We returned from Fantasia at the end of November 2009. A trip from Pegasus. The overall impression is very good. As a realist, I will say that, of course, there are shortcomings, but in the reviews they usually look gloomier than in life.
Currency exchange at the hotel is a problem (only on Mon. and Fri. at the reception), so my advice is to buy a visa at Hurghada airport upon arrival - immediately exchange money in this window. Banks sell visas.
The road from Hurghada to Fantasy took about 4 hours. (From Marsa Alam Airport about an hour) We were ready for this in order to see our neighbor on the beach at a distance of 30m. and not see cars for a week. Well, for the sake of untrodden corals and snork without fear that a boat or scooter will pass over you.

On the way, we stopped at three hotels. Fantasia is the farthest from Hurghada. Then there is another functioning hotel out of sight (in my opinion, some kind of Sol y mar) and a deserted desert for 100 km. There is zero civilization around the hotel. Only the diving center and the Coast Guard building. Divers praise the quality of the services of the diving center. Mostly Italians and Poles who vacation at the hotel are engaged in diving. Shops only in the hotel, everything is 2 times more expensive than at the airport. Marsa Alam is about 30 km away. Regular transport does not run. It is almost a kilometer to drive along the palm alley to the highway, and it is difficult to count on a ride - there is not so much transport. Taxi 30 euros round trip. To the airport 35 euros one way. We didn’t go ourselves, the prices are from the price list.
On the way to the hotel, the minibus makes a stop near the cafe - opposite the shop across the road. If you forgot something at home, buy it there. Plus water, cola, etc. The hotel shop water is very expensive. It is not allowed to collect bottles from coolers. You can carry it to your room in cups, if you need, for example, drink medicine. Water from coolers can be drunk unboiled without harm to health.
The hotel is beautiful, European style. The entrance to it is especially impressive in the evening. It's just Las Vegas. The huge hall is covered in marble, many corners with sofas for relaxing, cozy lighting, a bar, a plasma TV. plays cards, watches TV.
There is no special entertainment. Italian animation in the evenings behind the playground in the amphitheatre. The sound and light are very good. From 21-00 children's animation. A sweet girl Francesca organized extras and dances with children. Everything is in Italian, but the children understand both Polish and ours. After 15-00 I saw her with a group of Italian kids on the beach, it is possible that she worked with them as a nanny for a fee. with pleasure. From 21-30 - animation for adults. The plots are simple - we tried to make it clear to everyone. From entertainment, there is also aquagym on the beach from 11-00 (aqua aerobics) in case of waves - by the pool. From 12-00 - beach volleyball. All announcements in Italian . There is a billiard (1 hour per room for free), table tennis rackets for a fee, a good gym.
Everywhere is clean, well-groomed, greenery grows before our eyes. Compared to the reviews of 2008, the jungle, especially in the courtyards of residential buildings.

The room was clean. Cleaned daily. The quality of cleaning satisfied us - they didn’t try to lick the floor for cleanliness, but it was visually clean. We twisted masterpieces from towels, once even signed by the author (Thank you, Mustafa! ). Tips were left in pounds. Not even always took away. Towels were changed daily, beds every other day. Beds were made in a new way every day.
The showers throughout the hotel are not designed properly. The water does not drain from the floor. In a double, the first tenant takes a shower in a dry cabin, and the second one is already standing in a pool of cold soapy water. In the morning, the cleaners removed the water and wiped the floor dry. Before the first shower. Shampoo, soap, conditioner, body lotion, shower cap, shower gel, toilet paper - everything was there and replenished as needed. The hair dryer is normal and clean. And after reading the reviews, we dragged everything with us.
We didn’t observe any insects in the room. On the first day, one mosquito flew, the flight style and the sound were different from ours. we lived on the first floor. For a week, a gas attack was staged on the territory several times at dusk - white smoke fell over the grass. We hid in the reception hall. The corpses of insects did not appear after this procedure, maybe they just crawled in fear. All equipment worked. Sockets without a hole for a grounding pin. The TV shows 1 Russian channel, a few delusional Italian channels, one Polish channel and a couple of English-language ones with very good films. A standard-sized laptop will not fit in the room safe (free of charge). We had a small one. Internet connection in the hotel lobby - $8/hour. Skype does not work well.
The staff is friendly, intelligent, not annoying. They don't speak Russian - only English and Italian. They only know Hello! and How are you? What should I answer mea-mea or kvais, since the answer Good from women's lips gives them undisguised pleasure - it sounds similar to their unprintable expression.

