I want to share my impressions about holidays in Egypt and specifically at Sunrise Select Royal Makadi Resort & Aqua Park where I was with my family (wife and children 8 and 5 years old) in the last week of February.
We were in Egypt for the first time, before that we rested mainly in Europe (Malta, Croatia, Spain (Canary, Balearic Islands), Greece, Italy, Montenegro . . ). Egypt is the 23rd country in a row, so I can judge with a certain degree of objectivity.
We flew with Anex tour, everything was organized at a good level, there are no comments on the work of the operator. I want to mention the employee Ahmed, who accompanied us from the airport and back and on excursions to the island. The carrier was Azur Air with planes painted in Anex tour livery.

Upon arrival at the Hurghada airport, we didn’t go to the operator’s desks to apply for visas, but went straight to the window with visas, where they cost $ 25, and not 27 as at the operator’s desks. After obtaining visas, they took two questionnaires at the counter, filled them out and went to passport control. Upon arrival and departure at the airport (new terminal) there was only our flight, so there were few people.
If you are planning to go on some kind of water excursions, then I do not advise buying them from the hotel representative of Anex. They can be bought from numerous "tour agents" walking along the beach and near the pools, they will be cheaper, and as a result, everyone will swim together.
Of the excursions, we took advantage of a trip to Paradise Island with snorkeling and fishing along the way and a combined Dolphinarium / Aquarium / Sand City excursion (everything is close). And I advise you to go on one and the other excursion, but bargain strongly about the second one, because. the price is clearly too high. The first tour cost $75 for 4, the second $135 for 4. And advice, everyone who sells excursions clearly exaggerates their content, filter it.
And now about the hotel. In general, we liked the hotel. The hotel shows that it is not new, in some places you can even say old. But those shortcomings that exist are leveled by an absolutely magnificent territory, which is buried in greenery and flowers, and a good attitude of the staff.
At the time of our arrival, the hotel was less than half full, so there were always enough sunbeds near the pools and on the beach at any time. There was only a short period of 2-3 days when a lot of Arabs came to the hotel, it was not always comfortable to be around them, they smoked everywhere, it was impossible to lie on the beach / near the pool, they had to change seats to breathe in oxygen. Also, adult men attacked the children's slides with the whole crowd (40 people at the same time). And so the contingent of vacationers somewhere around 60 percent is Slavs (Ukraine, Lithuania / Latvia / Estonia, Belarus... ), the rest of the Germans, Danes, British, Russians did not meet.

The food at the hotel is good and varied. No one had any disorders, as we were told earlier. Meat dishes are mainly chicken and some fish. The choice of fruits was small, but desserts ate to their heart's content. Of the a la carte restaurants, we managed to get only to Italian. On the first day of my stay at the hotel, I went to the check-in terminals for restaurants and tried all the restaurants, there were no dates available anywhere except one.
The animation almost passed us by, or rather we passed it))) We didn’t get to any evening program, because. the children fell asleep even before her, we did not take part in the activities throughout the day, only the older child went to the mini club twice.
At the hotel, we also visited the spa center (sauna / peeling / hammam / jacuzzi / massage), everything is cool, we liked everything, but expensive and not enough time.
The weather on the first day upset us a lot. there was a very strong wind, we walked in sweatshirts, then the weather cleared up and it was warm, it reached 32 degrees. The sea was 23 degrees, the pool (with slides) 26 degrees. At least that's what the signs said.
In general, I recommend this hotel. I myself will not go a second time just because I don’t go to the same place twice.
