I ordered a gin and tonic, sniffed it, my eyes became rhombic, I couldn’t drink. Very strong people can drink it. My body, hardened by Egypt, was not ready for this. Take alcohol with you if you drink. Do not mock the body, it will still be useful to you.
In terms of food and drinks, the hotel fought hard for the first place from the bottom in my personal rating, but did not reach it, the winner has been a permanent winner for 9 years now. But DREAMS BEACH RESORT gets a decent "silver". Sad.
Beach: The hotel's beach is its highlight. The hotel is located on a rock, the beach is located in tiers, like on steps, it looks original. There are a lot of people on the lower tiers, they are very crowded, noisy, loud music plays, on the upper people there are fewer and quieter. After lunch, a shadow falls on the lower floors of the beach and the coral, it becomes cool and the living creatures in the sea are hard to see. You need to go to the pools. You can enter the sea on one of the three pontoons. Sunbeds are a feature of the hotel. Most of the sunbeds are old, dirty and sagging. There are very few mattresses. It is a shame for a 5 * hotel to have such sunbeds.

Sea: beginners and people not spoiled by the rich reefs of the Red Sea will be very interested. There are coral and fish. Be sure to take your masks. But the coral is missing the sun because of the rocks. Therefore, it is faded and there are few fish. We swam for a long time, swims for 3 hours in calm and 2 hours when it was stormy. To the north they sailed beyond the Le Mirage New Tower beach and further, rounded the cape.
You have to lie on dirty sunbeds without towels. Sad for a 5* hotel. Conclusion: either do not hand over towels, or bring your own from home.
Entertainment: animation at a very decent level for Egypt. Presented by an international team and imported evening shows. There were also daytime competitions, dancing, aerobics. Evening competitions organized by animators at a good level, with humor, but without vulgarity. However, I'm used to the fact that animators come up to guests every day and invite them to evening entertainment.
There is live music. Didn't like the repertoire. In general, the hotel has a problem with music. From the terry pop music, my ears just hurt. Do you really think that we are going to the sea to listen to "Chundra-Chuchundra"? Or is this a meeting of the Loboda fan club? On the beach in the afternoon they put on “Lyrical” (a rehash of the Gaza Strip group with an unequivocal vulgar content, and there were children.
And why then with all the creativity of the "Gaza Strip" guests do not acquaint? In general, the impression was that you were not at sea in an exotic country, but at a rural disco in Kukuyevo.
An unpleasant surprise: at the meeting, the guide from Anex Tour joked about towels: when you check in, you must bring to the reception either a card on a towel, or a towel, or a fine (if you lost it), or someone else’s towel (if you lost yours, but don’t pay want to). Alas, there were people who did not understand the joke, and the lack of elementary human decency made it possible to use the “advice” of the guide. On the last day, the sea was calm, we put towels on the sunbeds, put our things and went for a swim. After 3 hours we returned to the sunbeds, one towel was stolen. Such a "surprise" finished off the overall impression. It never occurred to me before that you need to swim in clothes, shoes and with a towel around your neck.

We must pay tribute to the manager at the reception, after reporting the theft, he gave us a new card on the towel. Decent exit.
Excursions: an old dream to meet the sunrise on Mount Sinai has come true! We bought a tour from a "street" agency for $25. USA per person. We were given a flashlight for a couple and a guide. The climb was about 8 km, physically not easy, not everyone will rise. Some can't stand it and hire a camel. Every 500 meters there is a halt equipped as a cafe. You can buy tea, coffee, chocolate, water. There is a place to sit down for a few minutes. The trail ends and comes the penultimate spurt to the last halt - 950 stone steps, of different heights and widths from different stones. At the last halt we spent 1.5 hours. Before dawn, we went up a little more and ended up at the very top of Mount Moses. There we met the birth of a new day. This must be done at least once in your life!
General impression of the hotel: the hotel has a huge potential to become a quality 5 *. And all its shortcomings are easily eliminated, do not require large financial investments, it all depends on the management: carefully control the condition of the rooms and cleaning, hire another chef, organize more varied snacks, buy alcohol normal for the Egyptian level and at least some packaged juices, put a coffee machine , buy a sufficient number of beach towels, and, of course, throw away the sunbeds and buy normal ones, put high-quality locks on the rooms, solve the problem with slamming doors, make the musical accompaniment of the guests' stay at the hotel at least a little more intelligent. Yes, many everyday problems are solved by going to the reception, but why do they arise in such numbers?
Pros: very large and beautiful territory, good service, funny animation, good location, good work of the guest relations manager.
Cons: rooms not checked before check-in, food and alcohol of a very low level, lack of brewed coffee and packaged juices, insufficient number of beach towels, “killed” sunbeds and a large number of other minor household problems.

I can recommend the hotel to beginners and very unpretentious tourists, people on a diet and not drinking, or those who paid quite inexpensively and understood where they were going.
Have a good rest, if you have any questions, write, I will answer!
