The first time I was on holiday in Hurghada in January, I was afraid of the terrible cold winds and cold sea water. I chose the hotel based on price. With a flight from Dusseldorf, this was one of the most budget options. At that moment, 90 percent of Germans aged 45+ were vacationing in the hotel. The weather turned out to be gorgeous all days, no wind, slightly cool in the morning, in the evenings too, without jackets, jeans, etc. The water in the sea is refreshing, you won’t be able to swim for a long time. Near the shore it is shallow for a long time, then gradually deeper. There were absolutely no corrals or fish, but I didn’t count on that, since I didn’t have a wetsuit and didn’t plan to swim for a long time anyway. The rooms are very old and simple, but everywhere is clean, beach towels can be changed every day, there are always enough places on sun loungers both in the sun and in the shade. The heated pool was a lifesaver in the afternoon, I was very glad that I chose a hotel with a warm pool.
Everything in the hotel is aimed at German tourists, the staff speaks German and all the prices for excursions in the hotel are very inflated; I bought them in the city at several times cheaper. Winter is the ideal time to visit the pyramids and other long-distance excursions. There was animation at the hotel every evening, not very long and not the most active, but not bad either. There was a foam show during the day, and live music several times during dinner. The waiters are all very nice. The food is beyond praise. The most delicious thing we tried in Egypt. Everything suits European tastes. Various fish, baked and grilled, and shrimp, different meats too, and even baked quail, vegetables, fruits, desserts separately and also for the afternoon snack. Olives and pickled zucchini are simply superb. The side dishes include not only French fries or lasagna, but also baked potato wedges and spinach puree. Various soups for lunch and pizza and shawarma, which I simply didn’t get around to trying, since there was so much more.
The wine was disgusting, I don’t know how the Germans drink it, but it was warm and terrible swill. In Germany the wine is great, and there was a contrast here. The beer is cool and not bad. The coffee, cappuccino, etc. at the bar at the reception were delicious, far from being like in C-rated hotels. I think this hotel was given three stars for the old rooms and the beach, but for the food I would confidently give 5*. I definitely recommend the hotel, especially in terms of price and quality.
