Rested at the Sea Star Beau Rivage hotel in Hurghada from July 24 to August 7.2010. I was with my family, wife and 14 year old child. Overall impression of the hotel, city and country : Great stay! Absolutely not sorry for the money spent.
Now in more detail:
1. Hotel. "Sea Star... " is located in the elite area of Hurghada (2 km to the beginning of the city itself) in which the houses of wealthy entrepreneurs and the governor of the Red Sea region are located. The hotel is located on the very seashore, the five-storey building of the hotel is located with the letter "P", in the courtyard there are 2 pools, 2 bars and an Al La Carte restaurant. The beach at the hotel is very large, there is a lot of space, which makes life much easier for vacationers. no need to "stake out" the place in the early morning. The only but significant drawback of the hotel is the lack of water slides.

We were lucky, we occupied room 347. Firstly, this room has 3 large beds; secondly, in size, this number significantly exceeds the standard, but in the standard. the room is also put on a folding bed as a third bed - there is no place to turn around; thirdly, it is very good to live on the third floor - one flight of stairs and you are in a restaurant or on the street. Room cleaning was carried out daily and efficiently. There were not significant hitches with the replenishment of soap, but after a reminder, everything was decided. The central air conditioner worked properly. Room with a small balcony, but enough to relax. TIP: have a clothesline and clothespins to dry your swimwear. This "option" is not provided as standard.
The restaurant in the hotel is located on the 2nd floor and consists of 2 halls. The restaurant has free seats at any time. The food is excellent both in quality and quantity of food, and in the variety of dishes. The restaurant staff is clean, tidy, polite, helpful and friendly. In other matters, like all the staff of this hotel.
Near the reception there is a bar with a billiard room, in this bar bottled, cold beer is poured. The bottle is poured into 3 plastic glasses, so order five at once. We visited the Al la Carte restaurant with Italian menu. Plenty of food, good service, free local drinks.
2. Sea. The sea is clean, the sandy beach is regularly cleaned by staff. The sea is very shallow, to a depth of 1.5 meters you need to walk 30 meters through dead corals. Lots of sea urchins and sharp rocks. TIP: be sure to have special marine shoes - coral slippers. In front of my eyes, several people injured (cut) their legs. Coastal marine fauna is limited to the aforementioned hedgehogs and small fish. We did not go diving or boat trips. The hotel's beach is conditionally divided into 2 zones: the first - the central zone is located in the center of the hotel, the second zone to the right of the hotel and has a more comfortable entrance to the sea, a sandy bottom without corals, but in this beach area there is a morning shade and scorching afternoon sun.
3. City of Hurghada. The hotel is located in a quiet area of the city. There are houses around the hotel, some villas are occupied, some are under construction. Near the hotel "Sea Star... " another hotel is being built, this construction does not interfere with rest at all, but it is not comfortable to make a promenade near the hotel. If you want to take a walk, you will need to walk (absolutely safe) 5-7 minutes to a brightly lit and well-maintained street. If there is a need to get acquainted with the city center, a taxi will help you, for $ 3 they will take you to the street

Sheraton Road, which houses all the major shops, both global and local, and up to Esplanade Road, which houses the Hard Rock Cafe, the Little Buddha nightclub and the Duty Free shop.
4. Excursions. During the rest were on 2 excursions: a sightseeing tour of the city of Hurghada and an excursion to the city of Luxor. The tour of Hurghada did not make much of an impression, the bus circled around the city in which there were no special attractions, commercial interest dominated: a store of "left" flavors, a store of low-quality textiles, etc.
Excursion to Luxor is very tiring, long, but very informative and interesting. With an abundance of historical places, the commercial moment was not missed here either. Approximately half of the time of the tour was spent on unnecessary shopping for most. The guide stubbornly promoted the acquisition of a national decoration - a cartouche. TIP: do not succumb to the hype, do not rush to buy. Buy a cartouche quite calmly in a hotel, in a silver or gold store. On the Sheraton Road, every jewelry store also sells a cartouche.
If you do not take into account the economic component, the excursion to Luxor is very interesting and unforgettable. The guide spoke good Russian and tried to convey to the rude and poorly educated tourists (they made a garbage dump on the bus) the maximum amount of historical information.
5. Airport. TIP: do not rush to buy alcohol and cosmetics with perfumes in the treasured Duty Free Shop. At the airport in Hurghada, there are two Duty Free: the first (small and expensive) - right after passport control, everyone is bursting into it. The second store is very large, free, without crowding. It is divided into 2 halls: the hall of drinks and the hall of perfumery and cosmetics. This store is located in the waiting area for boarding. I advise you to shop there. Have fun!
Sea Star Beau Rivage, in my opinion, is one of the best hotels in Hurghada. Rest in this hotel will please even the most demanding (but adequate! ) tourists. My family for 14 days of rest received a huge amount of positive!! ! Vacation was great!!!
I sincerely wish you all a good rest and get maximum pleasure!! !