The food is ok, but gourmets will be disappointed. They overcook the meat - this is probably a national feature associated with a hot climate. Fish is always available. The fish is mainly Nile. The sea is transported from the Mediterranean, since industrial fishing is prohibited in the Red Sea. The good news is that the sea is still not as frozen as ours. There are a lot of vegetables, but they are boringly cooked, either boiled or grilled. country of evergreen oranges. "Melons were served peeled, sliced, slightly sweet and forever green, we consoled ourselves with the fact that these were local varieties. Oranges were the same. Raw dates are also green (looks like a long red radish) and tart, better in compote. Our people hunted for polished pomegranate seeds - they ate them in bowls. I think that the Egyptians like greenish fruits more, because. in the heat, they quench their thirst better. And that we love sweets, so we don’t tell them about it!
Delicious yogurts for breakfast, good omelets are fried in front of you, a lot of raw vegetables, and for dinner they are cut in front of you and mixed into a salad of your choice. A special chef prepares pasta for lunch. My daughter was in Italy and after that she enjoyed eating their pasta with mussels. I preferred pasta as a side dish to a chicken sweetheart. There are many desserts, but most of them are strange for our taste - rice puddings, colored jelly from bags, dry biscuits. Good croissants, biscuit cakes, hot pastries in food warmers. The chefs change in shifts every ten days, among them there is a dessert master, but there was not his shift, maybe you will be more lucky.
I read in the reviews that the pizza in the bar above the beach is made from semi-finished products. I don’t agree.
It will be difficult to feed small children under 3 years old, but this did not frighten Italians and Poles, many were with babies. Foreigners.
Twice a week there were dinners of national cuisine - once Egyptian - kebab, grilled chicken, shawarma (lavash for shawarma was baked right there) and some compote from local fruits, similar in taste and color to cranberry juice. Perhaps from a pomegranate. Do not ask steel, our English for botanical delights would obviously not be enough. Italian dinner - the same pasta, pizza and lasagna.
Tea, cocoa and instant coffee in the restaurant are really only for breakfast. The rest of the time is in the bars from 10 to 23. I once really saw cups in the bar with a touch of tea. I chose a clean one and calmly went to drink coffee on the terrace. Papa 74! Do not be offended. Only pearl barley consists of only pearls. Let those who are afraid of little things do not go to Fantasia. We will be calmer among optimists. I would love to come again.
And most importantly, of course, M O R E. See the review and photos of Papa 74, the informativeness and quality of his photos cannot be surpassed.
I WILL ADD VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM MYSELF.

On the very first day, opening my mouth, I looked at the fish and corals and did not follow my legs - a wave of my legs skidded onto the coral and I was thoroughly burned. At first, the burn looked like a bite of several wasps - swelling, redness, hardening. Lubricated with the Rescuer and tea tree oil on alcohol. A day later, deterioration began, trophic ulcers appeared, the leg turned blue from the knee to the thigh and swelled up. The view was terrible. Despite the fact that the body temperature was normal, I think that our doctors, having seen such beauty , they would have rushed to cut it left and right. She didn’t swim for two days, then she spat and went to the pier before her death to swim. She was almost ready to call an ambulance. Ocet! In general, vinegar. Thanks to the rescuer Karim. He immediately brought vinegar from the yacht and poured it directly on the ulcers. He said: swim, sunbathe, in short, dry your leg. vinegar. Never use oils and greasy ointments! Take diazolin or suprastin for allergies. If trophic ulcers appear, you can use crushed antibiotics, sprinkle them directly on the ulcers. And that's all. But if you do nothing and do not comb the burns, then everything goes like in a joke about the flu (treated flu - after a week, and untreated - after 7 days) Divers say that vinegar also helps with lionfish poison. Thank God, I haven't tested this myself.
At the end of November, the evenings become cooler, I recommend that ladies stock up on blouses and long-sleeve dresses for dinner. But the sea is still warm. After a windy beach, you enter the water like a warm bath. I wish you all a pleasant stay and wonderful impressions from the marine inhabitants of the Red Sea.

ONCE AGAIN I NOTE - FANTASY - A HOTEL OF A QUIET REST. WHO TO HANG OUT, BREAK OFF -TO HURGHADA AND CHARM

P. S. And a few more words about Pegasus. Our flight was postponed 12 hours earlier, motivated by non-flying weather in Moscow (in the future? ) Experienced Egyptian tourists say that this is the norm for Pegasus. not days. As a result, we didn't get to say goodbye to friends and dry our wet clothes. Be prepared for surprises and take longer tours.
